Cpt.Danjou
CSM 10th edition Dark Apostle This is a topic about Dark Apostle in the 10th edition. Do you use them? How are you using them? Do you think they perform well? How do you equip them? Do you attach them to any specific unit? Is there a detachment that they are extra crucial? Any Enhancements that you like to use with them? Gree
You would likely be seeing the Dark Apostle in far more lists if the Dark Disciples became optional. As it is, they make him awkward to join units in transports. As it is, people run two 5-man Legionary squads in Rhinos, so it make him awkward to fit him in. Most people just add a Chaos Lord or MoE instead. Otherwise, he's an excellent character that synergizes very well with Legionaries. Dr_Ruminahui
Yeah, he seems like a unique way of doing basically the same kind of stuff as a lord or an MoE - with the disadvantage that he won't fit in a rhino with a full unit of legionaires and he can't be paired with another character like the MoE can. His advantage is you can attach him to mortal units unlike most chaos characters, but you probably don't want to given the flimsiness and lack of potency of most of those squads. I really wish he did have a separate role other than "buff melee" like so many of our other characters and like previous editions, but he doesn't - which kind of puts him in a weird place where you can't put him in a transport but also can't pair him with the defensive buff sorcerer which you really want for a foot slogging unit. As such, he's pretty good on paper he just doesn't fit well into the rules actually work - oddly enough, he'd be a easier to use if he didn't have his flunkies. I have fielded one in a couple of games under the codex, but it didn't do much - first game, his squad only made it in against a marine squad that was already being eaten by possesseds, and in the other he and his squad sat ontop of an objective marker to generate cps (it was a mission where characters generated extra cps on some objectives) - so I can't say my game experience is very informative of their tabletop utility. Gree
He's one of the few sources of LD5 in the Chaos codex, so he's a bit more interesting in the Pactbound Zealots detachment. You have to pass the LD check to get the Mark buff.
