I wrote bolter porn and got my rejection today, too. Damn your riddles, Black Library - what do you want from me?!

E: And where I normally post my garbage is currently participating in activism, damn it all. My words must be free! I need the validation!

Oh well. Where are we posting these, anyway? This thread? Down in the fan works section? I need the sympathy of my fraters in these troubled times.

I regret to inform you that you have been scheduled to be put in the cannon.

On topic - I think you could probably post them in the Fanfic Section.

Just as a note, anyone who sends their stuff to us at the Cabal can post it wherever they like, the Cabal Submissions Box is to help with feedback and for inclusion into our proposed anthology.

We appreciate all submissions.

Well add me to the list who didn't put enough "Bolter" in my Bolter Porn.

Probably not enough 'wolf', Barak. I can see a clear opportunity for a third one in there, and you know how the rule of three works.

No, I think it is the Allfather punishing me. Since they ruled out the Parent Chapters, I gave into temptation (I recognize my failing and will be sure to correct it), and submitted a story about Dorn's sons, the Black Templars.  I should have known better, I could hear the Lord of Winter and War growling in my ear when I wrote it, not to mention when I submitted it.

This is simply my punishment for betraying my Brothers in the Rout. I have disgraced the Aett.  I shall petition the Great Wolf to allow me to join the Wolf Scouts in penance.

Did everyone get their emails at (approx) the same time yesterday?

I've not had any response yet. In theory that could be good news?

...but I worry that I was actually part of another group whose subs were so bad that they didn't even get sent the 'reply-to-all'... :ermm::laugh:

If it makes you guys feel better, it’s very possible that the contracts are given on what is effectively an invite basis, and that the submission process is perfunctory to create an illusion of free application for some obscure reason of law of corporate policy.

I know someone pretty high up in university admin, and at least in academia, a lot of things that they take “submissions” for have a predetermined result, and they just go through the motions.

While I agree this sort of thing happens in general, I'm not so sure about the BL Subs process. @Denny said he had gone all the way through from start to finish, I assume he didn't already have contact with the BL team?

Yeah, I'm doubtful in this case as I reckon they could have gotten by without doing an open submission. After all, a lot of traditional publishers don't do open submissions, relying on agents to pitch work at them.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here, a far simpler explanation is mine was just absolute rubbish

That’s correct. I had no prior contact with GW or BL and had no previous published work. And I know I’m not unique in this from speaking to other BL authors.

I also got rejected the first time I applied. It sucks… but don’t give up! Dealing with rejection is sadly part of the job. And I still get stuff rejected now…;)
