I know someone pretty high up in university admin, and at least in academia, a lot of things that they take “submissions” for have a predetermined result, and they just go through the motions. After all, a lot of traditional publishers don't do open submissions, relying on agents to pitch work at them. That’s correct. I had no prior contact with GW or BL and had no previous published work. And I know I’m not unique in this from speaking to other BL authors. I also got rejected the first time I applied. It sucks… but don’t give up! Dealing with rejection is sadly part of the job.
