Okay so I think I have sorted Pallan's Character sheet (finally) apart from his chain details as well as thinking for Requisition I will go with:

Diagnostor Helm

Reductor

Narthecium (Exceptional)

Astartes Chainsword (Exceptional)

Which comes to 46 Requisition if that  is acceptable.

Can you cast your eye over things and let me know what you think Mol and then maybe I can start to fill in the fluff gaps...

Titus goes grimdark shopping! :D

Seriously though, if that doesn't fit with the way it should work, I'll happily edit!

And to Komrk, hope you don't mind me including Kol there, I just saw his pick of a Blind grenade and immediately thought it would make for a cool interaction?

Edit: and after some discussion with Mol, we've agreed that it's a bit iffy to play too much with making up profiles, and also doesn't make sense for various reasons to counts-as 2 guns into 1 (issues with sights, ammo and if Titus dropped it, etc) so I am now clarifying Huntsman is Titus personal Stalker boltgun, and as a backup weapon he has taken the 'standard' Godwyn he was offered on joining the Watch?

@ashlander47 - just a note on Incariels requisition. All space marines have the quick draw ability by default so the dipol maglocks are something of a niche item for characters who are likely to find themselves in a fight with an undrawn sword.

(regular maglocks are free)

Ah right you are. Had it in my head the other way around. That gives Blackthorn 19 Req total left over to play with, and unless someone really needs more than 4 Req to play with, I'm gonna go ahead and put down that Orbital Surveillance asset from RoB in it's place, just so the sheet calculates it properly. We can also shell out an extra point of Req to give Lycus the Siege Auspex instead of a regular old Auspex, leaving us with 3 left over. The magic number.

@CM let me know if there's any hoops we'll have to jump through to even get a sniff of that asset, I'm more than happy to spearhead that advance, since I initially suggested it.

Apologies, in regards to Gideon’s SIA, I am currently not able to access my rulebook so I’m not certain which type of SIA we can access with Respected. Again, sorry about this.

I think you can have any except Vengeance, so your options are clips of:

Dragonfire (28), Kraken (15), Metal Storm (15) or Stalker (5).

You get one clip for free as a DWTacM and I think the spreadsheet currently shows you have 15 Req assigned for another? So as a slightly unscrupulous suggestion, you could take the more expensive Dragonfire as your freebie and then Req a clip of Kraken or Metal Storm? Considering you're already toting a full meltagun, I might go for the Metal Storm for versatility?

As a suggestion re: Swordhand's 2 Req overspend, the only item on the sheet for exactly that amount is the Fire Selector on Atreus' combi-melta, would it be simplest (assuming its ok with you, adesro18?) for him to just stick to the Kraken rounds he's taken?

If needed we can knock Vorr's chainsword back down to a normal one instead of the upgraded version? He's a Devastator and will only need it for close encounters anyway since anything getting near him is getting nuked with a Multi-Melta

That'll give us 3 Req back.

That does actually seem like the best idea so far to level it out.

If it’s possible, then can I take a free mag of Dragonfire, and spend for a clip of Metal Storm?

In theory (I may be wrong, please alert me if I am!) I should have

Bolter with 2 SIA Magazines

Meltagun

Chainsword (?)

If this is correct then I’ll get to work on a post of Thire gearing up.

Do remember everyone has a combat knife as part of your standard kit, so you do have a melee weapon, on top of that your fists do lethal damage as an asatares. So we might be able to drop some of the chain swords to shave some points.

I was bored of the knife and wanted to rip and tear

Perhaps just buy our ammo by the stormbolter-clip load and hand it out behind the back of the forgemaster :p

You're in sword hand, not Blackthorn, so I don't need to find a way for us to shave points off of you.

Fantastic, thanks Ashlander. Good job to Blackthorn on figuring out what we could cut to squeak under the limit.

I'm looking forward to the squad getting underway, and as we starting to debate the merits of the Oath of Glory or the Oath of Astartes, the two squad oaths we will have access to with Tyber as the Squad Leader.

I'm good with either, though Glory does give us extra renown, yet Astartes gives us extra cohesion, something we are going to be a little light on.

Well looking at the two let's break it down to their differences.

Astartes gives us an extra +2 Cohesion. I'm not sure how much we are rocking right now, and I'm equally unsure how much +2 will really affect the course of things. It does increase the base level of the 1d10 roll that is necessary to drop into Squad Mode without needing a Test or Action, and it gives us access to more uses of our cool Squad Mode abilities. It also gives us the Squad Mode 'Tactical Spacing', which allows those in Support Range to share Reactions, essentially placing all of our Reactions in a pool to be used up at our leisure. Personally I'm not too sure Reactions are very powerful outside of the old Parry and Counter-Attack shuffle. It does grant extra chances at Evasion. Narratively this oath can represent Blackthorn's new ties of brotherhood being tested and displayed, though I'm not all too sold on that just yet.

Glory gives us an extra +1 Renown per objective. Again, I'm unsure how much exact Renown we have at the moment (at least enough to be Respected) but right away that's something that is unique to this Oath. Cohesion can be restored and managed somewhat with Fate points, prudent uses of Squad Modes and good Fellowship/Command rolls. Renown however is finite and I would imagine difficult to accrue. It takes 20 points of Renown to advance from Respected to Distinguished, and that's when the ded flash gubbinz really start to become accessible. It also gives us the Squad Mode 'Furious Charge', which does what it says on the tin, and is a pro-active ability rather than a reactive one (pun intended). For me? Considering Blackthorn is stacked with hotheads and currently lead by an Assault marine, I'd say Glory is more suitable.

@Blackthorn, it looks like things have moved apace. If we're still looking to recover requisition points, I'm open to swapping out for a cheaper weapon.

I added a quick visit to the Armorium for Helgrim to my previous post: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/344357-dw-blackthornswordhand-episode-iii-the-sundered-house/?p=5676133

Also, Helgrim's chapter trapping is a tabard with Deathwatch heraldry, which restores 1 cohesion for each objective achieved, which can hopefully help with passive cohesion (re)generation.

Okay, well our base cohesion going my the rules as they are in the book (I know CM talked about making mods to this during Episode I/II):

Tyber has a Fel that grants 4 +1 from his armor bring us to a total of 5 base.

Now with Tyber being the squad leader (If I can remember where I read it, I can't remember if it was in the core rules or RoB), in addition to the squad modes listed, we can also use Tyber's chapter squad modes without paying extra cohesion for them, this lets us have the following:

Tactical Finesse:

While this ability is in effect, the Battle-Brother and those within Support Range of him may make one Melee or Ranged attack as a Half Action (the Ranged Attack may only be
made using the single shot rate of fire) and may then make a Half Move. A character benefitting from this ability may disengage from an opponent in melee without penalty.

Courage Under Fire:

The Battle-Brother inspires those under his command to press on in the face of danger. When this ability is used, the Battle-Brother and any within Support Range of him may immediately recover from being Pinned. At Rank 4, those under the effect of this ability may also make a Half-Move as a Free Action.

I'm also more inclined for Glory as it seems more fitting for Tyber, but I'm willing to go with what the team feels.

@blackthorn

Just posted a bigish one to try and get Ekieo up to speed. It ends with him meditating before we head out.  If stuff needs changing or pulling please just let me know

What do you guys need to know from me in terms of perks, squad/solo modes etc as ive seen people posting about it?

Im back in the room with this now so ill be checking the thread a bit more regularly!

Looking forward to our first mission.

Well, right now we are talking about the merits of Oath of Astartes vs Oath of Glory, the two oaths that our squad has access to at the moment. Mechanically both are useful for us, narratively I feel Glory is the better choice, just due to how fractured the squad feels at the moment.

I have problems with the Oath system, particularly with how Mission Tactics have evolved as a hallmark of Deathwatch in the 40k tabletop game. The Deathwatch are supposed to be flexible.

One thought I've had (and this is perhaps the simplest "hack" of the system) is allowing the Kill-Team leader to "switch tactics" (swap oaths) on a Command Test. It's something I'd like to develop further.
