It's always been the case. The destroyer virus turns them utterly homicidal and slightly nuts to boot.

I find it amusing that you consider "utterly homicidal" and "slightly nuts" to be distinct from one another.

I'm sure that itd be possible to be rational and homicidal?... Maybe!

One's rationality is completely divorced from one's objectives.

An argument could be made for survival but beyond that logic is how one achieves goals, not how one chooses them.

So ya, you can be rationally homicidal.

The classical example of this would actually just be a computer programmed to murder people. Which is essentially what a destroyer is.

Back on topic, I'd be curious how Flayed Ones would be included into Destroyer Cults since the Flayer Curse is something quite different in that it was conceived and executed as vengeance by a C'Tan (L-something or another) whereas that's not the case with Destroyers.

Or is it? Dun dun dun. I expect there to be a lot of new information regarding this (and a lot else) in the new Codex despite tempering my expectations to a sentence here or there.

If they were somehow related to the destroyer corruption, I would be in favor of them a lot more. Maybe it can be a bit of both? C'tan curse that is related to destroyer madness but is unique in itself. It would be a lot easier for me to include them in my destroyer army then. I love flayed ones narrative speaking by themseves, but I do not like them as part of my normal necron army. As I like to keep the "corrupted" crons out of the mix. But an entire army of destroyers and corruption...yes please.

I was hoping GW would allow for a pure canoptek force to mirror the destroyer army.

I haven't read a Necron codex since 3rd edition, where do they stand on morality these days?  That would be interesting to know as I might do my destroyer and flayed one themed guys separate from the army where they're falling to something.  I love paint schemes like Death Company who have a scheme within a scheme.

What are people thoughts on the Annihilation Barge? I see many comparing it to the Triarch Stalker due to their similar points.

Except even worse vs T7-8 due to lack of heat ray option.

Even if competitively priced, I imagine most people won't bring them because it doesn't add anything Necrons need. It's just more S5-7 shooting in an army of pretty much exclusively that.

I'm with you on keeping the Cults separated from my Dynasty's main forces lest their influence spread. Flayed Ones as Troops would be an auto-include in my growing Destroyer Cult army.

Truly though I am pining for a Canoptek-only force, something to represent the master program responding to threats without waking the Dynasty. Maybe a HQ version of the Spyder or something totally new but I would play it on my Tomb Mortalis board all day.

I was really hoping to see a boost in its damage capacity not really the shots per se, I'm not really thinking that my three will survive the cull leading my army into 9th. I really haven't done much reading into the new rules but I was told that FLY units lost their ability to fall back and shoot while gaining the ability to shoot in combat. I'm not sure how this change will pan out for the effectiveness of the units just yet but I feel like Barges had a bit of a niche as a fast moving large size blocking unit used for horde control and this may not work so well in their favour.

They don't compare to Stalkers, their roles are different. I've gotten the best use out of AnniBarges as fast harasment and table quarter control units or as great bodyguard units for characters that like/need to be mobile (Cloaktechs, Command Barge, or Skorpeth Lord). I like them because their quantum shielding makes them great for charging units like Eradicators. It's pointless to overwatch them with antitank weapons and they can do decent damage shooting into combat as Mephrit or if you toss them a MWBD.

Silent King will likely be about that, but I expect the Monolith to be less. Since no one needs two Silent Kings it limits sales so they price higher, but Monoliths you will want more than one (potentially at least) so it can be cheaper. This is why Magnus costs basically the same as a Knight despite being a lot less plastic.

I hope you're right but I'm still working on the assumption that monoliths will be £100. I hope I'm wrong but breath holding, I am not

I’ll happily pay the cost of a knight if the Monoliths rules make it as fun and exciting as playing a knight. I won’t pay that if it’s just an overpriced floating brick with the rules it’s got now. I’m optimistic that it’s going to be awesome tho.

On a different topic, the Lokhust Heavy Destroyer and Canoptek Doomstalker data sheets are in the Warhammer 40K app.

The new Lokhust Heavy Destroyers don’t have keywords to interact with the Skorpekh Lord. It also lacks all the destroyer buffs, so I’m thinking it’s incorrect.

I wouldn't worry about the lokhusts until the codex drops. The app is most likely incomplete or incorrect. From other errors in there this would be typical really.
