Chaplain Raeven
Greetings! Long time lurker of this part of the forum. I have my lair in the Dark Angel-section, but I've been working on various projects unrelated to them. Since I'm not interested to keep making new threads for every new faction I delve into, I'll concentrate them all in this place. Expect projects on Dark Angels, Consecrators, Goliaths (Necromunda), Guardsmen (KT) and some Imperial Knights (for fun). More projects depend on how bad my self control is. Since it's the start of a new thread, some pictures of the current collection are in order. I'll post them up when I get the chance to make some pictures. I'm a mediocore painter and a terrible photographer, so please don't be too harsh First up, the lads who started it all. I haven't painted Dark Angels for years. My side project of the Consecrators grew out to become my main project, dwarfing my current force of the Green Lads. They're still in my collection as extra's, but they're more or less finished, since I have no intention to paint more Dark Angels. My very first model! All of the Greenwing. And my Deathwing More to come! Chaplain Raeven
Thanks for the comments lads! Now on to the non-DA stuff, and the whole reason this thread got started in the first place. Here's my inital Kill Team from when they released Shadow War. I can't seem to photograph multiple rows right in the first go, so excuse me for the first two pics please. The entire team: The regular grunts: Veterans (grunts with better armour/weapons): Specialists: Sergeants/Commissar's: Elites: This one was just for fun, had the model on hand. Still needs finishing. A head for the melta, painting for the medic and a testmodel for some MTO Vostroyans I've picked up. Bjorn Firewalker
Good job. Is the purple meant to ID the guardsmen as those in service to their home world's royalty? Chaplain Raeven
Good job. Is the purple meant to ID the guardsmen as those in service to their home world's royalty? Indeed it is. I wanted to make them part of an IDF force of a wooded planet/region (hence the green armour), while the purple links them to the Knights that they're supporting. While I'm mentioning the Knights, I might as well show them in their various states of painting. The two regular Knights need a rebase to a trench base, while one of them still needs his decals as well. The Castigator has just been assembled. I'm planning on replicating his base for the two painted Knights. Chaplain Raeven
Necromunda's next! It's the project I'm working on right now. I painted up the original contents of the starter set and picked up some of the extra models as Hired Guns when it first came out. Haven't expanded much on them until now, I should double my forces in a couple of weeks so I can play some games! The Lockdown made sure I don't have any of the new releases yet, but all in due time. The Team: Shooty Lads Smashy lads Hired guns and the first pewter testmodel Upcoming models The Knights are well-painted. Thanks! Torbenos
Quite the impressive collection you have managed to amass there. Large and painted! More than many of us ever manage, speaks of dedication. The chosen colourscheme is certainly striking with the violet and greens. I imagine it really makes them pop on the field. The paint jobs are really clean and bright, can't see a speck out of place. An intresting collection of scions, you don't often see people mix the old and the new, the different versions have a very different aesthetic. What parts goes into the middle one of the specialists? Greenz
Awesome to see your collection of models GRC! Chaplain Raeven
And finally the last portion of the collection. Took me a while to set everything for photo's, I should move my storage to a more accessable space. These guys started out as a side project to paint up all the miniatures from B@C and any model of FW that caught my eye. When Primaris happened I painted a couple of freebies up in this scheme for fun, but it got out of control. So much so that I retired my initial army of Dark Angels and went all in with the Consecrators. You'll find HH-era miniatures, the new guys and any pewter classics I managed to grab a hold on. The Army: Primaris: Ye Olde Lads: Terminators: HQ's Armour: I'll revisit these at some point, they could use some extra detailing Good job on House Goliath's members. Thanks! Thank you! The lack of mixing between old and new is probably because the old ones are damn hard to find I regret not ordering some when they were Made to Order, but the new Scions are a nice alternative. Didn't make the same mistake when the Vostroyans were sold though! The middle specialist is a Kolony Rebel Specialist from Pig Iron. I couldn't find an alternative Sniper at the time I was building these squads. Awesome to see your collection of models GRC! The purple is a nice change of colour, but I've gone a bit overboard with it I've painted terrain with it and I still regret it. Good thing the mini's turned out better. Graceless
Really neat painting! You must have a very steady hand. As Torbenos said, I can't see a spot out of place. Chaplain Raeven
I've been productive for a change! Almost doubled the amount of lads in my Necro-gang. Finally used the upgrade blisters I had in my collection since they released. I ordered the new Goliaths, so I'm looking forward to work on those. And in between projects I've been working on this ancient beast! It's only two years younger than I am, so I was nervous to use the dremel on it. After some fiddling with bad fitting pieces, it's all assembled and primed! Still wondering how I'm going to paint it. Really neat painting! You must have a very steady hand. As Torbenos said, I can't see a spot out of place. I particularly like your completed knight, very clean and I like the pose too. Great job! Thank you! I've been meaning to dirty my models up a bit, but still haven't found the time for it. Clean marines aren't bad either I supose. Fine work on the Consecrators. Thank you! Chaplain Raeven
Well, seems like it's been a while! I neglected this thread a bit, since I've mainly been painting my Consecrators. As a result my thread at the DA-forums gets updated more often. I intend to paint up some Nightlords for the next couple of months. Since those don't really fit in the DA-section, it's time to reanimate this space again. I had some CSM left from the Shadowspear boxset, which I'll paint up as a small Killteam for the 'Knives in the Dark- Challenge'. I'll start with the Sinister Six, but eventually I plan to paint up the entire boxset. Here are the lads that I'll be working on: And since it has been two years, here's a small portion of the models in finished up for my Consecrators in that timeframe: Edited October 26, 2022 by Chaplain Raeven Urauloth, Kurgan the Lurker, Stef Coudou and 9 others 10 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364454-raevens-various-projects-call-to-arms-entries/#findComment-5879066 Share on other sites

Chaplain Raeven
I painted up an old Marine to test out the new technique I was going to use. I liked the blue, but the gold/brass trim wasn't much to my liking. After some consideration, I've decided to go for their Heresy-era scheme, with silver trim instead of the golden one. While our Veteran was out on the desk, it seemed like a good time to practise the freehand I would use for the Chapter-badges. The transfers on my Consecrators are a pain in the ass, freehand seemed like the better way for my boys in blue. After the suffering of Timmy Test, the first Marine was ready for his paintjob. I painted this lad from start to finish to at least test the progress before I batchpaint the rest of 'em. So. Much. Bloody. TRIM!
