Hahaha I just did this exact bit in the upcoming thread.

Similar number to the previous box sets. Night Lords were 1000 as well I believe, Forges 1100. Some were I think 1200 or 1250. Warhammer Community articles had it wrong in some instances so wouldn't double-check there

I have never put myself through the stress of the Limited Edition purchase window. But for this while my head says no my heart says definitely!

How does it work? What time and where?

So pre-orders go live on Saturday morning (on a regional basis). PHYSICAL COPIES OF ALL NEW RELEASE BLACK LIBRARY PRODUCTS ARE EXCLUSIVELY AVAILABLE THROUGH THE GAMES WORKSHOP ONLINE STORE. The Black Library site these days ONLY has digital releases.

For me in the West Coast time region of the United States, for instance, that is officially 10 AM on Saturday morning. (Anybody with more specific time-frame experience, do please speak up.)

My experience is that pre-orders tend to go live about 5-10 minutes before that official time (so for me, that means 9:50 - 9:55 AM).

What this means is that practically:

- You want to be online, already logged in to your GW webstore account prior to the pre-order start window. Have your payment information/method up-to-date and ready to go.

- Using the webstore tabs and filters, navigate to the pre-order section for Black Library releases. Begin refreshing the site every few seconds about 10 minutes before the hour.

  - (Note, if they've implemented the webstore queue system for the weekend, you'll just have to sit in the queue. Do not refresh or navigate away if you already have a slot in the queue.)

- When the store refresh shows up with the new pre-order items, get the stuff you want into your cart and complete the check-out process as fast as you can. Hope and pray that GW's online store infrastructure doesn't suffer a bout of explosive self-defecation.

- If you get a confirmation email and number, congrats! You've have successfully placed your pre-order.

- Now you get to wait and hope that your order doesn't get cancelled because it turns out they didn't actually have enough stock on-hand to meet all the orders.

- Then you get to wait and hope that GW's psychotically malicious Abominable Intelligence of an order fulfillment system actually ships you the damned things you ordered.

That about encompasses it in my experience. It sucks, but welcome to the hell that is the modern GW FOMO customer approach.

Please note that last week's pre-orders never showed up in the pre-order section under Black Library (still can't find them anywhere under Black Library for that matter). They were listed under the New & Exclusive's pre-order section though.

This may have been a one time glitch, but it's worth keeping in mind.

1.Pre-orders always go live 09.55 for Europe.

2.If your payment method has an authenticato, like PayPal for example, have it ready on hand.

3.I'm 99% sure that there won't be a que system in place, since there wasn't one for space marine codex and stuff.

My Copy of the collection arived finally. Reading the foreword for the Anthology, figured maybe some of you would like to read it too.

Fascinating that Peter doesn't consider what's going on at Phaedra to be part of the broader Dark Coil concept.

I don’t think this is correct.

My understanding from having spoken to Peter in the past is that he very much considers Fire Caste to very much be part of the Dark Coil. However, as an earlier book (first novel) he was finding his way and discovering what the Dark Coil was/is.

The set could only be so large and I would say that Requiem Infernal and The Reverie clearly fit together and some of the shorts tie more closely in there.

I would also argue that as Peter grew in confidence, so his writing became more complex, more “metaphysical” if you will. Fire Caste is a different beast to the others, stylistically and thematically IMHO.

Despite me not snagging a copy (the only time I have ever tried to get a Ltd Ed), this selling out will hopefully encourage BL to release a second Ltd Ed set that does include both Fire Caste and CotSD and remaining shorts.

I also hope it shows there is demand for Dark Coil stories and we get more from Peter. Can only hope and wish for another novel!

When the box set was announced, I checked various forums and even opened Facebook to explore a few Black Library-related groups. It saddened me how many people had never heard of Fehervari. Mind you, these were individuals claiming to have been reading Black Library for decades. Unless it's one of the popular authors like Abnett or ADB, or the book is about their favorite plastic crack unit, they seem to have next to zero interest.

I've always considered this one of the biggest problems with Black Library fiction. The fan base is incredibly small, and unfortunately, a significant portion of it ignores everything that's not related to their chosen army.

Even reading Peter's introduction in the box set is a bit sad that while the books are loved and adored, it is only by a small, die-hard community. I do hope the box set will serve as an advertisement and will expose Peter's writing to more fans. He truly is a gem among BL authors and I would throw my paychecks at him if he ever decided to go for Kickstarter.

As the age old saying goes, Space Marines and bolter porn sells.

As for a second box set. I doubt we gonna see it any time soon. BL is probably gonna wait for more shorts to accumulate, to make a third book, or for Fehervari to writte another novel.

BL need to commission another novel first!

As for your first point...that is part of the “secret” of ADBs popularity. Apart from one novel (his first) he has exclusively focused on Space Marines. Now he clearly has the excellent writing chops to deserve his popularity, but it is also because...Space Marines, especially Chaos Marines!

There is a very interesting post on the BL Nutters fb group that showcases the unique quotes that the author has included in many of the LE's (not mine though, sadly!) around 20 people have shared their signature pages with loads of unique quotes ... is a message being made to fans with the various quotes?

There has been an immense amount of effort put into these by the author.  The quality of calligraphy is mind-blowing considering he did 1000 of these.  Any fan of his really should check the post out, it's so unique what PF has done and very much appreciated as an added bonus for fans after forking out for the LE!

I heard some rumblings on Twitter that each copy (Yes the 1k) has a unique quote. How true that I cannot say.

That sounds very much like something Peter would do and enjoy greatly. He once sent me some bookplates by mail, with eldritch drawings and such. I've kept them safe on the shelf ever since.

Any of those photos floating around outside of Facebook, btw?

If BL made it easier to actually get the books, this could change over time. They actively work to discourage this however, its bizarre.

I would very much love to see those plates, if possible.

As for quote, I can share mine.

ADB was also the only writer to be heavily active on a wide number of community forums. He built up a "one of us" vibe right from Cadian Blood, which included putting down some of the less popular authors like Counter, who at that point was an easy whipping boy for cool cred. Of course that wouldn't have mattered had his books been poor, but it definitely played a part in getting the good online word of mouth momentum rolling very fast compared to more remote authors - and 3-4 years later brought about the predictable backlash wave originating from the edgier contrarian parts of the fanbase on 4chan, but by then he was a safe "good reputation" go to author for newer fans wanting marine stuff.

I miss the days when folks like ADB and Laurie Goulding and Peter Fehervari were active on BL related forums. It was cool to interact with authors, though sometimes the “fans” could be toxic. That combined with GW/BL being so locked down on what can be discussed saw that drift away.

Not that I’m aware, it’s not a public FB group you have to join it to view the photos.  Let me see if I can figure out a way to take some photos and share them here.
