Mogger351
12 minutes ago, Orange Knight said: So these rumors are all porkies. We can extrapolate and make educated guesses for characters like Valdor. I would imagine: M8, T7, 2+ 4++, W9, LD5+, OC1 His axe would be 7 attacks, Str10, Ap-3, Damage 3, Lethal Hits If you look at the Power Talon on the Aquilon, it doesn't have a crazy profile, and if you look at Marines not all weapons balooned in power. It's honestly not that simple, again ghaz as an example went up 3" of movement, 4 toughness and 6 wounds with a slight buff to his melee weapon of +1 attack, dev wounds and cleave on top. and is sat at 300 pts with a profile similar to that fictional rumour. We've got relative nobodies like Kaius lobbing out 5 s10 ap-3 d3 attakcs these days. With the random "elite-ing with complimentary small price hike" going on, it is legitimately harder to say what is/isn't possible or likely. Most denials of any of the rumours have been founded in looking at marines and complaining it'd make marines less shiny, which isn't enough grounds to say something is wrong or off. I fully understand some/many will disagree, but for me personally it'll be the wild west for the next few years working out what is/isn't normal in a world of s/t5 marines and orks. 21 minutes ago, Alternis said: Review copies sent out to 3rd parties are provisional points costs, they are not final, never are. No, no debating those are fake if the OP owned up, just explaining how they're not immediately unbelievable. DemonGSides
He's been considered Primarch level for a while, or at least close enough to to justify a pretty high Strength. His 10th ed datacard even says it explicitly As mentioned by others, he's already at Strength 10, so 2 more strength isn't really that crazy. We know that Valdor dueled a young Alpharius in Alpharius: Head of the Hydra and in The Master of Mankind, it says Valdor "was considered an equal of the primarchs themselves in matters of blade-work." The current Captain-General is no King in Yellow Valdor, but Valoris should be able to wipe the floor with anyone short of the Lion in the 40k setting. I rather feel that Pheonix Lords should be at his level or better, though GW rules writers obviously disagree in their rampant Imperial favouritism. I agree, I cam understand GW not wanting to ramp up phoenix lord stats too far as they've supposed to be frailer than a custode really but at a minimum as dangerous. It's one instance where a lot of hit, wound and crit modifiers with stacked rules is needed to offset raw digits perhaps. Jain zar with critical lethal hits 4+ for example of something plucked out thin air. I don't disagree on things like Exarchs getting things like WS/BS2+ and W3-4, and obviously Phoenix Lords should be higher in power. That said, I think all sans Maugen have seen some competitive players because of their great price and/or rules/combos. Based on these last two codices I think you'll be fine. The actual Primarchs had no increase to the strength of their weapons. Neither did a lot of weapons across a lot of characters. I just don't believe this guy should have more hard hitting attacks than the Lion for half the cost, whilst being able to hide inside a unit. Not that discussing the profile matters at this point after the previous rumors were revealed to be fabrications... Not that discussing the profile matters at this point after the previous rumors were revealed to be fabrications... The 10th ed lion has a whopping 1 less attack than the false rumour but gains lethals and has better AP and again, it's not real, but if it was and was written contemporary to 335 pt lion it becomes less far out. I keep saying it but he's likely to land at ghaz type profile - one solid weapon that could belong on a primarch profile with a cleave modifier. Likely d3 or d4. If the average custodian is up 2 wounds and 1 T, then he's likely to get a chunky wound buff as well. Probs a 300ish lone op aura bearer as all the big faction reps have been thus far. Orange Knight
I predict he'll stay at Str10, and might get a single high damage attack like Calgar. Look at the Aquillon Terminator. Str6, damage 1 claws. Nothing crazy. We shouldn't be focusing on the toughness and durability of units and expecting all damage and strength to rise the same way as this has not been the case across the board. One example is Plasma in 11th editon - it's simply worse at wounding Marines. I like the idea of unit profiles taking a greater advantage of the range of toughness and wound values, whilst not just making the change irrelevant by ramping up damage to the same degree. In any case, we don't have to wait long to find out - It's the next Codex after Marines. Robbienw
Well he still matches the style of the Wardens, they are not being removed from the model like. Lord Marshal
'First look: Adeptus Custodes datasheets' Quote This overwhelming might is balanced out by a reduced model count – no squad of Custodians can now exceed three models (before you add in any Leaders), with some having even fewer than that. redmapa
Only 3 models per squad? Interesting, I guess that will make it easier to focus down each squad because those statlines are already making me sweat, if people were worried about T5 marines then oooooh boooy hope ya'll are holding your knickers with both hands. Orange Knight
I was wrong. He is strength 12! But that's not the 9 attacks base the rumor was talking about (he does have his time shackle skill, should be noted), that didn't pass the sniff test for me. Stil, absolute monster of a unit. All of these datasheets look really strong. The custodes are approaching movie marine stats, and I'm here for it. I will probably start this army in ernest. Custodes were already sat in between wound breakpoints on the in and out for wound rolls, this doesn't shift them in or out of those break points largely. He's a monster, even has the Guilliman re-roll aura (not counting vehicles) which is actually more impactful for Custodes because their accuracy and weapon Strength is so much higher on average. I even like that the units are limited to 3. It really does create the feel of these super warriors cutting down scores of enemies.
