Mol, what fleet assets do we currently have at our disposal? I’m wondering if we should sacrifice a cruiser (or even the Xenocode for poetic justice) armed with warheads to simply ram themselves into the maw of that bioship and blow up. ‘Into the belly of the whale’ as it were. If we could achieve that and cripple the ship then it vastly increases our chances of stopping the onslaught.

EDIT: Vorr in fact suggested this reading through his reply. It's definitely what I'd do!

Great post Nine!

As for scenes, I can see one happening between Tyber and Oto, seeing as they are both from chapters that operate outside of the Imperium. Perhaps taking place within the armory when Tyber is repurposing Vaidan's bolt pistol.

Atratus will join any group that returns to the xenocide, seeking to use its resources to better arm himself for the coming fight - particularly in finding a viable toxin or alternate ammo source for his rifle.

At 40 req the somewhat obscure 'seismic escalation detonator' stands out, like some kind of huge tower shield that shoots waves of sonic energy...

If we each grab 1 seismic escalator then we can definitely cause major damage - used on in a game before.

However, we have to be cautious of where we place them or we might turn the city into a giant sinkhole.

I also forgot that I took Signature Wargear for a Jump Pack :p

Slips: Although I have advanced the timeline without bringing the meeting to a close I would like Greysight's words to rattle around in Solastion's head. Being the figurehead for an entire planetary defense may well not be something he's comfortable with, but it certainly creates some interesting drama!

Oh hes definitely not.

But, hes a Sanguinary Priest so hes at least used to leading others in a form of worship/prayer/whatever

If I turn Syndalla into a blood cult, I'm sorry in advance.

Would it be a death cult then or something borderline Kornite?

Though I would think the Inquisition might come knocking either way... :P

How was its operation ruled? With range, blast, and fire mode profiles it looks like a sonic weapon that you focus on something that you want to shake apart as opposed to a 'thumper' type groundshaker weapon.

Thats basically how we used it; I planted it into the base of a building and turned it on and let it do its thing while we went to do something else.

The question comes more from planting it 100m away from the building (as per the range) and turning it on - I have the image of Atratus running up 'shield' in hand, planting it to push back a horde of gaunts as he fires from behind it Pavise-style.

Though the escalation part might also come in handy if we find ourselves on a bioship, leave that thing charging for long enough and it'd put a hole in anything.

the way I read it works is that you turn it on and it uses the smaller, weaker pulse and over time works its way up to the maximum radius and damage.

Yeah, that's the sonic wave vs thumper thing.

My impression was more like a man-portable version of this: https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Mechanicum-Ordinatus-Ulator

Mainly as it has a range and a blast, and no special rules relating to blast expansion (etc), but i've seen the same question asked before and it seems very much a 'however the DM envisions it' kind of weapon. The errata didn't do anything except reprint the profile.

All:

I posted this to Slips in the IC thread:

It seems to me that the following things will need to happen:

- Meeting with Fleet-Captain Locke to discern her thoughts and to consider whether she might be able to lend anything to the defense (she has several thousand armsmen across the three vessels, for example.)

- Meeting with General Wrex to discuss the ground defense of Beregar, where the troops will be posted, etc. If you are to progress with forming civilian militias, he would likely be worth discussing with. At the moment, he is in control of where to post the troops.

- Meeting with Governor Vortis, discussing anything civilian in terms of defending the planet, but worth also discussing the propaganda effort.

- Meeting with Captain Desiato to determine his motives and perhaps to extract a promise to defend the planet, along with whether he has anything he can lend to the defense. You may also wish to gain an understanding of what his vessel is capable of.

- Meeting with Adeptus Arbites or Ecclesiarchal figures to see what support they could lend.

- Petitioning for entry into the Metallican District - the Magos Primus has been rather evasive and Skitarii units have not left the district.

Perhaps feel free to assign some Marines to each task, and I can start preparing posts.

Does anybody have any particular interests in any particular direction? General Wrex and Akkad are already on track to meet one another, though Akkad is acting as a loose cannon at the moment. I'm also of the mind, thanks to Ninesword's description of the Angel of Syndalla, that Solastion and the Ecclesiarchy are going to connect.

I'm glad it's Solastion meeting with the Ecclesiarchy and not Tyber... that'd be a recipe for trouble....

I can see Tyber meeting with the Arbites, Vortis or Locke, When it comes to Desiato being someone on the list of people to have a chat with, as Tyber has some questions for the Trader, but I don't see it going well....

I have established a series of "scenes" for you - feel free to liaise with your partner here in the OOC in an effort to move these forward!

Mazer - I will sort yours out later, awesome post.

Steel - although I haven't PMed you yet, just roll with the scene change from a narrative perspective.

Will do CM!

Edit:

Post up.

Edit #2:

For the 40 requisition:

2x Kraken Clips for Bolt Pistol (15)

1 X  Kraken Belt for Heavy Botler (20) -- this is for Akkad, but Tyber is picking up as both a joke and precaution in regards to his tendency to jam. :laugh.:

7 Requisition will buy an assault shotgun...

I have decided thusly:  Akkad will blow all his Req on a backpack supply of Hellfire ammunition.

25 for the rounds

15 for the hoppers/belt.

I worked out a Hellfire shell does to hordes exactly what a heavy bolter does at max rof anyway and I only need a Pass to do it instead of 6...and I still get Unrelenting Devastation.

Go figure.

MR.

40 requisition - seismic escalation detonator
(and scrape around for alternate needler ammo)

On the assumption the detonator is a directed sonic wave weapon.

Otherwise 30 requisition on a chainsword and hellfire flamer (or 34 on a hellfire flamer with a chain attachment...)

A.T. -

Having read Rites of Battle, I really don't like the Seismic Escalation Detonator; it just seems a little odd to me. I would be willing to offer you a needle precipitator and then feel free to research Dark Heresy for different toxins?

Fair enough on the Seismic Escalator but its main purpose, however, is to collapse buildings (its what I used it for at least). Could be useful to create sinkholes for the onrushing Tyranids to fall into.
