Should be back on track now. As for approaching the planet, I don't think we can disguise being a Salamanders ship, but having an Iron Warrior aboard sounds very useful for communicating with the denizens. Claiming to be a combined force with no knowlege of the war is a gambit I like. Unless, of course, we can modify our ident signature? Wouldn't pass a visual-range inspection, but the tech-inclined individuals aboard might be able to do it. By the way, can I do anything to patch up my armour with the time and resources available? flooding sucks what do you mean by patch up? Urauloth
Thanks guys. Yep, everything's drying out ok! @Black Cohort Well, if I recall correctly it's not environmentally sealed. Lysimachus
Elvrit has Int40 and Tech-Use +10 for a target of 50 (30 once you include the -20). I don't know how good Ekene is at Tech-Use, if he's got a better target, Elvrit could at least provide an Assist? Actually, if Elvrit is better, maybe Ekene could provide the Assist, which would give Elvrit a final target of 40. Still not amazing, but if people want I could roll a few tests and see how many armour sets we can get patched up? Edit: @Black Cohort I don't suppose Elvrit's efforts to assist the Tribute's repair crews earned him access to a Combi-tool, did they? Lysimachus
Just looked back through at the posts with Stat Rolls and XP Spends - if Elvrit doesn't get the Combi-tool, then Ekene's target number with an Assist from Elvrit is just higher (41 rather than 40! ) so if that is the case I'll leave it to Urauloth! Lysimachus
Very nice minis! I think I actually prefer your kitbash for Ravyx, but if Iorek wears Mk V that looks like a great base. Change arms and backpack and it doesn't look like an Apothecary any more, especially if you can cover up the gubbins on the belt (what about the crossed belt knives from the Grey Hunter kit?) I'm not 100% on the helm, but you can get nice resin prints that look more like the classic Mk V, or just go with a wolfy bare head? Quite possibly, though of course that's up to BC to decide. If so, Elvrit will happily go last, as I don't think being environmentally sealed actually makes any difference to him? He's got Machine(3) so he's immune to cold, vacuum or needing to breathe anyway… I was just trying to help out the other PCs! Trokair
I was working on the assumption that we need to get through this first mission before we had resources to do such things as repair our armour to have vacuum seals again and such. Trokair
So, I hear, that some of you wanted to see some Hazard stripes. The first one I attempted was on the Knee, it did not go well. I then went to the back leg were instead of diagonal stripes I made the middle of the three segments black. Then I tried the flat surface on the autocannon, and these were ok, not great, but certainly nowhere near as bad as the knee. From there I tired it on the chest, and it went alright it, the curved surface is a problem but it only curved a little. I am not sure i can do the shoulderpad, it is all curves, so that might just stay yellow. Also the yellow should be the same everywhere, and certainly yellow not orange like it looks in the picture. Mazer Rackham
Looks fantastic, Tro. Great work. Those hazards and yellow break up the metal well. +++ Are we just having the transmission played on the bridge and let Nuzry shout any answers? Lysimachus
@Tro: Superb, unmistakably IW! @Mazer: I reckon so, I think BC said there was a very slight lag in comms at this point, so presumably it's more like they send a message, we send one back, etc, rather than a direct conversation? Def agree on letting Nuzry be the voice... unless we hear from the IW, in which case I guess Hadad might be best to take over? Lysimachus
Ooh, interesting... does anyone know if 'the Black Tithe' is just another name (that I haven't heard! ) for the regular Imperial Tithe, or does it relate to the Black Ships? Are we walking into a coven of witches? And they know we're a Legion ship, but which Legion do they think it is? Are the idents unchanged, so they know it's the Salamanders Darnok's Tribute? Edit: And... if they've had no contact for months, they don't know about Horus at all - not about the original culling of the 4 Legions at Istvaan III or about the Imperial response or the Dropsite Massacre? Mazer Rackham
I suspect it's the psyker picnic. I think we need to get them talking a bit more, might be best if we play honest, but dumb. Maybe discuss the last compliance action the ship was involved in, for a bit of news, and we have no idea about this tithe. We've been involved in a mis-jump as part of a Compliance Fleet redeployment. That could sidestep a few headaches, and explain the damage as well? If the Governor knows we're a Legion vessel, I expect the Iron Warriors will too. Lysimachus
Agreed, that sounds like a plan. Lysimachus
Coolio. So, they know the name and Legion of our ship, so there's no point pretending to be anything else. Should we have Nuzry reply what we tell her, rather than speak ourselves and confirm that Astartes are aboard? What do we have her say to the Governor? Do we still think the following: Say we've been out of contact too (Compliance action, hunting xenos, whatever!), we got lost or left behind by our fleet? We don't know anything of what has happened recently (and more specifically, anything about their Tithe)? We need to use their Astropath to contact the Salamanders, as ours was injured? We have taken damage (during last mission or in transit, whatever again!) and our records show that there is an Astartes facility on Phastus where we might be able to seek aid and resupply? Anything else?
