At least, at the same level of the assault squad box. Jet bike box is amazing but the chainswords are awful.  Really awful

I think he's holding a helmet in his hand. You can see the regular wristarmour of mk3 arms in some angles.

Honestly given its previewed on its own and them releasing Consuls at the moment I think it's exactly that. 

 

Everyone assuming it's part of a command squad is a bit premature......though I do hope it is the case. Though I expect the command squad to be Mk6 and a lot of the parts be cross compatible.

Wow some silhouettes. What a wonderful pre-preview lol. 

 

I'm happy for people who're excited for a certain mark of command squad over another, but I was expecting something more than what was on the roadmap. Was hoping for more a long the lines of the SA scout sentinel; a new unit we didn't know was coming, even just more LI models or something. The new consuls and apothecaries have been doing a better job of creating excitement than their 2024 trailer.

 

Maybe they put the bar too high already, or were told to give the big reveal to the DA stuff. Idk.

They showed the scout sentinel. The did not show the Heavy Sentinel. The light walket is entirely new and had not been on the roadmap.

I mean, the body of the herald could be from the MkIII Squad, and the arms could be generic arms in which you can attach the MkIII vambraces if needed. If someone is up to comparing the stock poses of the tactical squad with this silhouette, it might shed some light into it. 

 

Even if that would be a tad disappointing, it would make sense for GW to use the 5-man sprue (either MkIII or MkVI) as the basis, and then add one/two sprues of bling and armour-agnostic bits to make apothecaries, heralds, and other specialists/consuls. 

 

 

As for the solar auxilia, I am excited for them, even if I'm not likely to buy them as I have a bunch of proxies awaiting building for a few years now. The "light sentinels" are also great news, as I always felt the old ones mixed well with SA, and now I have an excuse to use them as proxies for these ones.

...how are we even having a debate about whether the standard bearer is resin or plastic? There's a plastic command squad on the roadmap for spring. Occam's razor would dictate this fits with that kit.

Because we don't know if it's a MK3 command squad or not. Given this fella was previewed alone and during a period where lots of Consuls are getting released there's a good chance he's just a Herald Consul. 

 

For all we know the command squad is in MK6. 

 

Don't get me wrong I'd be happy if he was part of the command squad and it was MK3 but that might not be the case.

Is that a tactical rock on the herald? That wouldn't be too conducive to the idea that the command squad is based on the tactical sprues.

The roadmap has plastic command squad and unknown new plastic army. It's hardly a huge leap in logic to think this is plastic. Especially when you factor in the 40k roadmap has orks, custodes and tau on it. What did we get earlier this week? Tau, custodes, orks...

 

However, if it is "just" an upgrade sprue I'll be quite mift. Command squads are in artificer armour so to have arms tacked onto the basic marines would be a shame. 

 

We'll see in the not too distant future.

Yeah or a Consul Herald to continue the current trend of Consul releases. You'd think they'd preview the full command squad together and they could also be MK6 rather than MK3.

Kind of an awkward way to tease it compared to the other videos, but we know SA are at least getting an infantry and mounted unit, rather than just vehicles, so that one can be put to rest conclusively.

 

Now, the question is what else they put in there.

Based on the fact that every silhouette has been a single thing then no. The command squad will be previewed together when it drops but this isn't a preview, its a preview for a preview :)

The Warhammer account posted this video on Instagram and in the comments the official account responded “Maybe” with eyeball emojis to a person asking if that was a mark III command squad they were seeing. Not 100% confirmation, but I think that supports the command squad being mark III.

We shall see, I hope it is the command squad and they are in MK3 but it could easily just be a Consul. Neither of us will know for certain until GW says one way or the other.
