An oldie but goodie finally finished. Printed Baron Gigantus around 2.5 years ago to test the then brand-new Atlas Vulcan Resin that I backed on KS. I wasn't happy with the resin and I hadn't yet dialed it in for smaller layer heights than 50 micron.  I didn't bother after my tests didn't prove fruitful. I primed him and painted him to test out various skin color schemes as he's mostly exposed skin. I think he came out pretty well all things considered.

Baron G will be a warboss in my Rokka mob. The sonic assault from the loudspeakers will count as a power klaw. :D

Next up on this month's completed projects is the Orc Minigunner, or the "Orkinator" as I refer to him. Like Baron G, he was printed in a flurry of activity 2.5 years ago and before I tuned for better detail and smaller layer heights. As such, some of the layer lines are painfully visible, but I did my best with them. Painting a model in head to toe black leather was a bit of a challenge, but I found a happy medium. The satisfaction of clearing a long-overdue project from the painting desk makes up for all of it.

Third project completed this month: "Da Macheen". Mr.Modulork 6 month loyalty reward. Since all of my Orks are Rokkas, they'll be dressed as '80s metalheads. If we didn't wear leather, it was denim, hence the jorts. :D

Final completion for May, and the one I'm the most proud of. While I love Mr. Modulork's Rokk Starr, the speakers on the shoulders were a bit too much for my taste. So I set about making my own speaker squigs. (This was well before GW's corny looking "Goff Rocker" fig was released.)  The only problem I had was how to connect his amp to the speakers. Why not "Blootoof"? (Patent pending. :P ) A few bits later and the idea made sense. He only waited close to 3 years for paint.

First time participating in the Call To Arms. My first vow:

I, YoungWolf7, heed the Call to Arms and pledge to paint the following models for 38 points for the Glory of the Orks subfaction and the Xenos Stronghold on or before 15th September 2025, or bear the badge of failure until year's end.

Vow #1:

  • 1 Ork Warboss [5]
  • 1 Attack Squig [1]
  • 10 Ork Boyz [10]
  • 2 Runtherds [2]
  • 20 Gretchin [20]
  • [38 points total]

I have 3 vows mapped out that will take me to 103 points total, 87 total models in 90 days. This should prove interesting...

The first rank of Grots are complete. 10 models in 8 days. I need to keep that pace if I'm going to finish all 3 vows I have planned.

I have a soft spot for these old metal Gorkamorka Grots. I don't know why. They look better than the plastics that replaced them IMHO. That's why they've earned a spot in my main Ork army which is mostly 3D printed.
