@Mazer Rackham Idle curiosity, but how much did you pay back for Restal's combat shotgun? Reynard might be interested in swapping it for his sawn-off instead and just paying the extra?

Fluff-wise, I like the concealability of the hack, but it's hard to argue with massively improved clip size and the ability to do SABs. Plus I'm guessing its chaos out there, so it's not like anyone is going to make a big fuss over people being obviously armed...

He got a 50 Throne buy-back, so that's the cost. Note that the Combat Shotgun does not have the Reliable Weapon Quality by default.

Fluff-wise, I don't think there's any reason to worry about carrying weapons openly. Most of the people, even in the upper hive, sport some kind of weapon, you won't be arrested for brandishing.

Just mind your encumbrance thresholds, lads.

Ok, cool, Reynard will take that then (if ok, I'll just OOC it that at some point after Restal turns up at the refectory, Reynard nips back down to the armoury and swaps guns and hands over the 50 - rather than holding up proceedings any further)

Not too worried by the lack of Reliable, I'm not Tro after all!

(Just watch the 95+'s roll in now I've said that... )

As to encumbrance, Reynard has now handed in both the autogun + clips and his sawn-off, and taken the combat shotgun in return, so (without properly checking the books) I'm assuming I'm currently good?

As the last of the cash was unspend Falk will grab the Red-dot sight and two clips of manstopper rounds for the autoguns (one of which he'll give to whoever has the other autogun) - on clip each. Total of 72 thrones spent.

There are small maps of each level on the walls every few dozen yards, plus a red line, which contains the word 'Strategium' in stencil every now and again.

You'll find it.

Hello everyone! It has been awhile but I finally have the time to spend time in this amazing part of the forum. After a conversation with Mazer I have put together a character to join in the shenanigans.

I have posted his bio in the character thread and I am working on building his character sheet. I am not very knowledgeable with the game system so any help/ thoughts are appreciated. My character is a former Naval fighter pilot recruited by the Inquisition to pilot the various craft they use in the prosecution of their duty.

i am excited to be back and look forward to more great storytelling from everyone.

Welcome! We look forward to more victims...er...players on the team.

I like the idea of the pilot- have you picked a Career path yet? I'm unsure what the best career would be for him. Guardsman allows for Pilot (Military Craft) at Rank 3, but doesn't really get any other Pilot skills, while the Tech-Priest and Adept paths give more overall "piloty" skills like Drive (Walker/Hovercraft/Ground Vehicle) and Pilot (Civilian Craft) but lack the Military Craft at all (Adept) or until Rank 4 (Tech-Priest).

Maybe work up a custom Career? Take away some of the more combat utility/weapon options for Guardsman and replace them with options like Drive/Pilot/Navigation? It would be up to Mazer, obviously, but that might be the best way to get something close to an Imperial Navy pilot.

Welcome Sobek, great to have you with us!

I agree with Ikka. Much like Beren's Medic, a proper Pilot might be awkward to create from the existing archetypes so could be worthwhile making some stuff up?

Also, am I right in thinking you guys agree that we should explain the whole mission (hunt for Locke, save the Hive from his enemies, find out what happened to Dreyfuss) but not tell him anything about Verdict and his team? (specifically, I mean. Identities and location, etc. Absolom already knows in general that we are working for the Inq)

That is Nicios' position. Whether Falk agrees...?

I will be working up a career path with bits solen from different places, based on the Imperial Guardsman path. It's certainly important that 'Cutter' gets a lot of the drive and pilot skills, as well as access to agility-reliant talents. Tech priest I think is the only one with Pilot (Spacecraft), at Rank 4 so you'll need that. Nerves of Steel, maybe pinch Hotshot Pilot from DH2e. Dos (the moderator) drew up something for the Intelligencer career path. I'll have a look at that as well and see where we go.

At least it isn't Tom Cruise, but in a submarine!

EDIT: BTW, I never did thank you @Lord_Ikka for the extra materials in the googledrive  - very much obliged to you, sir!

Sounds good- will be interesting to see how it works out.

I'll be throwing together a skeleton to work from/on, but am perfectly happy to take advice or have suggestions thrown into the pot.

Falk wouldn't reveal the location and identity of the inquisition assets. The main thing he left ouf from his original report that he would add here would be that it is all linked to the threat against the hive in some way.

Aside from pilot(spacecraft), mashing half of each level from guard and adept classes together probably gets you what you want. I had a look through the DH books and there wasn't much of anything for pilots.

The rogue trader game does have them though (there is a flight marshal class page 81 of the into the storm book) -

Hotshot Pilot (Rogue Trader/Dark Heresy v1)
Prerequisites: Any Pilot Skill, Agility 40
The Explorer can pilot vehicles as if they were extensions of his own body. He may only select this Talent if he has obtained one Pilot Skill as an Advanced Skill. The character treats all other Pilot skills as Basic Skills, and receives a +10 bonus to the Pilot Skills he already possesses.

It's a fairly standard 500xp Talent - great for pilot-type characters as it stacks with the 'talented' ability letting you push all the way up to +40 skill.

Nice, thanks for that A.T,  definitely will mangle that into the career I'm sketching - which is now in the resources folder of the googledrive if anyone wants a peek. Note that it's very much a WIP as I try to piece it all together. Suggestions welcome.

@A.T. - Looks good for a Void Born too.

Just as a matter of course whilst you're spilling the beans, don't forget the silent assassin is in there with you. He's got Unremarkable, but still...

@Machine God just drop your thoughts in when you want mate.

EDIT: There he is!

Busy chopping and changing the career paths up for @Ancient_Sobek. I think what we'll do is have a quick build to Rank 4, then we'll do something more organised. Sobek, could you have a look at the spreadsheet here and make your picks, and dump them on your sheet. I've already gone ahead a put a few things on your sheet to speed this up. Once you've made your choices I'll sort out the build with a few more appropriate talents and skills (I'm picking between the Adept and Guardsman Classes) with a few Elite Advances with the Pilot 'keyword'.
