I don't know, TBH. Do they? Where would they live, do you think? Ogryns are generally high-gravity worlds

Originally yes, though depending on when the planet was colonised/rediscovered they could be the remnants of original labour - it could be odd to find ratlings, ogryns and non-mutants all native to the same world.

Good comments - the frontier world could have been lost long ago, much like the Mayans before them, stuff just abandoned, then rediscovered a few times until the resettlement 'took', so there's bags of these old, human-built bits and pieces around for no real fathomable reason. Could even have it where there is some kind of annual caravan of the Ogryns or whoever, to a great ziggurat out in the wilderness, which originally was for getting work orders or food distribution, but now they just go there for ritual and tradition, and it's developed into a general sacred meeting ground for talks and trade between groups.

Depends on how deeply people want to get into it.

I like the suggestion of Ogryn's being much much older inhabitants of the planet (whose society devolved and only the toughest endured?) and the regular humans are new Imperial settlers.

I suppose a few Ratlings could have come in with the re-settlers?

Side point, are we going with your standard 'Imperial' sounding names for our settlers?

Edit: also, I was thinking about how we've got Common Lore War and IG.

Would it be worth saying that the re-settlers (maybe grandparents generation?) were an IG regiment rewarded with settlement rights for the planet when their regiment was retired at the end of a campaign?

Would explain where we got gear and knowledge from?

Don't see why not.

Is this query for me? They're your chocolate guzzling savages! Call 'em what you want - although I think anything along the lines of Dingus T Buttbrunch might be inappropriate...

Perfect!

@Trokair, @Machine God, since you guys are our resident Ogryns, what do you think?

Likewise, @BadgersinHills, any thoughts on Ratlings?

All of this fluffiness is optional so don't worry about giving your two cents if fleshing out the homeworld doesn't interest you.

It was for anyone and everyone. But cool.

My weapon specialist is Calvin Molina (Cal to his squadmates)

and his (first) Comrade is Roland (or Roly for short) and he is apparently a bit of a 'Sarcastic' whatsit, so that might be fun for narrative!

While the suggestion of having some native Ogryn’s sounds good, for Por, as I already have a bit of back-story for him, will be from somewhere else, and attached as an auxiliary at some point.  Perhaps Maks is a native.

If the regiment comes from a world that has indigenous Ogryns then they may be better in working alongside and with Ogryns than your average regiment, and could be a reason for why Ogryn Auxiliaries are attached to the Regiment. And even why there are two attached to one squad.

As for Ratlings, Mesoamerican Hobbits sounds interesting if that is what you want BadgersinHills, but as with the other Auxiliary forces it is up to you as to where you character is from.

If you're familiar with the Dark Sun setting for D&D, you could go a step further with said Mesoamerican hobbits having a penchant for being murderous little dino-riding thieves with a taste for man-flesh. Filed teeth and intense xenophobia come standard.
