My rule of thumb is "no -1 to hit weapons on a model with less than three attacks." Chosen Champ? Sure. Chosen themselves? Nah.

That just made me realize something:

Thunder Hammer on a World Eaters Berzerker Champion. Excuse me while I clean up after myself.

My interest however was peaked by someone saying chaos slamguines? is this just a case of throwing a jump back and thunder hammer onto a lord?

Someone also said something about a juggerlord slamguines!

Yeah people started to call everything with a Thunderhammer and Jump Pack Captain Smash/Slamguinius. Which is far from correct though. The true strength of Captain Smash comes from a combination of things like
  • the relic Jump Pack allowing him to ignore Overwatch and re-roll charges
  • a WT that makes his hammer D4
  • a Stratagem for a permanent +1A and a 6+++
  • a Stratagem for +1d3A
  • a Stratagem to fight a second time/after death
  • a Stratagem to let him re-position the same way as if he'd arrive from reserves
  • a Stratagem that lets Jump Pack units that come from reserves or get set up with the Stratagem mentioned before roll 3d6 for a charge
  • the Blood Angels trait that gives +1 to wound the turn he charged, got charged or used Heroic Intervention.
The Chaos Lord with Thunderhammer and Jump Pack can only emulate/copy
  • the +1 to wound with the VotLW Stratagem
  • the fight twice with the Khorne Stratagem
  • the permanent +1A and 6+++ Stratagem via Warlord trait
  • (if you go World Eaters) the +1d3A Stratagem via Legion Trait but only if the Blood Angels player rolls a 1 for the additional attacks
but is lacking the option to take a Stormshield (which is kinda a huge deal since 3++ is a LOT better than a 4++) and everything else that makes the Captain Smash so great compared to a regular Captain with Thunderhammer and Jump Pack.
Thanks for the clarification bud.

This still sounds really beefy and possibly one of the better load outs for a chaos lord I've seen in a ages. I see myself converting up a 'slamguines' lord. However I feel he now Needs a suitably chaos title.

I think like everyone else I plan on running a couple squads of havocs but go for the cheaper option and stick them in rhinos.

Question is do you keep them separate from one another or try and consolidate with buffs and the like by punching both squads close to one another?

I'm waiting to see how the various specialist detachments cobble together to elevate a bunch of units then will try and work that together with Abaddon (model is too good not to use) some cheap troops for CPs and a couple of FW goodies though not decided on what form they'll take (probably a Leviathan, what's not to like about Leviathans)

My plan: getting 3 shadowspear reselling all primaris, reselling 1 MoP 2 Gret Possessed and stuff.

From there, having an almost complete army, there are 2 routes. I'd buy:

- 2 discordants and eventually one mauler/forgefiend

- or 2 termi and 2 havoc boxes  + Abbadon.

I'll end probably taking both at some point in the future to be complete collection wise.

Funny thing: by the game of reselling the shadowspear stuff, the 3 chaos halves costed me around ... 5eur/5£/5$ lol

I really liked the sound of a Devastation Battery (come on that's so Iron Warriors it's like a Haemochromatosic lemon!) But looking at a screenshot of it on BoLS it seems a bit wasted on Iron Warriors. I haven't played a game of 40k for years now so I'm probably very wrong and hopefully someone can make sense of it for me lol.

Anyone else looking at custom Havoc conversion? The actual models just aren't doing it for me - they've got the "impractical anywhere but single-purpose battlefield use" problem that makes so many minis feel like toys rather than something representing living, in-universe being who spends like 99.999% of their time not walking around with a giant gun.

The Pop Goes the Monkey Rip Cannons seem like prime candidates for Rotor Cannon replacements, and I'm thinking of using Kataphron Breacher armor to represent the T5 upgrades - concentrating on the upper torso makes a lot of sense for stabilization. Anyone else have other ideas?

I feel like that’d get awkward on those years/long voyages in the belly of a transport ship as it cruises through the Warp.

“Hey, we’re gonna go play some badminton, wanna come?”

“Nope, just gonna...stand around...with my awkwardly large gun. Y’all go ahead.”

When you spend so much time in the Warp that your armor literally becomes your skin and your own body produces an endless supply of ammunition...well. You just might not be *able* to put your gun down.

Although I've always enjoyed the lore that some marines have become one with their armour I try and avoid this myself. Humanize them a bit. Being able eat, sleep, bathe, drink.

I'm thinking of having two bricks of 20 Alpha Legion possessed, both Nurgle and having one buffed by the -1 to hit prayer and the other with the miasma of pestilence and both with cursed earth. It dilutes the buffs a little more, but it doubles the threat as well.

*THIS* is a pretty sexy idea......

I don't know if I intend to own quite that many possessed BUT.... Will get 20 for sure and the double stack of that trick is nice.

Apparently we can still have 2 heavy weapons per 10+ CSM troopers in the new book. So my plans are 2 rotor cannons to add an extra 2 to every troop squad, so three CSM squads of 12 with bolters. I think everyone is planning rotor cannons, I was on FW today and the rotor cannons were out of stock. I think FW has an inside man in the GW financial department, saying only 1 rotor cannon in the new havoc box, to funnel sales to FW

*FW sleeper agent- "JUST AS PLANNED! HYDRA DOMINATUS!"*

If I could some how get the nurgle daemon Prince head shrunk down to Dark Apostle size, I'd make a Purge Dark Apostle "Reverend Father Uncle Ruckus" for my Black Crusade games. (I do a pretty good Uncle Ruckus impression, so I use his voice when in character)

So would he be a Chaos Marine who hates Chaos Marines and likes loyal Space Marines?
