if you want a slightly smaller helmet for the scout bodies, the scion heads are the classic replacement - cutting away the trim on the head and adding a central ridge helps tie them into the legion aesthetic a bit more too:

(also for anyone using the plastic scouts, I'd recommend adding a spacer to the waist to help out the proportions a bit - I found hole-punched 0.5mm plasticard  perfect)

Those are great conversions, but scion heads look like... scion heads. To me they make scouts look like scions with astartes weapons.

MkIV heads make them fit right in with fully armoured FW's recon MkIV marines. It also makes sense that the otherwise never depicted "recon armour" was able to use the same helmets.

Some good options here.

I think the Palanite Enforcers would make great heads (admittedly harder to find on bits sites).

I think my main issue with the plastic scouts is actually the BP/CCW ones as the poses on those are very awkward. Fortunately there are plenty of metal pistol and combat weapon options (especially as I play Sixth Legion so have the SW sculpts too, if only Mournival events rules allowed their vet squad to carry a couple of plasma pistols as well as a special weapon haha).

Of the metal scouts I think the shotgun with face mask is my favourite. More shotgun-recon squads please!

I don't think I have that chap yet, will have to dig through my stash of Scouts. I do however have two SW Scouts with shotguns that I had no idea existed as models (despite some awesome artwork in the 3rd Ed Codex) until I saw them and snapped them up.

I'll probably be doing a squad mixed with BP/CCW and Shotguns to keep the models varied.

I have also acquired the Russ/Magnus diorama base in anticipation of getting both these fantastic Primarchs later (probably a couple of years, I did put them both in my basket for that giveaway because that would have been sweet). Haven't even got them yet and I'm kind of anxious as I'd love to do them justice and I'm not a great painter.

I disappeared for a very long while, some sci-fi burn out and also moving haven't been the most beneficial to hobby time. Though I'm back on the train, and the most recent finished things for 30k are some Terminators for the Dark Angels collection. I wanted to up the flavor in these, so I sculpted the loin cloths and knight-habits and belts. The sword on the sargeant is a failed print, with the blade cut off (the failed part) and one of those AoS Bladegeist blades added. Let me know what you all think!

Oh those are lovely. Any picture of them in progress? Might want to steal the robes for my own Cataphractii

Thank you! Here you go.

some dirty boiz. They look great.

Appreciate it! Thanks.

Great looking models in your usual high quality.

The robes are super good! Whats your secret to getting them to look like that? I want to do tartaros with capes as huscarls. And maybe later down the line some indomitus pattern terminators.

@Hungry Nostraman Lizard Solid work on the Cataphractii, particularly the weathering. You got them painted up quickly!

Right? By all accounts, I speed painted... I've got a lot on my plate, and having another thing half completed would only drain me more, so I soldiered on to get them finished ASAP.

Thanks so much Vespasian!

Clayshapers, lots of water, and accepting that sometimes, you just have to rip the green stuff off like a band aid on a wound and start over. Another suggestion is to that sometimes, you just need to let something sit a bit and cure. I had to add the belts a second time, and I definitely rushed with them, I would have done them differently if I wasn't pressing myself to meet the July deadline for the #hobby2021challenge tag on Instagram!

So you completely forwent the pteruges on the Cataphractii.... Interesting and noted -also saved for future reference-

Also, in other news: I've gotten the painted Dark Angels out of the stripping solution. Now I've got to do the clean-up and repairs

Man I totally get.you with wanting to finish something. Jeah i might have to do that for my tartaros squad when the tartaros praetor drops.

I find it surprising that there are no 3rd party/3d print bits for robes and/or cloaks on terminators considering how many people want that.

I started painting the first few models of lunar auxilia the other day and the amount of hypotheticly planned infantry fro that army is giving me conniptions....

Also considering stripping some parts of my black templar army to add to my 30k IF namely 3 rhinos and my 10 indomitus termoes including 2 hq models. They are heavily blinged out in BT bits though so might be too mucb for heresy/i might need to take the knife to em

A question friends. I have a number of razorbacks laying around spare since they became redundant in 40k. I’d like to turn them into mars pattern rhinos for 30k, but the ‘tank ring’ top is glued solid. Are there any possible third party ‘cupolas’ or similar out there to stick on the top to save cutting them to pieces?

Ideas:

Fill the empty hole and put a third hatch using the ones from  the Legion Pintle Weapons Set. Leave the two in the front plain or recessed.

Put some kind of elaborate radar dish in one of the razorbacks to make a Damocles rhino.

EDIT: Kromlech "Legionary APC" parts may be what you were looking for:

I've found, that putting a Slide-door underneath the hole was working really well for me.

Done that on a Storm Raven, can post pictures, when i come home.

Basically, you can take a piece of plasticard, cut them in the same scheme as the Rhino-Hatch and glue it underneath. =]

Not seen anything like this, but maybe buy ‘Blood and Skulls’ turrets and make predators instead?

Or convert the razorback weapon so it is, say, single heavy bolter or multimelta plus searchlights - since these additional weapons are legal in 30k rhinos.

Or these might fit: https://popgoesthemonkey.com/products/helios-rider-missle-tracking-sensor-array?_pos=38&_sid=73819f5f2&_ss=r

There is also an impulsor conversion kit that might go over the whole lot.
