I've edited Varvost's response to reflect Vorr's suggestion that the Deathwatch should abandon Syndalla.

To be clear (you would all know this, especially once Swordhand make it clear): the Hive Ship in question will look something like this:

It is about a Battleship-weight and surrounded by smaller escort vessels that can match up to the Imperial defenders. It is a formidable threat, and in order to defeat it, the Tyranid invasion fleet will need to be weakened - whether through orbital action or the destruction of Tyranid ground forces requiring it to expend bio-mass to create more forces (there will also be some plot developments for you to make decisions.)

It would be foolhardy in the extreme to attempt to board the Hive ship now (as Swordhand is well aware!) and would almost certainly mean Syndalla is overwhelmed whilst you do so. However, that is not to say that offensive operations cannot be attempted, and I will try to detail the range of options you have. Over the next few days, however, the priority can be the Syndallan defenses as the Tyranids have not entered the system.

A battleship analog is going to be a serious threat, hopefully the smaller organisms will not be able to act as synapse nodes...

Still this should be an interesting event!

I'll have a post up today, to cover Tyber acquiring a second bolt pistol... he's going to press Vaidan's into service, as Vaidan doesn't need it for this conflict. :whistling:

By all means write it, but I suggest that you save it until you are out of this conversation, otherwise it seems too random. I would like to be able to move things forward but I need the players to engage meaningfully with what Solastion has said.

A bit of transparency in an effort to give you all a bit of freedom. I am planning tomorrow to transition the scene to the Xenocide, with both Kill-Teams travelling into orbit. This will give the teams some respite and some smaller scenes where characters can interact.

Some thoughts:

- Both apothecaries could bond in the Apothecarion and Vaidan could be transported to the Xenocide.

- Some of the more martial could spar, or alternatively pray together, exploring some of the differences.

- The Techmarines could interact and begin repairing all their armour.

- Marines of both Kill-Teams might interact with the armoury of the vessel.

The idea is that this could culminate in a ceremony in which the two two Kill-Teams swear their oaths united and with new purpose.

Morovir - I don't have one. Perhaps use the double plus and a different colour?

Just got ninja' ed by Slips .... so I edited it in :p

Love the idea, Greysight! And couldn't be prouder to have Sabaan part of this!

I quite agree that if anything gets detectable enthusiasm into Sabaan's vocoder output it is the widespread use of the. Secrets of the Motion Force in creating fiery death for the fleshy enemies of the Omnissiah. And the Orimrach. And the Imperium, In that order :)

To be fair, the hard science is a little shaky, but hey! It sounded cool! Look forward to reading all your posts.

Pfff, hard science. That's vile Tech- heresy! Just wait ... I am seriously considering if our Apothecaries could add some xenos toxin in industrial scale. Let it rain!

I think it needs some emphasis that the plan from Greysight does explicitly aim to not just roast the planet... it aims at reducing the numbers and prevent the city from just being overrun from orbit. The backlash will have repercussions on a Syndalla for years to come but the world might recover from that. I also think that is what would make Sabaan take it up so easily, too. It is overwhelmingly destructive, uses the local resources, aims at given the defenders a fighting chance aaaand might just leave enough of the planet intact to achieve the main objective from keeping a farmable portion of the planet intact. The objective here is keeping the breadbasket. Gardeners can still be shipped in later.

Yes, exactly this Xin. Consider my proposal a hastily put together void shield over Beregar. It will stop some of the Tyranids from getting through and it may force them to redeploy outside of Beregar which buys us a little time.

The way the proposal is worded is that is local only to Beregar and it is intended to not be a cure all, just a way to slow them down. We should be thinking of ways to defend the city via more traditional methods.

My suggestion would be to put all non combantants in the sewers and blow up / block access uncovered by the cults. In a way, they have done us a good job by accessing well hidden areas away from the surface.

Then we should be looking at fortifying whatever we can and looking to the city walls.
