I've considered it but I really don't like tying my armies to one opposing enemy thematically and all of my friends thus far play Traitor Legios... That's also why I have no opposing Astartes on any of the bases, wreckage or otherwise.

Oh, some more news... I've finished the Versatile Terrain nameplates for my Titans and I should have some pics later today of those. Also, I'm already on to the gold trim of Excorio Arbitra, my CC Reaver, so that should be done in a day or two.

One thing you can do to avoid this is to paint the ripped part with neutral colours making it impossible to tie to a specific legio. I have seen one excellent example of that with a Reaver standing with a foot on a dead Warhound, the warhound being painted as a burnt out shell, covered with grey dust from urban debris. Impossible to tell which Legio it belonged to.

They are really superb and the nameplates will only reinforce this, eager to see them in place.

I've thought of adding bits and pieces of Titans here and there. Maybe, but at this point I'm almost done with the force (for now) so I don't see it happening. I still have to put together the rest of the bases and I have some ideas of what I'm going to do with them, particularly the Warlord. I just hope I have the space.

Thanks! I'm still undecided on how I want to base him but I have some time to decide. In the meantime, I've gotten a good start on the 4th and (so far) final Reaver of my Mortis army, then it's on to the next 3 Warhounds... which at that point my vow for the Event will have been successfully completed.

I did snag another box of Cerastus Lancers. This will give me two full Lancer Banners.

Rip and tear? RIP AND TEAR!

That's a nice, dynamic pose you've got there. Hope you didn't run out of swear words with the leg armour :D

Regarding board performance, prepare for acceptable losses. Doublefister engines are distraction carnifexes, I've found, that perform best when thrown head on against the opposing line while you maneuver with the other bits. Then again, Mortis has the March stratagem, which might allow some sneaky play early on. Especially with the layered deployment setup, if you get a Reaver up front.

Surprisingly, I didn't have much trouble with the armour. I thought for sure it wasn't going to fit and I didn't even think about it until after I had set the pose but sure enough it worked.

I do think taking advantage of March of the Dead will go a ways toward making this guy effective. My plan is to either have a dakka Reaver shadow it and pop shields / do damage and allow Mr. Fister here to deal the killing blow. Imagine actually being able to take advantage of the +1S and re-roll abilities that Mortis has?! That's the only way I see that re-roll rule working.

That or run it with accompanying Lancers as guardians using the new Maniple and have them soak up damage. Whoever remains is a vital asset when attacking the enemy in close proximity.

Considering you want to go close, I find shield busting to be pretty redundant on the other Reaver (2" close combat attacks ignore shields anyway). One could almost consider a megabolter or apoc missiles on the punchy Reaver, as it will most likely be close to things of its own size and megabolters are sweet in downing those shields for the other elements of your list.

Regarding the Mortis rerolls, yeah, you really need to concentrate on those kills through group tactics and focus things down one by one instead of taking on the whole line.

Well I would see the second Reaver more there to soften the target so hopefully I can get the +1S and finish it off for the re-roll. Then again, most plans don't survive first contact so it would probably all go to hell anyhow.

Indomitus Fulgor- Savage Splendour

Indomitus Fulgor was formerly a member of the Terran Janissary Guard, a Maniple of 7 Reavers tasked with protecting the Martian Diplomat on Terra. This position is evident by the ornate carapace sporting the Imperial Aquila, a symbol otherwise rarely seen on Mortis engines. Chosen personally by the Fabricator General for their loyalty bravery and skill, the Guard were an elite formation who escorted the Diplomat's personal Macrocarid Explorator as it made it's way through the streets surrounding the Imperial Palace. Pulled out mere days before the Betrayal at Isstvan III, the Janissary Guard were dispersed throughout the Legio Mortis and used in campaigns of high importance.

Haha, thanks. I've got three Warhounds (vowed) and two Lancers (not vowed) left and then I'm probably done for the time being. I do want to pick up three more Warhounds after this for an even ten but we'll see. I'm not really sure it's needed, although running two Lupercal Maniples at once would be interesting (and from what I've seen completely overpowering).

I do need to focus on my Realm of Battle board and buildings, however. I've got a bunch of Civitas buildings laying around unassembled and I need to remedy that.

Thanks brother! I'll hopefully have the first of my last three Warhounds up within a day or two. I have yet to even touch the bases for my second vow as well, so that'll be the next thing after I finish these.

Lupus Spodium - Cinder Wolf

I cannot take credit for the design of Cinder Wolf, that goes to brother Vykes. He had painted a 28mm Warhound for last year's ETL (in 72 hours!) and the design looked really nice so I asked if I could include Cinder Wolf in my Maniple. He agreed and here we are.

I had to take some liberties with the design Vykes had done on his, mainly with transfer placement. Some of the transfers used on his aren't available in a small enough size to use on an AT Warhound and... yeah, I don't do freehand.

Other changes were just to have the model match the rest of my Mortis. While Vykes' Cinder Wolf has a more antiqued gold or brass, I obviously had to change it to match my gold. I tried my best to match the striping, the rear engine isn't exactly the same however. Other than small things here and there I think it's fairly obvious it's the same engine and now his comment in the Titan Showcase thread about our Titans looking like siblings (10,000 years removed) is right too considering they'll both fight side by side.

Oh, and the eyes. They had to be red on mine.

Thank you. It was a pleasure to paint and an interesting challenge with the striping. Of I were to do it again I'd probably go about it differently, but it turned out alright.

I'm hoping to have the last two done by the end of the week. That may be a bit ambitious but at the rate I'm churning these out it's doable. I really want to get started on the bases.
