State of the Union (Heresy)

100%. Automating moderation is... well, we're all aware of what comes of that. When I was running my previous employers Facebook page there were a handful of incidents where customers messages were dumped straight into the spam folder because the filter thought of them as such, even though they were all fairly above board, honest messages.

GW has a long proud history of disabling comments and ignoring social media starting from when they couldn't take the heat from their own forums and shut them down. They've certainly turned a corner in recent years, modernizing and getting in line with all the other big companies posting media. Make no mistake though, they still don't really care about what you have to say. But that's not unique to GW, that's just big business using social media in 2021.

... which makes their disabled youtube comments even more funny. GW still just can't get with the times :smile.:

Yep. Add in absolutely dire communication on release schedules and plans for the future leaves many desperate for info, although they have improved... somewhat, I still remember back to the early days of the first Imperial Armour books & model releases in the early 2000's, FW was always rubbish at this.

I was surprised by the quality and relatively speedy release of the first few black books, but I think that was due primarily to Alan Bligh being the driving force behind the HH, given this project was very much his baby after having a tested the waters with the Badab War books to see if there was an audience for historical campaigns.

So I'm not entirely surprised by the glacial release window and the lack of communication on the HH, par for the course in my experience. I think it's more that FW and GW has reverted to form. Although it'd be nice if they let us know a little info every now and again, or outline what their plans are/ aspirations for the game over the next few years.

It's unlikely I'd say, HH has always had it's own stuff on the HH weekender (which hasn't happened) so for them to roll it into Warhammer fest... I mean it's possible and I'd be a very happy man to be wrong.

Didn't they turn what was historically a HH weekender into a "Specialist Games" one once?

Part of me is hopeful given the stuff they were saying around the Maloghurst reveal (new article series focusing on 30k models and FW social media folks were suggesting some pretty cool stuff is coming. Of course could just be hype).

IF we get something, then I will bet that it will be Shabran Darr (lest we forget Angron of all people being racist lol) or Durak Rask or... omg I would murder for Crysos Morturg. Dont play DG or even see their appeal but I would buy him in a heartbeat!

That would stick to their current trend of finishing up missing characters from the early books.

Unlikely but the most likely among the 30k's MIA roster.

If we were to dream then I would say Plastic Assault Squads.

You would think that since they didnt do an online HH Weekender either, that there'd at least be news for the HH here on WH Fest. They used to do that in the past as well at Warhammer Fest, FW was present. But it could also be a sign that there is nothing to report if they really dont spend any time during this whole week of news on the Heresy. Lets hope for some significant news.

Hey I keep hearing about Heresy 2.0, but I'm wondering where this rumour started? Is it a thing we know is happening for sure or is it just one of those things that some "anonymous source" leaked/made up? Not trying to ruin things for folks, I'm just wondering if someone can enlighten me as to the origins of this rumour so that I can get a better perspective on it?

Thanks in advance :)

So far its nothing more than an anonymous source.

Most of the commentary I have read online, on FB groups and the like, is someone making a comment like "I have heard that HH 2.0 will be like 9th edition" and then immediately about 750 people commenting with the angry face emoticon and "get the **** out" or similar expletives!

Damn right so.

I always make the "hug" emote because I am a softie, but GOD DAMN RIGHT. ;)

Call me crazy but I think fridays secret will be horus heresy related.

You're crazy!

I know it won't happen, because it is the lot of a poor bloody soldier to be trampled upon and kept in a constant state of disappointment, but I'd really like just a hint of the Guard refresh that has to, some day, be coming.

I will settle for no primaris announcements, however.

Something that isn't Cadian, or Scion themed would be amazing. Though the guard need -something- at this point.

Im fine with many of the changes suggested in those rumors but I dont want the Black Books cancelled.

I don't see them getting cancelled, they usually sell very well.

The styling of the more recent HH figures has been increasingly in line with the main studio – bolder, chunkier details. I think that's a deliberate strategic choice, to ensure the GW aesthetic extends across the whole brand. In the past, FW designs seemed to have much more leeway.

Not saying that's a good or a bad thing, but I'd fairly confidently predict Maloghurst here is going to be resin.

Does the stylistic change presage anything for the future? Is the new series indicative of anything? Together with the new '30' code for HH figures, there are lots of crumbs, but whether they lead to an empty plate or a banquet, who can say?

Just to throw in a personal opinion, this saddens me - Bligh and Stutenchkas and company set out to create a more "historical" game with the design, presentation, models, and model paintjobs to reflect that, and now we've gone the way of 'eavy metal style. Which contrasts incredibly heavy to have such a gear shift. None of the Night Lord stuff matches the earlier Night Lord schemes, same can be said for the Word Bearers.

And what gives with brown base trim now?

Hopefully this "Legion Dispatch" will be regular in the sense of "at least once a month" and not "once every couple months" :laugh.:

I hope so too!

The hopeful person in me says yes but the realistic person says Saturday will just be disappointing

I've mentally prepared myself that the "big" thing will be AoS 3rd edition for them. I'd be surprised if it was Heresy, but history has taught me to temper my excitement and accept that my favorite setting and game system is the red headed step child of the family.

I think that this gonna be something completely different and has nothing to do with 30k.

Maybe orks?

Or a new box game for AoS?

Something like that for sure.

Not for a split second I thought that this could be something for us.

My guess would be a new specialist game or AoS 3.0.

New specialist game could be potentially very very cool. Even though I habe to admit that I havent played a single one of them on a regular basis or at all. But I Love the idea of Titanicus and Necromunda.

Aeronautica is cool. I bought the 2nd expac, but it's still in the wrap. I played a few games of the base launch game, but honestly I want marine or chaos craft. Tiny plastic hellblades and helltalons? Count me in day 1.

What else is left though? From the classics, we need BFG/BFH... and Epic. So maybe it's a separate game to work in tandem with Titanicus? I heard rumors of a Tallarn small scale game...

Do you remember that fake “Battle of Phall” rumour they used to flush out the leaker or put us on a false trail in the run-up to Betrayal at Calth? They should do that now! That would be a great boxed game doubling as Heresy starter. I’m pretty sure the ‘mystery’ will not be this. It’s more likely to be a ‘Trolls in the Pantry’ reboot.
