Once I'd decided on a paint scheme- camouflage made up of the two least used spraycans I had, who could guess?- it was pretty nice and quick. It was fun remembering about weathering techniques, and then bollocksing them up and going back over them. Eventually I got a result I was happy with. I'm pretty happy with how the vehicle paint scheme sits alongside the infantry too- it never looks right when vehicles are the exact same colour as clothing to me. commissar_roach Posted January 17, 2023 Share Posted January 17, 2023 wow, forgot to update this for a while. I've gotten the 20 guardsmen painted, they just need their bases done. I was a bit surprised with how fast I can knock these out with speedpaints, but hey I wont complain. Bit of a fun thing I settled on for this force, I liked the idea of the squad Vox casters being themed with the rest of the army. Thankfully i was able to find some bugler arms from Victoria miniatures. I'm also planning on the master Vox in the command squad being a drummer. Is it a bit cheesy? yes, but I'm having fun with it anyways. As for the rest of the force I've got most of the command squad finished (but I forgot to take pictures), and I'm well on my well to getting the rough riders painted up. They are about 40% finished as I type this but I've only got a pic of them built right now. I'm not sure how I'll paint up the horses, I'd like to keep using the speedpaints but I don't know if that will work as well on the mounts. You may notice one of those riders is not like the others, that's because originally I ordered the rough rider set from Victoria Miniatures. when I got the order it turned out that all but one set of the rider bits were horribly miscast. I was lucky that I already had a backup ready from when I was picking out what bits I was going to use. Mad Robot Miniatures came through with a really nice set of rider bits that work perfectly. they even came with the brass rods for the lances. Will I be able to finish my whole pledge before the deadline? Slave to Darkness Posted January 20, 2023 Share Posted January 20, 2023 My silver has dried up and Im down to a dribble of Steel Legion drab, I dont think Im gonna be able to finish, I dont get cash next till after the comp ends. At least I have more units basecoated than I did last week so still a minor victory in my eyes. Everybody else's stuff is looking great though. Good job guys.
