Doing the back and booster pack of the Blood Angels Jump Contemptor now.

NMM takes a super long time to do so I need a break from it. After I finish the torso I’m going to take a two week break and hit up another project before coming back to it.

Wow. Absolutely stunning. Do you have any tips on where to start with nmm? I tried it on a sword. warcolours black and white with acrylic retarder but it absolutely didnt work. Kept pulling up paint all the time.

 

Gotta get me a mkiib LR one of these days as well

I received some Aquilon this morning and some features have been damaged; a corner of a top plate, the eagle head from a pauldron, and some banding from another pauldron have been chipped off. I guess this happened in transit as the kit was checked?

 

Just after a little sanity check - am I fixing these myself or going back to FW?

Send them a picture they might just send you a new one then you can use the intact ones.

I just dealt with FW Customer Service these last few weeks for Crimson Paladins that came out of the box with the worst wilted banana syndrome I’ve encountered.

 

Take photos of everything, including your proof of purchase/receipt. Also include a link of FW’s instructions on how they recommend fixing things and mention how you followed their suggestions to no avail (nod your head you tried what they suggested), at least on the things that are fixable.

 

FW is going to be slow to respond and they will likely ask for you to pack up your bad unit and ship back to them at your shipping cost*. Previously they might just send you a new unit. But, they should be cool about taking care of you overall.

 

For all we gripe about them, FW’s customer service is top notch overall. They are definitely MUCH slower than before (it’s taken me 3 weeks from first note to them to receiving my shipping confirmation of the new item), and as mentioned they are now asking for the bad unit to be sent back...but I will still give them very high marks. Considering the year we live in and the fact that they probably have a 3month backlog to catch up on, with some patience and understanding I think you’ll be happy.

 

 

*if you’re in the Western Hemisphere, you can request shipping to their Tennessee facility instead to save on shipping

@sarabando I'd go for Lysander, he'll fit in well with the other Fists Terminators you've been doing. A decent pose to build from too.

Though, with the Tigris combi-bolters, the side hole is already there. Which, amusingly enough, makes drilling out the main hole more difficult because if you screw up, you blow out the sides of the barrel.

 

You can see the sidewall of the barrel is slightly cracked on the left barrel (further back one in the image) because of that, so I need to fix that before I paint it.

I would love to see what you could do with Tyberos, but for a consistent look i would say Go for Lysander.

I turned a Blood Angel Captain in Terminator Armour (aka Capt Karlean) into a Sgt. Chopped the TH into a sword, did a head swap, and did not attach the grail above his head. Very simple way to fill out a squad.

 

Considering they were stuffing that model into every BA set for years, you can find the, quite cheap. People at my club were literally just handing them to me for awhile.

I'd love to see you tackeling the tyberos model btw.

I am not too sure how well his lightningclawchainfists will fit with the rest of your guys.

 

In terms of hobby progress:

I am finishing the edgehighlights on the non metal parts of my 3 rhino chassis currently. I should hopefully have them done come sunday, when we'll have a small scale campaign.

I am trying metals done by drybrushing red brown over black followed by metal colours for the first time so lets see on that. Its my hope that it'll save me one oil wash but I already get the feeling that it wont.

also my first time doing chipping medium on something thats not a base.

after listening to NightFane, and then watching jason and golden fleece ive got a real hankering for a small smurf force based on a raid on  Cholcis to get the golden fleece.

I got some metal black templar swordbrethren lying around. My first impulse was to turn them into charakters. My secon impulse was seekers and my currebt impulse is veterans with cc weapons/honour guard. I think making them a squad is a better option than doing charakters as they have a cohesive look going on.

Yesterday I played my first 2 two matches of zone mortalis. I badly lost both do to some critical errors I made but man I had a blast playing those games.

Now I played 5 games of horus heresy this year. That is already more than last year. How many games do you play per year?

I play ZM once a week and AoD one a month...but I run a school club ;-).
