Kill Team, Heresy Thousand Sons, Inquisition and Imperial Agents WIP

Thank you for the kind words!

I did raid my bits collection and found some nice usable things in there, I am quite happy how the troopers turned out.

Today, I did some basing on the Necron Deathmarks and also undercoated my Inquisition troopers.

Finished the Inquisition Stormtrooper / Kasrkin Kill Team today.

I tried to challenge myself using only a limited dark and brooding colour scheme, which fits nicely with the dark purpose of His Holy Inquisition.

Sergeant Mafessa, loyal guard veteran and his men, specifically selected veterans from different regiments all over the quadrant, assembled by the Inquisition for a secret, still unknown mission

Heavy boots sound outside the private chambers of Inquisitor (REDACTED) onboard the fast black Inquisition Strike Cruiser (REDACTED).

The Inquisitor turns around from the window, where he had been standing for more than half an hour, looking out to the massive Space Hulk looming in the black void.

Ten men in dark uniforms enter the chamber, all of them wearing helmets, from which only the blue eye lenses glow in a sinister blue light.

"Sergeant Mafessa", the Inquistor says, "the day you have prepared for has arrived. Our Navy Breachers under the indomitable Mira Holden have established a beachhead onboard this damned pile of warp-junk. She reports some infestation with some vile traitors and some vicious aliens, but so far, they have kept to the shadows and stayed away from all-out conflict."

- "Mira has always been devious, and the shadows are her natural habitat. I do not doubt she is skilled in laying an ambush and running away before things heat up. But she does not have the heart for a real battle or a less subtle assault."

- "Do not underestimate her. Others have done that, and they did not even have the time to regret it."

- "But we are not fancy dressed toy-soldiers of some backwater agriworld baron. We are specially trained veterans, especially selected and "taken away" by you and your cabal, to root out whatever heresy and alien conspiracy is cooked up in the bowels of that....., what did you call it, "damned pile of warp-junk". I will watch my back when Mira is around, and none of my men trusts her, or her Marauder rabble, further than we can throw a grenade. She is useful as a smoke-screen, nothing less."

The Inquisitor says nothing, just looks at his Sergeant, who he indeed has spirited away from his true unit during a cease-fire on a distant, war-torn world. The Inquisitor cannot even remember which one it was. It had taken months to get his team together, routing through battle reports from various Guard regiments, finding veterans who match the specific skill-set he was looking for.

And now he has assembled this team. His very own strike force of veterans.

They are trained for a specific purpose, all the while, they also bring vast experience in fighting vile aliens, filthy heretics and despicable traitors. There were reports than on board of this Space-hulk, there was his price. The key to his life goal. Never mind Mira. The sergeant is right, she and her Marauders are just useful rabble. Loyal to the throne, yes, overzealous, perhaps, but they know nothing of the true objective. They are dispensable.

As are, the Inquisitor muses, the men of the sergeant standing in front of him.

He has no bond to these faceless tools he has assembled.

He will use them as he sees fit, but he also will not worry if some of them get damaged or lost in the process.

"Sergeant, assemble your men. You will leave in the hour. The sooner we make our move, the better are our chances to catch the enemy by surprise."

The sergeant salutes, and turns to leave.

The inquisitor calls after him: " And remember, when you go in, keep com-silence. Mira will undoubtedly monitor our communications and I would like to keep her in the dark for as long as possible. Your vox-trooper will have to leave his equipment here, on my orders. Let's keep Mira in the dark as long as possible."

The sergeant nods and say nothing.

The inquisitor dismisses him: "And remember. The Emperor protects."

In other news, I also started on the Necron Deathmarks.

I have the suspicion that the Inquisitor might be after a Necron artefact, and that secret mission will be facing off against some ancient silver xenos....

(in reality, I was so captivated by the audiobook I was listening to, I was just doing a weekend painting marathon without even noticing how the time flew by! I wish that would happen more often).

Great background for your stormtroopers, I can imagine them tangling with the Breachers in the depths of the hulk, who would win?!!

That's a very effective scheme you have put together, they are a cohesive unit and menacing all fully masked.

Thank you!

Yes, that was exactly what I was going for.

The background I just set up so that if I do some demo-games and have my different Kill Teams fight each other, that I can spin a story as to why that happens (after all, Breachers and Inquisition "should" be on the same side....). This could set up a nice narrative campaign.

Got some more terrain...

I always wanted to paint one of these, even was tempted to get one of the GW terrain back when they were making these.

But missed out on it.

Now some guy is offering some 3D printed ones on Ebay for just 11 Euro (cheaper than GW terrain) so I thought I could at least give it a try.

It actually looks better than I thought, and with some added sand, skulls and a dead body, plus when painted up and covered in rust and grime, I bet this will actually be quite nice.

Will be fun and quick to paint, too.

Woah! I hope that tentacle turns up in a future Choas-tainted Kill them set!

Nice consoles!

We seriously need more Chaos tainted terrain.

I had already said that I thought it sad that the space hulk terrain did not come with some thematic modifications- so I would have loved for Shadowvaults to come with some Necron infiltrated terrain.

These Space Hulks were sent by Abbaddon according to recent campaign lore, so where are all my tentancles and eyes and mouths in the walls?

How epic would that be?

That would be something I would give an instant pre-order.

EDIT- the latest White Dwarf at least acknowledged the oversight and there are some living wall campaign cards and rules. But I want actual models.

Or do they expect me to green-stuff it all myself?

I had a great time visiting the UK and finally seeing Warhammer World.

Believe the hype.

It is as great as they say.

I spend much too much money- mainly on re-inforcements for my Night Lords army (which is still one of my most favorite hobby projects I ever did, keeping my attention and having me add to it for several years now!).

But I also got another Inquisitor for my Inquisitorial collection.

And yes, Tyberos will also be painted up in Midnight Clad. Even when the staffer at Warhammer World protested and called him a "Good Guy".

Yes. Indeed. There are people who think Tyberos the Red Wake is "a good guy".

Nah.

He is perfect Night Lords material.

Plus I also got another Necron Spyder.

The Inquisitor and the Spyder will be perfect side projects for when I get a bit tired of painting all that dark blue!

Finished a Legion Moritat.

He was originally planned to join my Night Lords, but then I realized the model would not fit in visually without excessive modification- and I actually liked the model as he was!

(well apart from the ammo feed lines which I left off).

He would also not really have fitted the narrative and overall plan of my Night Lords army.

Well, so he joined my force of Loyalist Thousand Sons. And he does not look too bad.
