Sire of the Iron Warriors rule on page 19 references Word Bearers instead of Iron Warriors :O

Sire of the Iron Warriors rule on page 19 references Word Bearers instead of Iron Warriors :ohmy.:

... as planned... Yeah, it should obviously be Iron Warriors...

I'll do a update on Saturday morning to catch all the stuff people find. TBH I was going Legion-blind over the past couple of days.

Page 59  where there is 'blackshields', the tactics are "dark angels' on the left side of the page.

I havent played 40K in ages, nor Kill Team, but I really like this. I'm still in it for the background, you could say :smile.:.

Well done! Hope it works as good as it looks.

So, there's a lot of formatting that can be tightened up (i.e. obscured instead of cover, Fighter instead of Champion) so that terms are immediately recognizable from the core game.

It's very weird to see the champion not have a bonus attack like the fighter does in 40k.

Fury of the legion is useless if you're within 12", rapid fire 2 would be better and more in line with the actual rule.

AP should reflect the current system (AP4 to -1, AP3 to -2, etc...) The combi-volkite, heavy chainsword and rotor cannons seem to have their own thing going.

Rotor cannon is...not at all what the weapon is either. I get that its bad in 30k, but it should be str 3, no ap and maybe heavy 4 costing 0

Also maybe use the 40k version of volkite, again just for consistency.

Combat shields seem...excessive and another thing that isn't at all how they work.

All the Legion special rules seem a bit much, but what stood out for me the most is Nostraman Blood. What is supposed to be a downside in 30k is an incredibly huge advantage. You just to ignore nerve tests while also being able to safely disengage from combat? Odd choice to say the least.

Nervermind the last; Blood Angels suck. WIthout Remorse, without Relent means they can never charge and almost never shoot, since they must always advance if able. They're also weird in that they get a str bonus in combat, instead of the integer bump they have in 30k and the night lords kept.

Don't do psychic powers only for thousand sons...perhaps consider a librarian specialist if you want psychic powers

Standardize mastercrafted, preferably use the 40k version that gives a weapon more damage.

You don't have a statline for shroud bombs.

I realize there's a lot of negatives and criticism, but I do find it very interesting. Imo you tried to get as much detail as possible, which ends up hurting more than helping. There's a reason 40k killteam is so plain on the average datasheet. Finally, only some legions seem to have downsides; drawbacks and quirks are a huge thematic draw and realistic balance factor in 30k, and there's really almost none in here.

Keep up the hard work though!

This is exactly what is needed mate. Thanks for putting in the time on this!

  • 1 month later...

Updated version 0.2 available for download in OP

•    Kill teams for Legiones Astartes, Shattered Legions, Blackshields, Mechanicum Taghmata (new), and a small mod for running of a Skitarii Regiment kill team (new)
•    Detailed rules for all 18 Astartes Legions
•    5 Heresy era Specialists
•    120 Tactics

  • 4 weeks later...

I haven't played kill team yet so can't comment on the rules, but this is excellent looking and shows a lot of creative thought.

For volkite I like FW's 8th edition rules in the knights for them rather than just D2, which felt like a poor understanding of choom.

Will there be solar auxilia, cults and militia too?

This could also be the place for a quick and dirty conversion of imperial guard lists into mainline imperial army, with some imaginings as to what would be in the army as opposed to either the elites or the militia...?

  • 1 year later...

Monday WIP:

Work has begun on 'Scions of Heresy' the elite expansion for KT: Age of Darkness. I'm working on a new, more thematic, layout style that bridges both HH and KT, spoiler below. It's still a WIP but pretty happy with it so far. Before the next version 0.4 KT:AoD I'll change the layout to match.

I have also encountered my first real stumbling block, pictures of elite troops from the Black Books. I will need to have a think about what can be done... Lots of time in photoshop seems likely

Have a great week everyone!

Call for Miniatures!

Phase one of the Kill Team: Age of Darkness project, the ‘core book’, is coming to an end and the thing it is really missing is a miniatures section. Rather than cobble together one from GW/Forgeworld sources I’d like to put a call out to anyone who might be interested.
What I need is clear, well lit, good-to-high res pics on a monotone background for the following factions:

•    All legions (a mix of Tactical, Assault, Recon and Siege Marines if possible whether they are specialists of not)
•    Shattered legions
•    Blackshields
•    Mechanicum
•    Solar Auxilia
•    Custodes
•    Sisters of Silence
•    Militia and Cults

The miniatures will be displayed exactly like the image below, using GW minis as an example, and will come with your credit and a link to your website/blog/social media.

Please get in touch if you are interested or share with someone you think might be into it.
Thanks, O

Just a quick comment. The Solar Aux intro page (p75) looks like it has a copy/paste error in the Battleforged Kill Teams section as it refers to Mechanicum rather than Solar Auxilia.

Also I think “growld” was meant to be “ground”.

Keep up the good work.

The Model gallery for KT:AoD is coming along nicely, WIP below, but there is still plenty of room to get your models in!

Models painted by Adam Matthews, Vincent Girault, and Kieran Douglas.

Version 0.4 will be available from June 9th.

Here is a piece you will find in it, currently in layout, with miniatures painted by Kieran Douglas (IG: @raptorimperialis). It may get turned into a poster (PDF only!)

If you would like your miniatures included in this final playtest version please get in touch, you have two weeks.
