Just realised I hadn't added you to the first post list either

Silly of me, obvious you've been taking part! Will amend now!

@Rusted Boltgun Those painting armatures you've got there are quite ingenious, and macabre with it.

If you'd put space marine bits on them, I'd have been transported to Horus Rising, and the strange shrike trees with all the impaled Blood Angels.

I, Daylight, vow to complete one Tactical Marine Kill Team of the Marines Errant, to be fully painted and based by the 31st January 2023, and to provide at least minimal fluff/background for them. May the Emperor curse me to darkness and ruination should I fail!

As a side note, I still have not been able to locate any leadbelcher spray at local stores so I finally gave in and ordered some. I’ll be on serious crunch time once it arrives, but six models should be doable (I hope!)

You can do it!

Looking forward to seeing them!

In general, I would like to cheer on everyone still fiercely painting away.

Finished the Inquisition Stormtrooper / Kasrkin Kill Team today.

I tried to challenge myself using only a limited dark and brooding color scheme, which fits nicely with the dark purpose of His Holy Inquisition.

And I LOVED doing these guys .

(but the reason might also be that I was listening to an exciting audio book and totally forgot the time, so I got much more painting done than originally planned for this weekend)

Sergeant Mafessa, loyal guard veteran and his men, specifically selected veterans from different regiments all over the quadrant, assembled by the Inquisition for a secret, still unknown mission

Heavy boots sound outside the private chambers of Inquisitor (REDACTED) onboard the fast black Inquisition Strike Cruiser (REDACTED).

The Inquisitor turns around from the window, where he had been standing for more than half an hour, looking out to the massive Space Hulk looming in the black void.

Ten men in dark uniforms enter the chamber, all of them wearing helmets, from which only the blue eye lenses glow in a sinister blue light.

"Sergeant Mafessa", the Inquistor says, "the day you have prepared for has arrived. Our Navy Breachers under the indomitable Mira Holden have established a beachhead onboard this damned pile of warp-junk. She reports some infestation with some vile traitors and some vicious aliens, but so far, they have kept to the shadows and stayed away from all-out conflict."

- "Mira has always been devious, and the shadows are her natural habitat. I do not doubt she is skilled in laying an ambush and running away before things heat up. But she does not have the heart for a real battle or a less subtle assault."

- "Do not underestimate her. Others have done that, and they did not even have the time to regret it."

- "But we are not fancy dressed toy-soldiers of some backwater agriworld baron. We are specially trained veterans, especially selected and "taken away" by you and your cabal, to root out whatever heresy and alien conspiracy is cooked up in the bowels of that....., what did you call it, "damned pile of warp-junk". I will watch my back when Mira is around, and none of my men trusts her, or her Marauder rabble, further than we can throw a grenade. She is useful as a smoke-screen, nothing less."

The Inquisitor says nothing, just looks at his Sergeant, who he indeed has spirited away from his true unit during a cease-fire on a distant, war-torn world. The Inquisitor cannot even remember which one it was. It had taken months to get his team together, routing through battle reports from various Guard regiments, finding veterans who match the specific skill-set he was looking for.

And now he has assembled this team. His very own strike force of veterans.

They are trained for a specific purpose, all the while, they also bring vast experience in fighting vile aliens, filthy heretics and despicable traitors. There were reports than on board of this Space-hulk, there was his price. The key to his life goal. Never mind Mira. The sergeant is right, she and her Marauders are just useful rabble. Loyal to the throne, yes, overzealous, perhaps, but they know nothing of the true objective. They are dispensable.

As are, the Inquisitor muses, the men of the sergeant standing in front of him.

He has no bond to these faceless tools he has assembled.

He will use them as he sees fit, but he also will not worry if some of them get damaged or lost in the process.

"Sergeant, assemble your men. You will leave in the hour. The sooner we make our move, the better are our chances to catch the enemy by surprise."

The sergeant salutes, and turns to leave.

The inquisitor calls after him: " And remember, when you go in, keep com-silence. Mira will undoubtedly monitor our communications and I would like to keep her in the dark for as long as possible. Your vox-trooper will have to leave his equipment here, on my orders. Let's keep Mira in the dark as long as possible."

The sergeant nods and say nothing.

The inquisitor dismisses him: "And remember. The Emperor protects."

I also managed to start the Necron Deathmarks today- I think I might even get my "half" extra vow for this challenge in after all!

They will also only receive a limited color scheme- fitting my Necrons army which I styled after the Doctor Who Cybermen, using only silver and blue.

The day has come for my journeys to complete :)
The Sniper I have actually completed right after New Year. The Sergeant was finished yesterday with decent pictures taken couple hours ago

Calm, composed in any situation, Afrallo is treated as a 'lucky charm' among his brothers. There are some among the chapter that suspect Afrallo has some of his gene-father's prescient vision. Chapter Librarians had probed him for latent psychic abilities on numerous occasions and found nothing. Still Afrallo has a history of narrowly avoiding harm by.... luck? Emperor's divine protection? Prescience? No one can tell and Afrallo always keeps to himself on such occasions with eyes glazed with a touch of melancholia.

5th Company 2nd Squad Sergeant Ethel is old. He was already a full battle-brother during First War for Armageddon and witnessed some of the worst nightmares that the galaxy and warp can spawn. Pragmatic to the bone he has a great ability to use any tools or means at his disposal to the utmost effect. His will is truly indomitable and showed yet again when he successfully crossed the Rubicon Primaris. He managed to survive both the procedure as well as the fading of the false hope of being cured from the Curse.

Varnish and base rim to be applied to the Kinband. And I'm sure I'll find even more details that I've missed!

Kindband complete! I give up on hidden posts, time to complete my pledge.

552523AF-1CE9-49C5-9E56-8A73D244E533.jpg

This Kinband are mercenaries who have been traversing the galaxy, picking up bounties and assignments as they can. They have been bodyguards, recon scouts, frighteners and smugglers amongst other things.

Fifty standard years ago, they were hired by a Rogue Trader to track down and retrieve an Imperial archeotech artifact. What the RT didn’t tell them was that the artifact was in the hands / paws of a particularly vicious band of Ork Kommandos.

A series of skirmishes ensued as the Kinband tracked the Orks across the galaxy, picking them off one-by-one. Each Ork was consumed, feeding the Kroot understanding of their adversaries, the locations of their haunts, their strengths and weaknesses. Eventually the depleted Orks dumped the tech and escaped into the void.

The Kinband were able to retrieve and then deliver the article (what it was, they never knew) back to the RT.

Unfortunately for the Kinband, the RT was in a less than trustful mood. A meeting was arranged on a near deserted planet, Aek II. Well, deserted of humanoid life at least. The planet spent most of its ‘day’ in the dark. It was almost permanently night and cold as far as the humans were concerned. That had its advantages for the RT.

The handover went without a hitch but when they got back to their ship, the Kroot found that it had been disabled by agents of the RT and they were stuck on the planet with no obvious escape route.

The Kinband set their distress beacon and hunkered down for what could be a long wait. Food was scarce, what little meat they could scavenge was found on local rodents that scurried around in the dark. The vermin were unusual, devoid of pigment but with preternatural hearing – not easy for the Kroot to sneak up on them, traps were the only successful method of catching the Kroot some dinner.

Eventually, a Tau excursion force picked up the call and rescued the Kinband, providing them the tools to fix their craft and enabling them to get back into the stars. The enforced stay had a marked effect on the Kinband – a steady diet of the Aekian vermin had left them pale, without the colouring normally associated with their kind.

Free to look for new paymasters, the Kinband never forgot being hung out to dry by the Imperial, adding the Elucidian Starstriders to a lengthening list of adversaries marked up as Do Not Use / Do Not Trust.

“The As’ Quatorii ?!

large.8771E6BC-DCA6-472C-BD7D-EF3390D64BF3.jpeg.bc2a86c040d54f422ee15b105931f4e9.jpeg

What?! Them’s all mad, ye know?

Apparently it’s a word from the tongues of those wretches that made their lair  in Revj’ Azul? Ye know, the “blue haven” of the Somnium Stars? Way deep down the Lucdious Straits? Anyways. So it’s  supposed to mean that them are “liberators” or liberating or liberated depending on how you say it but it’s  closer to  “unleashed” or what ever.. Unleashed! Hah! Unhinged!! That’s more like it!

Of course they’re with the Hedonistarii, so ye’d expect them to be all edgy and hyped up and always up for for pushing something sharp  into the soft underbelly of  something, someone…anyone, really.

See, them’s  been  unleashing  folks from the burden of their fleshy shells and liberating precious stuff from oppressive void holds from way  up north from the Ghoul Stars all the way  down beyond even the Five Hundred Worlds for ages. Those blue skinned freaks of the T’au have a curse named after them, I sear, but I’d have to cut my nose off to pronounce it probably…

As’ Quatorii’ have flown the flags of the Eyries of Drathoni as well as those of the Serpent Princes from the Mercurial or even those blackguards of the Razlivanova. Even Huron’s lot. Or raised arms against them. Not the most patient lot, them, I hear.

I hear that’s  why they runs from that possessed cruiser hull, you know… the Asa..something? The Asagao?! So they can hunt in her depths when they’re  all bored  or when there’s nothing entertaining enough around and all the while their damned ship hunts for prey on it’s own? Nothing gets them going like a new prize on the horizon and some fresh bodies to test their blades against…

Shouldn’t be surprised then that they’re  also said to do this on void hulks ‘parently.

Ye heard that one right - yes, they’re  raiding bloody hulks for sports! For bragging rights. Because them think it’s fun! “Hulk diving”, I’ve been told  they call it. “Entertainment”, they call it!

Now, ye ever heard of the “GallowDark”? That’s the one! … ‘course you have! Bloody legend of the depths, that one! A prize of that size, it’s no wonder there’s ‘posed to be some of them As’ Quatorii looking for it.

Not to mention that there is word that the bloody Lord of the Black himself has taken an interest in something hidden on that hulk…

So, yes. They’re totally mad! The whole lot of them!

And don’t get me started ‘bout the bloody singing! ….”

Amazing work mate, both on the minis and all the fluff. Brilliant theme all through. This is a great day indeed.

Space :pirate: Yarr! (All the way up to 11).

Finally received my leadbelcher and started priming the Marines. Using the Space Marine heroes models and going to try to paint them on the sprue, which I’ve never done before. I’ve also never used contrast paints before, so this will be an adventure. As an aside, going back through this thread is seriously inspirational; all of your kill teams are amazing.

Thanks! Takes ages but I think it’s worth the effort in the end.   I am tempted to expand them into a proper boarding force - Terminators, Possesed or such, maybe a Hellbrute…

But maybe I’ll do one of the big McFarlane marines first while I am still in the flow and use that for the Index Traitoris I am building alongside the fluff… I can’t see e getting that colour scheme into the Armour painting app

Malrak Kaius, chosen to wield the daemon blade Kraavax, and his team are on the hulk Gallowspire on orders from Blackheart. None know what those orders are but Malrak himself, though there are rumors that they have been sent to hunt down something or someone. With him are Antek Urlagrim bearer of the Balefire Tome, Sko'Tar Khagore the executioner, Dar'Lath Svorath the blade master, Beadhal Talodire the reaper and Sorahgen Drachorz bringer of the flame. They will succeed in their mission, as failure will only bring about their doom.

Replaced duplicate pictures with correct ones

Unfortunate update: when I started painting today, I realized the primer had not applied correctly. It kind of gunked up, being thicker in some spots than others. I'm not sure if I didn't shake the can enough, or if it was the cold temperatures here, but I think I'm going to have to use simple green to strip them and start over. On the plus side, the blue on the model I started painting came out exactly as I hoped it would.

If worst comes to worst and I can't get the paint stripped in time, am I able to modify my vow and paint up some other models (I have some Mk VI heresy marines) as an intercession kill team or something similar?
