Lathe Biosas
In the meantime, you can just spray paint your Centurions and firstborn Marines silver and run them as Grey Knights. (Centurions and Dreadknights are both so ugly most players can't look directly at them during a game, so you should be fine.) What is the plan here to make it so nobody else sucks for years? Nothing? Space Marines do not play like how most people would assume they do from the lore; they are borderline a horde army with how many bodies you can stack in a list, for an army that's supposed to represent an elite special forces type unit that traditionally works alongside more standard battlefield army set-ups. Now they'll be priced higher and hit more in line with where most people's expectations are. My personal experience is that no one had any issue removing T4 bodies, and I don't think T5 really changes things that much; people seem more than capable of removing T6 Plague Marine bodies without too much consternation so I don't think T5 is some crazy new breakpoint; lasguns still hit the same. NothingHere
This kind of just cements that marines aren't allowed to be interesting or cool anymore. You get a sliver of something interesting (like the new captain on bike) or a holdout of something that realistically shouldn't ever be retired and has been around since the inception of modern 40k. Now Marines are just Eldar. What is cool about this faction again? That we get 300 new models every week and only 2 of them are worth a damn? Why play another faction when we just shove everything into this one with nothing unique of their own. Hover tanks? Play Marines, Jetbikes? Play Marines, Aspect Warriors? What the :cuss: is an Eldar? PLAY MARINES. The tactical squad isn't even going to legends they are just straight up deleting it. Nothing to even replace it either; Intercessors are as boring as they ever were. Now all the actually cool tanks are gone too. Glad i bought another Baal Predator before they become 400$ on the aftermarket. Good riddance to the bunker and supressors i guess. Tawnis
I'd originally put this in one of the other threads about this topic, but this seems to be where everyone is discussing it at the moment. There is another thing to consider. They said that the old Tactical Squads will now be "Legendary Proxies" and can count as Intercessor Squads... however, the old Tacticals had a variety of special weapons they could equip. Is this hinting that in the new codex, Intercessor Squads will get some of the weapon customization options that the old Tacticals had? The pic on Warcom only said what they were showing was "some of the weapon profiles" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/388419-codex-space-marines-multi-part-intercessor-vanguard-vet-teaser-legends-culling/page/5/#findComment-6183869 Share on other sites
Evil Eye
Glad I bought a Vindicator when I did now. A sad day for sure to see the last vestiges of real non-Poochie Marines gone, also straight-up erasing Devastators and having them counts-as Desolators is pathetic. Yes, the variety of ways you can build and equip Devastators is totally represented on the tabletop by those stupid Nerf guns... Borbarad
That's an interesting shakeup of the old formula, I'm looking forward how it will play out. That said, I was always a proponent of the T value being inherit to the physiology of the warrior (e.g. all space marines being the same T with extremely few eceptions) rather than representing toughness brought forth by armour and the like. Now you can model a unit with the models you like and have carte blanche to ignore the models and have the great rules... so you can have them with the archetypal heavy bolters and not have the unit suck... for example. It's really not so bad there. I'm sad to see suppressors go for the rules, the models were never good though. 48 minutes ago, irlLordy said: It seems like you only get one hammer for the Sgt. Subtleknife
I feel they missed such a big opportunity with intercessors. They should have squished assault intercessors and intercessors together (which saves a datasheet). Then given them both bolter and chainsword. For the 5th model, the marine can exchange his bolter for a plasma, melta or flamer etc. That way you could have quite a few unique actions from throwing grenades, chopping with the chainsword or aiming with the bolter etc. You would also have a super versatile unit for marines. I just don't see much difference from the old intercessor kit. New Rhino chassis sculpts instead of the flying boxes that is Repulsor family. I like the quality of the plastic Deimos kits, but the Vindicator and Whirlwind Scorpius are the only Deimos Pattern vehicles I like. Round doors and exposed smoke stacks just aren't my thing. I do like Sicarans, Sabres and Arquitors a lot. Would be nice to see the last two in plastic. As much as I adore the look of the kit 150 euro for a single tank that's not even Land Raider size is insanity. If I had my way the Primaris range for generic Space Marines it would be 6 kits at most. Tactical Intercessors, Assault Intercessors (with or without jumpacks in the same box like the old assault squad), Primaris Devastators, one Phobos kit with all the options (Eliminator guns included), Vanguard and Sternguard Veterans. Mold and sprue space for all the superflous nonsense (like Inceptors, Aggressors, Heavy Intercessors, three different Phobos kits and so on) would be repurposed for vehicles and upgrade frames that are worth the price (not a collection of 30 bare heads with 10 helmets).
