How have I not checked in here yet?! Amazing work, that red is gorgeous, can I ask for a link if you've shared the recipe somewhere? It's so smooth on that storm speeder. Always a pleasure to see a non-standard chapter, you do Orar proud!

Thanks xenith.
I actually got to take them out for a game today and was great to see units on the tabletop.
the red is quite straightforward, Mephiston red spray then a single coat of brushed on paint. Pinwash with Agrax earth then tidy as needed. Evil sunz scarlet and Wild rider red highlight. Then, magic ingredient, an all over glaze of angron red clear. This is fine on individual models but hard to get smooth on the tanks. Would be easier to airbrush on the last step i suspect.

Very nice

The chipping on the Land Raider looks great

Cheers. The sponge is my friend for chipping.

This is what I'm missing! I do the exact same method for my BA's, but they look a little duller. I've played with some contrast glazes before, maybe I need to thin them down a bit to get that pop!

it’s a bit bright and patchy but once you put the munitorun (semi gloss) spray on it it finished nicely. Definitely give it a go.

Well that was quick work

indeedy. Liking grimdark painting - much quicker and more forgiving. Hoping to finish over the weekend. Stuck on what color to do the plasma - I’m thinking orange or green for a change as I normally do blue. Green may not contrast enough with the blue though.

I'm inclined to say orange, but there again that's also associated with Chaos' plasma. Interestingly, GW uses turquoise on their Ultramarines Hellblasters ...

Calling them almost done. Need a coat of varnish and some more pigments sprinkled on. This is a weeks worth of effort probably averaging a couple of hours a day so it’s going to be a hard 5 weeks but doable I reckon.

They look great - very gritty and not your normal "bright" Ultramarines. The dirty boots is a nice touch.

thanks. I’ve added finishing touches now so will probably add final pics. Will be interesting to see if I can get the full project done in the allotted time. I have a drop pod from my old UM army I may play with some streaking grime on.

Also,  credit where it’s due. Although I didn’t really use any of his techniques trovarion on YouTube was the inspiration for the project.

Last ones I promise. Finished now. Though it’s interesting to note the difference in the boots both before and after the spray. I can always slap some more powder on them again if consensus is they were better before?

That really has affected the weathering powders, hasn't it?

Yes unfortunately. I’ve gone back over with some powder on the feet to restore it. I’ve noticed previously that whether using medium or varnish on pigments it tends to do this.
