Man... Can't GW for once just not stack all the releases I want within a 3 month timeframe?

That's why I'm happy with 2 week pre-order window, i do hope it would ease up on them (and on my wallet).

Based on Matrindur excellent notes for the SM box on the first page, assuming the same €180 price, the SM box is actually a worse deal as the release price for the jump pack marines is €45 not the Heavy Intercessor matching €55.

Insert Lando 'deal is getting worse all the time' gif...

Quick update on the Space Marine box as the JP Intercessors turned out cheaper than I expected:

Space Marines:

  • Jump Pack Captain                            32.5€
  • 15x Jump Pack Intercessors          3x 45€
  • Invader-ATV                                      40€
  • Outriders                                           50€

Total: 257.5€ -> 31% discount

31% seems a little low compared to the other boxes, adding a second ATV would increases the discount to 40% which is possible as Tyranids are also 40% but I think its likelier they will do different price points for the boxes with the SM one being 170€ instead of 180€. That way it would be 34% which seems pretty good. In the same way Tyranids could turn out to be 190€ instead which decreases the discount to 37% or it could only include 2x Hormagaunts and be another 170€ box for 31% off.

At this point those changes just aren't big enough to really predict what is true so we can only wait until GW shows them off for real. Will do another round of discount calculations then.

There's a balance to be had between discount and points value contained as well. Discount is only part of the story.

So now when do we get announcement and release dates?  Gonna have to figure out a way to guarantee this purchase. Ideally at 15% off.

Normally announced in November for December purchases

I specifically held off buying the Jump Intercessors and Captain when they released in case this rumour panned out, and now that it looks like it has... I'm still not sure I'll go for it! The Outriders and ATV will probably just sap too much value from it for me; yes I know they're effectively free, but I don't really need them so it's a "waste" of savings, if that makes any sense.

The Guard and Votann ones are 100% kits that I would want and use so I think they're probably higher up the pecking order, but I'm also waiting to see what the Sigmar ones look like (if anybody has any solid info I'd appreciate a PM!)

I would have applauded the reprint of the Iron Hands battleforce. Alas no such luck. Maybe in 2024.

I dont think theyve ever reprinted this kind of one off box before? I certainly wouldnt expect it.

I'm hoping the prospect of 9 outriders and an ATV is juicy enough for someone to buy mine from me off Ebay :P

Since they've done army boxes/ battleforces around 1993 ish they have never reprinted any.

However, there are copies of the iron hands battleforce still knocking around in Canada if needed.

Probably just me, but I have no desire to add any ATV's/Outriders to my marines.

I really would have preferred a 're-do' of the chapter specific battleforce boxes they did a while ago. Those were cool, and came with upgrade frames which I find a pain to locate sometimes.

I just noticed all three Assault Intercessor Sergeants in the image have the exact same pose and load out and paint job... Do they not actually set up the models for photography anymore? is it really  a crtlC+ctrlV job? That's lame if so.

Battleforce discount calculations: (Prices assumed for a ~35% discount as that is about what we got last year)

Space Marines
1x Captain with Jump Pack - £25 - 32,5€ - $40
3x Jump Pack Intercessors - £105 - 135€ - $180
1x Primaris Invader ATV - £30 - 40€ - $50
1x Outriders - £37,5 - 50€ - $60

Total: £207,5 - 257,5€ - $330 -> Assumed prices: £135 - 170€ - $215

Tyranids:
1x Norn Assimilator - £70 - 90€ - $115
1x Hive Tyrant - £37,5 - 50€ - $60
1x Genestealers - £32,5 - 42,5€ - $55
2x Hormagaunts - £60 - €80 - $100

Total: £200 - 262,5€ - $330 -> Assumed prices: £130 - 170€ - $215

World Eaters:
1x Angron - £100 - 130€ - $170
1x Khorne Berzerkers - £40 - 55€ - $65
2x Exalted Eightbound - £75 - 100€ - $120

Total: £215 - 285€ - $355 -> Assumed prices: £140 - 185€ - $230

Leagues of Votann:
1x Grimnyr - £27,5 - 35€ - $45
1x Einhyr Champion - £25 - 32,5€ - $40
2x Einhyr Hearthguard - £75 - 100€ - $120
1x Sagitaur - £40 - 55€ - $65
1x Hekaton Land Fortress - £70 - 90€ - $115

Total: £237,5 - 312,5€ - $385 -> Assumed prices: £155 - 205€ - $250

Astra Militarum:
1x Cadian Command Squad - £27,5 - 35€ - $45
2x Cadian Shock Troops - £60 - 80€ - $100
2x Rogal Dorn Battle Tank - £120 - 160€ - $200

Total: £207,5 - 275€ - $345 -> Assumed prices: £135 - 180€ - $225

Orks:
1x Beastboss on Squigosaur - £35 - 45€ - $60
1x Ork Beast Snagga Boyz - £35 - 45€ - $60
1x Squighog Boyz - £40 - 55€ - $65
1x Painboss - £25 - 32,5€ - $40
1x Kill Rig - £85 - 110€ - $140

Total: £220 - 287,5€ - $365 -> Assumed prices: £145 - 185€ - $240

Again the prices are only assumed so the discount is close to 35% as that is the average we got last year. But that is just an average and there were boxes with higher and lower discounts so the actual prices this year will be different. This is just an estimate

The two sets of Hearthguard are also identical, definitely a Photoshop job.

It's probably just because 'Eavy Metal only paint so many for the box art.
