Hello Everyone

It's been a while, but after a bit of post-summer chaos, I'm finally in a position where I can start participating in the game again!

Although, I have to admit that I haven't really been keeping up with the IC posts that well, and feel a bit out of the loop. Can anyone give a quick overview of what's happened since we arrived at the dig site?

Welcom back, hope everything is alright with you.

A quick summary

You all spent a few days exploring and digging.

By noonish of day 11 (the current day) you had collectively unearthed three items of intrest:

  • a tablet with two different forms of writing, one on each side. Varn and Ravia respectively recognised one set each, though neither can read the actual content (and the actual content is not plot critical anyway), the players have outside the game deduced that this is a Rosetta Stone kind of deal, so when things are less hectic they may want to explore this further in character.
  • A sealed chest, which while looking like human manufacture bares none of the identifying marks of either forgeworld or imperial manufacture, nor does it adhere to standard manufacturing pattern of the imperium
  • A statue about half the size of a person with an oversized head in proportion to the rest.

After reporting this find to HQ, the Archmagos’s personnel informed you that there was a convoy of vehicles from an unknown party making its way through the grassland and your location is a likely destination. They are estimated to arrive in the next day or two.

By mid afternoon of day 11 a Valkyrie arrived, and with it Sergeant Rahul and a few men, they had orders to secure and retrieve the items you found and take them back.

However this turned into an ambush with several more troopers appearing and trying to kill the team. This combat is currently drawing to a close. David has been severely damaged, and most of the players are injured. During the combat there was also some unknown thing going round and killing things. But that seems to have abated for now.

As I see it you have a few options, though feel to suggest you own if you can think of something else your character might want to do.

One. Wait at the site and see what the convoy entails. Perhaps dig in and fortify.

Two. Leave, either with the goliath, or without. You still have the Wolfquad that you can load up with supplies and then head out on foot if you so wanted. The Goliath Truck itself is still functional, but damaged. Until repaired (and repairs will take a lot of time) distance covered as you travel will be reduced and the goliath will not provide shelter (from the elements for example should the weather turn).

If you decide to head out do you want to head towards the mountain site or elsewhere (to shake of any potential pursuers for example).

Three.  Make raft and head out onto lake.

Do we have any way to contact HQ or is the comms equipment completely destroyed?

Aria grabbed the vox system before disembarking, thinking that the Valkyrie might make another pass at the goliath.

Long range Comms are indeed still intact, so contacting the Expedition HQ in Keringrat or the Arch-Magos's ship in orbit are possible. In fact you could try to reach out to other groups as well if you wanted to try. Say Port Havamn, or the PDF station at Ropgard, even place you have not been to such as Trumheim or Estgord are possible. It is just a question of what would be helpful and what not.

My thoughts would be to leave with the Goliath. It may be slower, but the Goliath can be fixed and even a slowly moving transport is probably faster than on foot.

Don't really have a thought on where to go though.

Given the storms on the world it makes sense to patch up the goliath - weld them over any significant holes with blow off-plates and salvage from storage boxes, patch the soft-top with animal hide or whatever else we have to hand. It's vulnerable to further damage but not any less functional that previously and our only means of moving anything of real size including anyone wounded, short of trying to drag it behind the wolf-quad.

Anyone badly injured is going to want the rest the goliath provides while on the move to heal up as well.

As for where we go... ?

My vote would be to try a repair or two, then head towards the mountain site. We're still a day or two from the raider convoy hitting the lake site, so might have a little time to repair/heal on the way.

Sounds good, Helene could also use a bit of Aid so she isn’t heavily wounded. Pretty sure she still has a Cold through all of this too

I think the cold will have passed by now, the lakside fresh air in the previous days would have taken care of it.  I had Helene down as havign ull healt at the beinning of the last combat encounter.

So 2 for reapir now, 1 for repair tomorrow

@A.T. any preference

@TechCaptain, @BadgersinHills I assume you guys are still otherwise occupied by life. But do chime up if you have any thoughts.

Before I post - I take it we were able to gather the equipment from the fallen attackers to look for clues?

Unfortunately not, between the injuries sustain in general, the damage to David, the treat of the Valk and the unknown thing and the convoy there was not much time and other things were priority.

You, or anybody really, may make an Ordinary (+10) Scrutiny test to see if you noticed any additional detail during the fight or later upon review of the fight in your mind.

Was there anything specific you where looking for/thinking of?

Grabbing up the weapons / searching for tags and similar so that we could compare them/hand them in. One of the dead attackers can't have been more than 30 feet from Arias hiding place and I think a few of the others were practically sheltering under their corpses having stabbed them to death :p

While he was just in front of David when you dispatched him he was caught in one of the multi-laser barrages, either in the one that damaged the Goliath or in the follow-up as the Valk departed and it tried to burn you all out.

The one killed by Helene in melee would have met a similar fate, though I suppose a particular good scrutiny  or search test might find/reveal something...

The other two dead are respectfully blown up (by himself) and in the lake.
