So I’ve returned from Papua New Guinea and after 128km of hiking, two fractured ribs and some rest and recouping I’ve made a fair bit of progress.

the next addition to the campaign 1000 points of Death Guard (this was to break up the monotony of painting terrain).

and some pics from the other members of the campaign; we’ve got a good core team of people building and representing the wider forces of the imperium and other legions.

The guys have been getting some games in whilst I was away, but now with the announcement of 3rd all my hard work on the player pack for next month is pretty much dead in the water.

So we have to wait and see what’s in the Libers and the Core rules before anything else happens.

till next time!

So as I await the bits and pieces for the Blackshields project;

I thought I’d start painting through my 30k dark angels back log;

I’ve been working on a herald, which is slowly coming together.

now on the to do list currently is the following;

• 120 infantry

• 1 rhino

• 2 rhinos with Ikarus pattern upgrade kits

• 3 predators with ikarus pattern upgrade kits

• 1 land raider

• 15 jetbikes

• 1 land raider Achilles

• 3 spartans

• 30 terminators

So This project is still going strong, I’ll be getting some full army shots at the HGH - Kingslayer event in July so we can finally show off my vision as to date.

That banner is amazing, is that all paint or transfer, if you don't mind me asking?

stage one was painting in the checkers and tidying them up.

then I took the Forge World Dark angels small transfer and positioned it.

then I layered other decals from various sheets to get the effect I was after, following that add details, washes and seal.

So I have 11 days till the Heaps Good Heresy event;

so I’ve been working on getting even more units finished in time, this way I can figure out the best way to have a balanced 2500k list.

The command squad is finally coming together!

im looking forward to being done with a fair chunk of my backlog and depleting my pile of shame in the process.

next post should be from the 2 day narrative event.

So a I compile more from the event I have a few thoughts about how I progress after the 3.0 leaks;

Once again I find the community divided and complaining for both extremes which is really mentally taxing.

the reality is the majority of my collection has been made redundant at this time, I have bout 5000 points of various stages of completion dark angels units that no longer have rules or wargear is now unavailable. My blackshields project is shelved and my Death Guard have luckily been spared the rod.

moving forward I’m planning on finishing my army and placing it in the display case for the foreseeable future, I’ve always been a hobbyist first and foremost over a gamer.

so outside of the final showcase I will consider this project finalised.

I may expand my death guard to fit the 3.0 format and try to develop a thread for it in the future, but currently my motivation is dead in the water. I might try LI after having a few games over the weekend I find it can probably capture the immersion and narrative style gaming I enjoy over the constant in fighting of the warhammer community.

Ive stated this in my personal circles so I might as well state it here;

the relationship between consumer and corporation is abusive and toxic, you’d never allow either behaviour in real life so why do we allow ourselves to react the way we do and keep supporting a company that is dismissive of it’s community.

the behaviours continue to polarise because no one in the room is being an adult, under any other circumstance no one would approve of this kind of nonsense yet we as a community justify the shilling and the :cuss:ting on GW.

i think people have a right to be frustrated especially after the Warcom disconnect between what has happened to what was communicated, I don’t attribute this to malice, I attribute this to incompetence on a larger scale for a company attempting to make itself a bigger competitor in a market it has already saturated.

I hope people can heal one day but whilst we continue the abusive cycle nothing will change, so I’m removing myself finishing this army, shelving future projects and getting my death guard finished (probably by the time 4th roles around)

That's frustrating. :sad:

As you already have the models, would you still enjoy engaging in the hobby side of things (i.e. assembling and painting)? I'm just thinking that either painting models or having a completed army on display (even if it's not "rules valid") is something that can bring enjoyment. Alternatively, is there an alternative ruleset you could use so you could still use your models? Apologies if that's not helpful - just trying to find ways you can enjoy your existing models. :smile:

Just run the campaign at HH v2, everybody probably has their stuff geard towards v2 at the moment anyway.

No use in throwing away your preparations, expectations and pre campaign enthousiasm due to a changing ruleset.

You already have all the relevant rulebooks i'm assuming. So go for it.

But I'm totally in your camp regarding rules, I've started in 3 ed, and just been painting my models for the last 3 editions of 40K and just when I feel comfortable with the rules to venture out and play they change them..

Even with the PDF legacies announcement my passion to play is ultimately going to be the hardest to recover;

I plan on painting as always there’s something about the display cases getting filled out that makes me feel accomplished.

biggest issue will be seeing how many people drop out locally, the event introduced me to more locals that I personally enjoy gaming with and I’ll probably just follow suit as to where the community flow through to.

Sorry you've been hit so hard by the new edition. Your DA are a huge inspiration, though.

 Appreciate it bud, even with some units coming back I still struggle with accepting the stupidity of the online aspect of the hobby, just want everyone to return to seperating their hobby from the perception of the parent company.
