Id forgotten about it til thos article reminded me but the lesser models activating 2 at a time is cool

I think so too. I really like all the attempts at granularity amongst the factions/units/wargear.

Once again though we’re seeing “soon” as time until preorder.

I'm hoping for a Sunday announcement... The "soon" for KT seems sooner than the AoS stuff.

Not long (hopefully!)

It's speculation obviously, but between the various snippets from WHC i'm predicting AoS for the next two weeks and then Kill Team pre-order on 28 Aug for release 4 Sep.

(The closest we've got to solid info on KT is that they said it would be available to pre-order in August. Note pre-order, not released. On the other hand, When Dominion first came out they explicitly said the Stormcast and Orruk battletomes were coming in August, and they both have a lot of kits dropping alongside them)

Actually we must be due another Twitch reveal stream soon because once the AoS stuff and Kill Team are out, there really is not that much left which has been announced but still waiting for release. As far as I can tell it's just 40k Orks, Warzone Octarius and the new Aeronautica box and then that's it?

Mini plastic thunderhawk and templars too.

There's the heresy box as well but that could be this year or next.

I'm pleased for templars players but intrigued as to what codex will be next up.

That said... I think bar orks and templars 40k is done for 2021

There’s no way they don’t try and push some more stuff out at the end of the year during the holiday season. Too much cash to be made.

They don't generally. End of year tends to be Battleforce boxes and scenery bundles. They don't tend to do chunky releases in December.

August:

Kill team

Stormcast/ kruleboyz

September:

More stormcast/ kruleboyz

Orks/ octaruius?

October

Orks/ templars?

November:

30k reboot

These I'd wager on major releases interspersed with specialist games.

I can’t believe they will release Kill Team at the end of this month and then nothing else for it before Christmas? Surely a follow up since there will be 40k crossover, it doesn’t have to settle into the “once a quarter” system like Necromunda yet.

Once the main box is sold they're job done. Supplements may fit in the "smaller" release but the main cash flow will be the box release itself.

We also dont know what kill teams or units marketed as kill teams will be released and when, could be a steady stream of them (or not)

Rumour is a two week pre release like the core games, which also implies we might get another kill team focused live stream on release day, hopefully showing us a bunch of upcoming kill teams (fingers crossed).

Okay the Thunderhawk, but it's hardly a major thing and I did already mention Aeronautica. As for the Templars and the Heresy box, neither of those have been formally announced by GW which is exactly why a reveal stream has to be coming before too long.

Really? The main boxes tend to be better value. Surely the supplements are the cash cows? Think how they milked even terrain sets in the last Kill Team. Think about the waves of cards, Warlands, monsters and books for WarCry. I’ll be surprised if we don’t see a stream of Kill Team stuff.

Im getting to the point of release apathy.  They are having such big lead in times that I'm losing the interest in stuff.  KT for example....the DKoK are the big selling point for me in this box.  While i think the Ork Sculpts are utterly fantastic, I dont want to start an ork army so they arent a big selling point for me personally.  With all the hype and such its getting tiring keeping up, so i find myself cooling off over this release.  Not sure what FOMO fever i will get when its finally released, but if it were now, Im not sure Id be fussed if they sold out before i got to them.

Point of release apathy - this is a good thing for me and my son. Will stop us being distracted by all the new shiny things!

Seriously though, Kill Team is kind of the perfect game for us: small tables, small armies, 40k universe. The previous edition of Kill Team has some interesting features and some annoying ones. The question for me is, will this be a better game, or just different?

GW thinks models sell product, not rules, but that’s not the case for me here. I’ve already got cool models waiting for paint, thanks. I don’t really need a couple kilos of scenery waiting for paint too. Don’t know whether to take the gamble, because “the best edition ever” - well they would say that, wouldn’t they?

GW have said that both of the Kill Teams will be released outside of the boxed set, so you needn't miss out. :) (Obviously, dependent upon pricing, if you only want one side, it's probably best just to wait until the individual release, if you don't mind waiting)

May well be that i do that in fact.  The scenery in the set looks great value, but i dont need more scenery and i think the rule book will suffice for playing kt....not sure about the counters and such, but hoping the previous sets counters will have some use perhaps?

Welp, guess I was wrong. Kill Team is next week's pre-order!

Is this the first time they called this the launch box and not the starter box? Feels like this will sell out right away as separate components will probably be expensive separately

Surprised that they'll actually release the tokens and other stuff separatedly. Seems like GW learned of this issue with the previous KT.

Since I don't wan't Krieg or Orks, this is ideal for me.

Good to see the Kill Team box release finally given a date. Curious that marine and chaos dice will also be available. Maybe those two factions will have kill teams released next?

Also, the codex roadmap on Friday will be interesting. I’m curious what’s planned next for 40K.
