WIP Heresy Era World Eaters

Doghouse

Recommended Posts

Here's a couple of shots of my new World Eater army that I'm working on.

The first model is the prototype so he's extremely rough around the edges as I just wanted something to test the colour scheme out on (not sure if I got it right as it's from memory).

The second shot is of the captain and a marine. I've still got a load of GS stuff to do one them, mostly cleaning up the greeves on the captain and sculpting the World Eaters insignia onto the chest plate.

I've never been happy with the proportions of the plastic marines so I've opted for the Cadian Sergeant head for the Captain and extended the legs on all the models.

I've specifically toned down the weaponary on the Captain limiting him to a bolter and chainsword because he's an Astarte and doesn't need flash wargear to bring death to the enemies of the Emperor/Warmaster (probably going to field them as Codex:SM for Isstvaan V Loyalists or Codex:CSM for World Eater Traitors as required...).

Cheers Guys!

Here's a couple more, Apothecary and Flamer Marine (may alter the flamer marine with a nossel leading to fuel tanks on his back).

they look great so far!

one thing though, I think these really would have looked good with the resculpted chaos warrior legs you do  along with the FW heads etc they would have been perfect!

still love how they look so far cant wait to see a painted squad

I like the captain, very nice and characterful work. The test piece shows the GS work on the legs, but you did mention it was a quick job, so thats probably it. I'd certainly like to see more when they are done!

They look great, and I especially like your captain!

Very dynamic with a cool looking armour conversion.

Love the fact that your stretching their legs a bit to.

As for the colour scheme, it seems you got it right:

I thought they had blue legs below the knee to, but it seems I was mistaken.

Nice work, keep it up!

very nice! *must resist urge to do mid-heresy World Eaters..*

looks good, but older marked armor didnt have knee pads

MkIV has always had kneepads according to GW ~ the original 'mark' armour designs had mkVI as the only design without kneepads, when they released the armless variant minis some time in 2nd edition several other marks lost their kneepads, but the MkIV kept theirs

very good stuff so far, youll be suprised how good codex units actually work, cost effectively also, try using them as a defensive unit, put behind cover with a heavy bolter and just shoot away till they assault you, it works really well (doesnt worry against nids tho, youll get beat)

Thanks guys :)

Blindhamster: Thanks mate, I did toy around with using the WFB CW legs as with my BTs and DA but they looked a little too gothic. The odd thing about the marine armour variants is that they tryed to go more sci-fi with the last Aquila armour plastic boxed set then did a three sixty and returned to a darker more gothic feel for the marines. This actually makes some sense as it reflects the Imperiums decline in technological understanding. I'm trying to represent marines from the Imperiums Golden Age just before things went wrong with the Heresy so want a mass produced effect for the armour.

rat of vengeance/rabblerouser:This guy's pretty rough because I couldn't wait to gt started on the paint job. I can still salvage him though and the rest will be a lot smoother. :)

Magnum Opera: I am toying around with the idea of having Cruade armour for the assault sqauds but not too sure yet, I'll wait till I get the first two squads out fot he way first.

Hrvat: As Des rightly pointed out they are the Forge World Red Scorpions. :)

Sanqunius'chosen: I'll hve to think about that one, good idea.

Tagsta: Thanks mate, I'm working on a way of scratch builing some chain-axes to add to the squads. I don't want to go ovrboard on the axes though just a couple here and there to add character.

Chaplain Desmodus: Cheers mate! :)

Maladon: I'm not too sure. I was thinking mybe C:SM with the Furious Charge and Trust in your battel brothers to make them true close combat monsters. Furious Charge because of their reputation as frenzied close combat nutters and Trust in your Battle Brotheers so that they can have a bolter and a chainsword.

Failing that C:CSM with furious charge veteran ability and use the Daemon Prince rules to make Angron as a Primarch before the Heresy. Not sure, the latter means I've got to sculpt an Angron to go with them...tempting one that...

Chaptermaster Greymantle: Thanks mate. I've tryed to keep the Captain simple, a nice leading from the front sort of feel.

Cpt Tiberius: I've loved the Heresy since the daysof Adeptus Titanicus and Epic Space Marine and although I've dabbled with pre-heresy stuff before the release of the Forge World MKIV armour I've never been happy with the results. Now I just want them to release other variants and an MK1 Landraider and I'll be happy. Here's hoping that IA 5 or 6 is the Horus Heresy...

Those are really cool, and I think you've got the feel of pre-heresy to them, even if they have modern bolters and some shoulder rims. Overall amazing.

I vote you do Angron.

EDIT- There are a few mold lines here and there on some of them, but I'm sure you'll clean them off, right? :)

Cheers mate! I'd love to sculpt Angron as described in False Gods in his gladitorial style armour. Maybe after I've got these guys done. :)

Ok, I've reworked the bolters now replacing them with the old second ed versions as seen here.

looking good there

i was under the impression that the FW red scorpions armour had little scorpion icons in the middle of the webbing, how did you cover/remove that if it does?

also what torso was used for the pointy shouty serg in your very first post? is that a red scorpion torso as well?

cheers

millest
