Mendi Warrior
Seems we are in sync Long hobby slump too, recently reignited the appetite to build models. For Legions Imperialis, I have finally completed my two Dire Wolf heavy scout titans, using magnets, I made a short tutorial with pictures, see link below, and I have also plunged back into building my two Warmaster titans, tackling the built of the shoulder weapons with magnets to have full flexibility. I'll write a short tutorial too, soon-ish. Still have plenty on my pile of shame opportunities too. And, like you, this thread keeps inspiring me too, thanks to everyone! Sherrypie
Ran an ongoing E:A demo table at a local youth convention with a friend, Minervans vs Night Lords (using Space Wolf rules). We kept the game rolling for something like ten rounds and threw in more reserve formations from random table edges when previous ones died off or players changed. Overall Guard dominance, as the lighter Astartes elements struggled to hurt the heavier engines. Pacific81
Some photos from Bac-Con 2026 at the end of April. We ran an Epic Armageddon alongside a Legions Imperialis tournament, had a very good turnout, dice rolled and many 6/8mm miniatures destroyed. Most importantly, we managed to raise £850 for the Brain Tumour Charity in memory of Paul Sawyer. Sherrypie
Should have faced Dark Mech today, but as my opponent misplaced their minis in transit, we ended up playing a little 2k NetEA GT exercise between my guardsmen instead. Gracious complimenting of each other's ability to hit a lot of trees was had. I really enjoyed playing on this table. Sherrypie
Meanwhile, WIPs for a change. First session on the next mechanised company, base colours down before edges, lights, damages, pigments and the rest. Sherrypie
Another battle report for a change! ------------- Epic: Armageddon, 4k NetEA lists, Imperial Fists vs. Minervan tank legion. Fanatic magazine, 'Siegeline' scenario. ------------- SETUP AND OBJECTIVES: Achtung, Panzer! The armoured might of Selen II's PDF is about to crash into a well-prepared line held by the Imperial Fists, with one half of the table holding six objectives behind a wide double-layered trench as well as some minefields and fortifications. The attacking force must constantly gain and hold more objectives round after round or their assault stalls (2+ on the third turn, 3+ on the fourth and so on just to keep the game going, with a sudden victory available should they manage to snatch 4+ of them early on). The defenders have deployed their garrisonable footsluggers and field guns on the lines, rest of their forces waking to the summons as the turns go by. The Guard line emerges from the polluted snowfields as the Fists jump to man their positions. ------------- ROUND 1: The iron curtain of tanks roars forwards at the double as the massed artillery bombardments begin pounding the defenders. As luck would have it, the defender's supreme command bunker gets hit in the first salvo, leaving the marines bereft of their leadership from the word go. Fists' aircraft attempt a first response into the attacking lines, but get shot down by the evenly spread Hydra cover. The first lines of defenders hunker down as the advancing superheavies hammer their positions. ROUND 2: The attackers reach the trenches, though empty as they are they might as well be called anti-tank ditches at this point. The Fists have elected to stay back in the supply depot rather than rush forth to get pummeled even more. On the right flank, the SHT coys obliterate the tacticals holding the databanks. Russes advance on the left, attempting to take the safe crossing over the trenches only to find them heavily mined as newly arrived Speeders swoop in to harass them. A well-placed beam of death from a lurking Shadowsword destroys the IF Bastion, opening the way further for the Russes. Valkyries stride in deep into the opposing lines as Chimeras disgorge infantry into the trenches. ROUND 3: Defenders endure withering artillery barrages but manage to break the Demolishers stuck in the minefield. Newly arrived Predators rake the Stormtroopers, ultimately causing them to falter and fail to move forwards to take the day here and now. Despite losing some of their number to the steep pits, the 1st Russ company charges forwards to wipe the Speeders off. The crossing has begun in force. With the Stormtroopers pinned in place, the attackers have failed to attain a quick victory and the game grinds on. SHTs trundle heedlessly over the trenches, blasting away as the defenders' slowly attrit down towards a breaking point. ROUND 4: All is not yet lost, however, as the elite terminator brothers flash down on the left flank with a crack of arcing energy. Their first attack on the 1st Russes bounces off the thick steel plates, but with the second group charging into the exhausts ports of the surprised tankers the flank is again momentarily secured. The Shadowsword at the back fails to recognise the danger and do anything about it, leaving the objective to slip back to the defenders' hands. With mounting pressure from orders above, the Selenites launch drives towards the faltering core of the Fists' lines. Secure in their impressively durable bunkers even as SHTs keep hammering at them with all the guns, the last remnants of Devastators and Tacticals still clinging onto their positions refuse to shift. Desperate for a decisive result, the Stormtroopers launch a hail mary assault at the last three Devastators with only their Valkyries able to get in range. Even more embarrassingly, the Valkyries fail to kill anyone, lose 3/4 of their own numbers including the only bird in objective control range, yet still manage to win as the supporting fire from the nearby Baneblades wipes the entrenched foes to the last :D With the terminators taking their flank and the Stormtroopers failing once again to drive the final nail home, the battle continues. ROUND 5: However, as the defenders fail to rally basically anything beyond the now quite badly positioned terminators, the defenders see fit to cut their losses and retreat. The armoured thrust has plunged too deep and achieved a breakthrough, whether the last remaining stragglers give up their lives in vain or not. -------------- RESULT: Guard victory! Turns 3 and 4 went down to the last rolls and critically failed orders, with the Stormtroopers in particular unable to move when called on to try and win the mission. Playing the long way on the table is great, as the attacker is basically constantly one turn shy of being able to take any conservative moves without risking the clock running out on them, while simultaneously offering enough range for artillery to do its work properly. Here the defenders were found wanting in that department, as their Thudd guns and midrange support tools could not duel with the batteries at the back and many, many casualties were incurred as the result of unrelenting salvos raining from far away (including the SupCom at the very beginning :D ). The fortifications were very funny, I like them. The doubled line in the middle of the board caused no small amount of concern for my smaller tanks, especially when the defenders plopped a 30 cm diameter minefield on the one safe route in, which kept the broken Demolishers occupied for the second half of the game :P Though the Fists were heavily outgunned, they put up a very dogged resistance especially where they had their own bunkers that grant infantry Reinforced Armour. Those things are tough to crack! A rather fun game, this. I have a personal love of all things sieges, so scenarios like these are always neat to throw down. Sherrypie
Another mechanised company's worth added to the tank fleet today. Tried out AP's matt varnish from a rattlecan compared to my usual brush-applied Vallejo stuff and holy moly did it ever eat away some of the look. The NMM on the steel bits and fluo paints on the lights took the most heat from it, losing a lot of their contrast and brightness. Got to remember that going forwards.
