Well that was the exact same choice we had before and you even acknowledge it by saying we only picked half of the Vows, so wheres the issue exactly? Because nothing changed except we have no army rule and the one we had is now  nerfed and baked into detachment, so what exactly did this fix or what exactly did the army gain? Because your entire point is that thing A sucked because we only picked two but New THing B is good because now we get to choose between two rules, what exactly is your point?

This is a feather in the cap of "give them their own codex" really.

Someone done leaked the detachments

Some interesting stuff, but since I'm in the office I can't do the big dive I was hoping for.

Almost all the detachments, I didn’t see Stormlance. Not all the info was there for some detachments, but I liked what I read. More thoughts when I have time for a longer post.

The damocles upgrade for transports is a neat reason to model a satellite dish on a transport of your choice, maybe even steal it from the deimos rhino upgrade kit or the impulsor.

Looks like there's at least 2 different people who are leaking the codex.

One who knows how to take photos properly and one who doesn't.

Steal? You mean reclaim.

Another leak. I came across this on reddit by chance but couldn't find it again to see if there was more...

Not a particularly interesting Smurf.

Also, am I correct in saying that you can run a divergent chapter army without being forced to use any of their specific detachments?

I've seen a few BT players complaining about the 3 detachments they're "forced" to use.

My immediate, thoughtless, reaction is I feel bad for the Emperor’s Champion.

Just give your champion a name and say he is best buddies with Calgar, should make his rolls better

Perhaps, but with this enhancement you are technically not limited to a rhino. One could plonk increasingly more massive dishes on a Land Raider for instance.

and here we have the full codex.

Only had a quick glance, but the most important part of all: Bladeguard Ancients aren't trash in combat anymore!

More importantly: Bladeguard Ancients are still a thing?!

I would have bet good money they just get rolled into the Ancient data sheet.

They should have, but GW can't be known for consistency.

A lot of weapons don't have increased strength.

It does look like the intent is for Marines to be tougher, not for everything to increase to the point where the new toughness is made irrelevant.

Gravis stays at T6.

...Reivers are now just... fantastic

Oh yeah thats me, Im sorry for wanting to play my army with their rules instead of playing Ultramarines, so far the only way to get that is through detachments so if I want to use VOWS, you know the rule they have had since their inception and what drew me to the chapter, I have to use a detachment and then add whatever else. So yeah, options are limited if you want your army to keep having the flavour that made you want to play that army.

At least before I could use any detachment and still use my army's special rule so in terms of gameplay it felt like I was playing a distinct army and not yet another UM variant.

The Carbine actually has a purpose now when it didn't before.

Knives are cooler by default though, and I feel like if you really want Precision shots you'll just take Eliminators.

Can someone confirm this, apparently Kor'sarro Khan gained a Ranged weapon that's just setting his bird on the enemy????

He did. Two S4 AP-1 D2 at BS3+.

Still not seeing a reason to use Korsarro but maybe another deep read later or someone else will find purpose for him.

To clarify I didn't mean someone in here.

I meant that I've been seeing these comments a lot in the subreddits and facebook comments.

BT has just been very notable in those comments because a lot of people seem genuinely angry that they're apparently forced to use the vows rather than ignore them which is the opposite sentiment than in here.

You aren't though. You still have a bunch of bespoke units, and you act like Black Templars are smooth brained and don't use any tactics besides "hit the dude" with no flexibility whatsoever.

This is what I'm talking about with pigeonholding. The army is BETTER now and you'll be able to build a fantastic number of different ways.

Did you even read my post? I already could build my army in a number of ways because the army had their own rule which meant whatever detachment I use felt like a Templar detachment, the flexibility was already there!

You keep making up all these imaginary problems which are somehow solved but they werent problems, the only thing that changed is my army no longer feels like a BT army.

And as much as I like a balanced army, who in their right mind plays BT and NOT make a list that focuses on close combat? ALL OUR UNITS ARE ABOUT CLOSE COMBAT!

WHats next? Youre gonna tell me people arent playing BA for their jump infantry? Give me a break.

But they have both now. Reivers just now have the gun, the pistol and the melee weapon. Same with scouts. Which is mildly annoying, as my models definitely are not built that way.

It would have been impossible to build them with all of those weapons since the kit isn't designed that way. All of the carbines aside from the Sergeant's option are two-handed and there are no sheathed Combat Knives, only hand-wielded versions. So unless your squad are a disguised Genestealer Cult unit, you're going to run out of arms before you can model all of the weapons they now carry as standard.

What the Hell, let the "new Reivers kit" rumors begin (after all, that's so much more likely than GW just doing something stupid... again).
