Ork Updates & New Models - 9th Edition Discussion

Recommended Posts

As a person that ran a gorkanaut and a morkanaut together quite a bit, I am a little bummed out about them moving to LoW. I'm thinking of getting a Killtank so I can run a Super-Heavy Detachment with them. I figure the three LoW, Ghaz, 60 boys, and some grots would be a fun list.

If run as a superheavy detachment they should still get their kuluture, so a gork a mork and a stomach hopefully comes in under 1500 points and get a kultur.

Ramshackle is nice it's on everything smaller than a GoMo, but it's only really gunna affect autocannons, heavy bolters and the such type weapons.

Tankbustas +1 to hit instead of re-rolling against vehicles. Not fond of that...

Fits in with no rerolls though - wreckers becomes +1 to wound instead of re rolls.

The +1 to hit will help offset heavy rokkits.

Also means 10d3 rokkit shots hitting vehicles on 5s with movement or 4s without!!!

They're going to shred vehicles...

Maybe it's not so bad now that they have heavy weapons. that's still 5's to hit against vehicles with what was it D3 shots per rokkit? 10 models could be 30 shots but more like 20.  I'm fine with it I think.  Targeting infantry they aren't "as good" but they can move and be as good as as other Ork shooting. maybe there are strats to boost them?

I'll happily take 9th Ed tankbustas over 8th. 10d3 shots vs 10 for my 10 ork mob. Hitting vehicles on 4s/5s depending on moving or not. Wounding t8 on 3s if using wreckas... Wounding t7 or below on 2s!! (Vehicle depending of course.)

anybody have a positive outlook on the bad moon trait (heavy/dakka +6” range and -1 AP on a 6 to hit with 0 AP weapon) and strat (exploding 6s to hit) to cheer me up?

You'll have tankbustas with 30" range.

Honestly once you see it in action it'll be great. Means your shoota Boyz have 24" range too

The dakka change is strange to me and not what I would have preferred. The way it seems now is the Orks just pull the trigger harder the closer they get. The old way seemed more like a random happening to reflect the magical nature of waaagh and dakka. Not really mad about it just an interesting way to go; looking forward to trying it al out and can’t complain about more shots ultimately lol

Think of it as a group blasting rounds off randomly. The old rule meant you'd occasionally accidentally get hit by other rounds, the new rule just means that they're pointing in the right general direction and as they get closer, more of the errant rounds have a chance to impact.

As 01RTB01 said, you can view the pre-order listing on the NZ site now.

There's also shots of the codex's table of contents, confirming that the Big Mek w/ KFF, a datasheet without a model, still exists.
New decals confirmed (copyright 2021).

I've had mine locked in since early in the week from my old club in CA. In an incredibly fortuitous bout of timing, the box is releasing the same weekend I'll be back there for a wedding!

Mork was watching over me, it seems.

Edit: I needed the vent but I just gotta see the codex in its entirety. I have faith.

I am leaving this part here because this is really bothering me in a vacuum:

So, (hand rubbing forehead) they give us a plastic mega armored warboss, which is what we all wanted forever, and they don’t give us the option to use the most iconic weapon (power klaw) with it?

when I saw that I was pretty shocked as well. Almost every nob or boss in official artwork or box has a klaw.

some stratagems where leaked today one is 2cp breakin heads: a unit within 3 of a nob/warboss can pass a failed morale test then suffers d3 mortal wounds.

This indicates a changes to ork morale rules to me, 2 cp to only be a few boys better off is trash unless you cab fail with mobs of 20+ now.

Yes, I believer Ork mobs LD is their actual LD now and not the number of models in the unit.
