Ouch, those are some not great prices...

Land Speeder is a great kit in my opinion, but not a £41 kit. Monopose Eradicators with HBs costing more than the multipart Eradicators is not good either.

Being honest did you have interest in one anyway?

Yes. Tacticus bodies are all I'm interested about and I'm curious how these compare to the original release. They say there's 13 helmets split across three different marks and there was also mention of different arm poses, but it's a lot of telling and very little showing. What's the split? From the previews released I could count 6 Mark X helmets and that leaves 7 unaccounted for. It's an odd contrast to how the Boyz were previewed. The inconsistency bothers me and I'm impatient so I'd like to know sooner rather than later.

The Ork equivalent also came out at the same time as their codex.

Are we treating anyone else the same as marines now? jk

Being serious though surely an individual jump chaplain would sell reasonably well. Or at very least is a core character

Not sure on the right term but the previous sprue exclusive models were niche enough or had primaris models already; ancients, judiciae, chonky apothecary etc

I don't think the hourglass-executioner guy has had a solo release yet.

What i heard it has 13 helmets. 3 "new" ones so odds are those are the only older marks in the box. I assume the rest is unhelmet/half masks

The heroes of the chapter type sprues have previously come out much much later, and I wouldve thought the Jump Chaplain would surely get its own/standalone release for a reasonably inconic character

Nah, this way they can milk you for more cash.

As with the separate ork releases, Armageddon really was a (relative) bargain box.

I’ve just realized I’m actually debating starting a new army and I’ve always fancied Custodes…which just so happens to be coming next.

Damnit GW you made the Marine release so underwhelming for me I’m going to end up spending more money than had you just released a new Venerable Dread.

£41.50 for 5 Van Vets!

I have been really looking forward to these boys and how to bling them up as Blood Angels but I am reconsidering at that price!  I can get 10 of the monopose from a certain online auction site for that price. I may get the Armageddon ones and some 3D printed shields at that price.

what were you expecting? Sternguard are £40

I had forgotten there was a reason I never bought any Sternguard.

Was looking at the captain on bike to lead my outrider squad...but £37 is a wee bit much. I'll have to see what the 3rd party prices come out as. The codex is at least an easier price to deal with though I think the sweet spot would be twenty (or £8 if they want to be nostalgic  .... that one is a dream though)

I'm excited to see the rules for all units in the new codex.

I still have a bunch of Rhinos as well. If they are compelling, I might bring them out of retirement.

I would buy Heresy Rhinos because the models are so much nicer, but I suspect that when GW update the 40k model it will get bigger...

Sadly gw took kinda lazy route with captain aswell. Just give him that weird halfcape over the shoulder, add more chonk to already chonk bike and so on.

Could´ve atleast give bikes something different, not just addon parts. GW could easily make actual multipart bikes with slimmer chassis on sides for "more speed" but instead they propably still give you big parts with more parts layered ontop.

Something I have been meaning to ask for a long time, and this community seems to have lots of people who are knowledgeable about actual guns ...

How common is it to hold a long gun (rifle or assault rifle) like this?

image.thumb.png.45e647acb691fc6eacb02994becb976f.png

For some reason this pose bothers me, and GW is using it a lot lately. I was hoping it would not be forced in the multipart Eradicators kit, but even when they are painted in blue as in today's WarCom announcement, the sergeant is still in this pose.

When you do an image search for "real people holding long guns with one hand", you certainly get the impression that no one holds a gun like this.

Well, mostly because it's very strange to rest the butt on his knee. Moreover, he won't be able to do anything further until he frees his other hand. This heavy bolter weighs a lot. And when trying to somehow manipulate it, it's just fall off. I don’t know what photos you looked at, but during my service, when I had to fiddle with a machine gun, I either put it with its butt on the ground, or held it on my shoulder, or held it by the strap, wrapped around my hand. It's certainly not a heavy bolter, still it's 25 kilo though.

I mean, real life you'd probably be using a sling so you could let it drop and draw your sidearm

As for this guy in particular, I wouldn't say its unrealistic, Id note that he does have a carry handle on the top though which would make a bit more sense.

Carrying it under the barrel like that is fine, resting it on the leg is the semi iffy part, at least from my time working with an infantry platoon, but then again they arent space marines so who knows

Considering how many poses we nowdays have with "hold weapon at rest" This is true oddity out there.

A: He clearly spent all his ammo, note the "empty" box mag on base
B: The weapon malfunctioned and dropped mag (tut tut Cawl, 10k years to make it perfect)
C: If they only have one mag to use, then what´s the damn point even?! Most primarinades don´t have extra ammo or even idea of more ammo.

The model itself is just... i dunno, "we tested pose and it looked okay on cad" Feeling. The pointing pistol/melee weapon trend is done to death at this point due the sheer amount of stuff gw pushes out

Entire model is a good reference for a new sculpt topic here on b&c. Whole sculpt weapon pose looks odd.

I'm also very curious about what that round thing is right after the handle? It's present on other Primary weapons as well, looks like it should rotate.

What a lame release.

The range is pretty complete. There's not a lot to actually add.

That's the Cawl cylinder.

All the Primaris ranged weapons have them.

There is no in world description of function.

I can't remember the exact source, but I could have sworn is was described somewhere as an auto-stabilizer.

The pose is a huge soup sandwich from a realism perspective.

1. He has a spare magazine/drum in a pouch back center of his belt.

2. His pistol is next to it, on the back-left of his belt.

3. He is presumably right handed, like every other space marine, and the other eradicators in his squad.

So, following this logic, he ran out of ammo, dumped his magazine to start a reload - which he would have to do with his right hand, because he decided to put his pistol in the way of reaching for his reload with his left - and decided that the threat was immediate enough that he needed to go for his secondary.  However, because he has his secondary on the left side of his belt instead of his right, in order to draw his secondary he first has to shuffle the heavy bolter between his hands and brace it on his knee so he can then draw and fire his pistol.

This guy is a larper that has never had to actually use his gear before today.
