I liked the blue, but the gold/brass trim wasn't much to my liking. After some consideration, I've decided to go for their Heresy-era scheme, with silver trim instead of the golden one. I don't know exactly what you were going for with the bronze but the silver trim on the NLs always looked odd to me. If I can offer a suggestion of some aged bronze similar to what I did on the shoulder pads of this praetor? I mixed a dark brown paint with Vallejo Model Color Bronze 3:1, then lightly drybrushed a 1:1 mix on the raised areas, and then pure Bronze edge highlights on the most raised areas. Chaplain Raeven
Thanks for the kind words lads! Been blocking in colours of the next five models, that way I can apply my oil wash with less waste. I appreciate the feedback. I gave it a try on the leg of one of the upcoming lads. I like the colour of bronze and I use it quite a lot on my Consecrators, but I feel like it doesn't fit with the blue scheme. I placed the testmini with bronze next to my finished marine, and I prefered the silver version. I had my doubts with the silver, so I'm glad you called it out this early, when I still can adjust my scheme before I went too far with it. If anything, this test cleared me of my doubts, so I am grateful! After all, my favorite artwork of the Night Lords has the silver trim as well. Chaplain Raeven
Finished up my Killteam for the ongoing Challenge in the subforum of the same name. It was a great reason to paint up some of my pile of shame from Shadowspear. Now that I've tested the water, I'm certainly planning on painting up the whole box and maybe expand from there. For now 11 Legionnaires to go and then some more exotic models. Here's my CC-sergeant/champion, Heavy weapon and my Special weapon. And three Bolterwielding madmen. Chaplain Raeven
Painted up a couple of extra options for the last Kill Team. Now that the Lion has finally finished his nap, it's time to get back to my Consecrators! bloodhound23, Bouargh, Dr_Ruminahui and 10 others 8 5 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364454-raevens-various-projects-call-to-arms-entries/page/2/#findComment-5939110 Share on other sites

Chaplain Raeven
Finished up the Ancient that has been collecting dust for a while. It was a nice canvas for some experimentation, even though it didn't all work out as intented. Building up my box of Indomitus and a Fire Raptor next! You can find the video I used HERE. But for your convenience: Night Lords Blue, Kantor Blue, Macragge Blue and a Black/brown oilwash to tie everything together. Chaplain Raeven
After years of gathering dust, I managed to play a game of Space Hulk with a colleague of mine a couple of weeks ago. He just got started in the hobby and wanted a nice introduction to the game. We had wonderfull time, but the Terminators were (badly) painted, and the 'Stealers were still grey. Out of shame I vowed to paint up the complete box for our next game while updating the Terminators a bit. The Call to Arms Event came just in time, so here we go! I painted up a testmodel to test out the scheme I was going for. Kraken seemed like the best one out of the bunch. With the scheme locked in, I plan to go through the boring sculpts first! Chaplain Raeven
Slowly making progress, but at least faster than my usual pace. Chaplain Raeven
Woops, forgot to update. Finished up those 'Stealers, which finally gives me a fully painted Space Hulk set. Then I joined a Escalation league, which resulted in a couple of painted units for my Consecrators. I lost most matches but a large margin, but at least the pile of grey has shrunk a bit. And I've finally begun the great effort of the next project! During a build like this, one really appreciates the plastic kits a lot more! Chaplain Raeven
As usual I always forget to update my progress during an event. Here are the latest models painted during the Call to Arms. I was hoping to paint up a bit more of my Night Lords, but alas, it was a busy summer. On 5/9/2024 at 5:23 PM, Pearson73 said: Wow! The chequerboard pattern on the Land Raider looks fantastic!
