New Firstborn Terminators [Rumour]

Won't they just be primaris, but in the style of old terminators:ermm:

That seems the most logical answer:yes:

Has there been a single firstborn release since the start of 8th?

If so, that's almost two editions and 6 ish years:ermm:

They will be Space Marine Terminators. Whispers from the Warp are starting to hint that the distinction between "Firstborn" and Primaris is going away in 10th Edition.

And that could not come soon enough.

Absolutely untrue and purely speculative.

Valrak's stock is very high at the moment. His sources have been pretty much on the money for a lot of recent releases. If he says the Primaris/FB distinction is being shunted into the lore then I am inclined to believe it.

If you do not, what is the source of your scepticism? Do you have a different source telling you otherwise?

If they are in the style of the old terminators, then they wouldn’t really be Primaris, even if given the keyword option.  Like the BT Castellan model.  The distinction between Primaris and firstborn disappears if they produce updates of classic kits that where the look doesn’t change and say oh yeah sure they can be Primaris.

There have been quite a few firstborn model releases since June 2017.

Valrak is more of a 40K enthusiast rather than a gamer. Caveat emptor. And a rumor is still just speculation.

"There have been quite a few firstborn model releases since June 2017."

Name at least three not including Series 2.

I understand the difference. But i know he knows the game and since he is enthusiastic about the 40k universe he still knows the game to.

Plus he has been dead on again and again for a long time now.

But you do you. If you have a source telling you differently its just fine. Just dont bash a guy for no reason. He has a track record for being right.

So there aren't actually any conflicting rumours then?

The Firstborn Terminators, or perhaps with the rumours of no distinction between Marine types now, the new Space Marine Terminators, could herald a new wave of Terminators from GW - Chaos of all types (likely World Eaters would get a new unit too) and Grey Knights.

And they'll sell of course. Is that a test for revamps of older kits? Will it be dual 40K and 30K?

So many questions. The latter really factors in for me though. Any 40K Firstborn will likely coincide with 30K surely. Sooner or later they'll be MK7 in the Heresy right so it stands to reason these Terminators would be a dual 30K and 40K kit? Or when the Heresy is exhausted they would expand to the Scouring for additional factions/Xenos potentially so would GW really want to create 2 Firstborn Terminator kits out of the same concept?

Precedent of this is the MK4 Tactical Squad in this regard.

Space Marine hero’s series 1 tactical squad + captain - doesn’t count not produced by GW

Space Marine heroes series 2 terminator squad + captain + standard bearer - see above

Casan Sabius and Sirae Karagon - Forgeworld, doesn’t count

Carab Culln the Risen - Forgeworld, doesn’t count

2nd resin version of the Thunderhawk - it’s not a Space Marine, doesn’t count

2nd resin versions of Land Raider and Rhino doors - see above

Lexicunum Varus terminator librarian model - okay

Chaplain Tarentus terminator chaplain model okay

Black Templars Castellan - GW stated it’s a Primaris Space

Castellan Crowe - technically Grey Knights aren’t Space Marines

multiple 30k releases that are also 40k models - none are Space Marines

So that’s only two… FAIL

“So there aren't actually any conflicting rumours then?"

Yes there are. :wallbash:

Just for my peace of mind, what have I been wrong about? I never seem to know

You went yellow instead of a lovely Maccragian blue!

Any more snippets likely on the Terminators issue? New weapons or impact on Chaos Terminators?
