Dragonlover
Anyone got any cool ideas for modelling Iron Warriors Cultists with autoguns? Don't want to use Dark Vengeance guys but am also drawing a blank on what to do instead. Dragonlover Well, the Neophyte Hybrids come with autoguns by default. With their miner outfits, there's not much work to be done (beyond turning their GC emblems into a IVth skull/Chaos Star/God's icon). Plus you can use the variants as mutants (especialy the Aberrants)... And with the slew of extra weapons you get in there, you're well on your way towards building a Necromunda Gang afterwards! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296724-iron-within-iron-without-an-iron-warriors-community/page/56/#findComment-4979428 Share on other sites
Panzer
Yeah I'd definitely use GSC Neophyte Hybrids. However they are not exactly cheap either for a Horde unit. sushi2001
Use coverted skitarii infantry, they are small and very mechanic which makes them stick with the Iron Warriors theme IMHO. Galron
Agreed. IW are either going to use common slave fodder for the most part just to dig and take hits or highly skilled engineer types of guys to stretch their assets out some. Obviously far more slave types than valuable serfs. I doubt they would even be cultists since IW arent really into the chaos thing and dont have anyone who is going to stand there and preach when there is design work to be done on the next big project. The fodder isnt going to live long enough to worship some inconsequential gods anyway, although the stats work just fine for common fodder. I would use DKoK for the better trained engineer dudes using Marauder rules and whatever rabble type models you can find for the fodder in the main detachment. sebs_evo7
Reading siege of castellax at the moment The IW have several combat regiments on the world but they are all completely expendable to them. The imperial guard models would perfectly represent the PDF (cadians). They also have specialists who are scouts/trackers (could use catachans converted) and motorized infantry (steel legion?) Anyways I’m definitely not going to be using the cultist models Warpmiss 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296724-iron-within-iron-without-an-iron-warriors-community/page/56/#findComment-4979866 Share on other sites
Warpmiss
@shushi2001, I was considering to get some skitarii/AdMech troops to because: Precisely what you said: an excuse for cultists that fit the IWs aesthetic. IWs & Dark AdMech seem to be in good terms. Or the fluff indicates it in some places. Plus in my own fluff for my IWs warband they work hand in hand with Dark AdMech so it makes sense to have some of them running around. It's the perfect excuse to get models of one of my favorite factions without starting another army. hahaha @sebs_evo7, How is the book itself? I want to read it since IWs and Orks sounds like a fun read but I recall someone mentioned it wasn't very engaging. sebs_evo7 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296724-iron-within-iron-without-an-iron-warriors-community/page/56/#findComment-4980402 Share on other sites

Goreshed
Siege of Castellex was.... Well to be honest the main arch of the story is pretty great. The IW are the besieged and face off against orks. But some of the sub plots to it all....well they leave something to be desired. Now, don't get me wrong, a ton of ideas are thrown around in that book and make you really appreciate the depths the author went to try and bring out the nature that is Chaos and an undivided legion. Does it hit the Grim Dark mark? Oh definitely. Is it on par with Storm of Iron? Concept wise, yes. The wording and such I felt was a bit off and some of the characters interactions were...lack luster to say the least. But I encourage any IW fan to read it if only to gain more ideas for conversions. Goreshed
It all depends on how you play your IW. If you are trying to be more shooty then go with a forgefiend. If you are trying to be more assaulting an enemy stronghold, Maulers fit the bill a bit better. One or Two Forgefiends can actually work now if you want to focus some buffs on them (Lord/Prince, Prescience, various Daemon tricks depending on Mark). Iron-Daemon Forge
Though I would show some recent hobby Here the second Siege Dreadnought I got back in December, while I was that Warhammer World last month. Since this photo was taken, the model now been undercoated & has the metallic phase done. Aim spend tomorrow painting the Siege Dreadnought. Again, adding a Iron Warrior Battle Brother on the base to help remind me that the Siege Dreadnought has a Melta. Beside his brother Siege Dreadnought. Here the Warpsmith. It been a while, but he finish. I bought the Warpsmith model to use parts on a conversion. Felt it was shame that the rest of the kit sat there doing nothing. So gather together some parts like the Mechanicus HQ (axe) & few other part. Just wanted to get this Warpsmith built. With codex Daemons been release & my Iron Warriors been able to use Daemon thank to the new codex. It time I go back to the models I started building & painting during last year. Bloodletter - This originally aim was for 80 of these models, but I've only gotten to 60. They where painted following the way the Warhammer World team did there for the Chaos vs Ultramarine display. Just any other time I've painted a Bloodletter different, it didn't quite look right to me. A key part of painting them is using the Mephiston red spray rather than the pot of paint. This was the first Bloodthister I bought. The manger of my local store give me & two other a hobby challenge each for these models. Mine was to get him painted with in the week. Then we had all of our on display in the store. I follow Duncan painting guide over on the Warhammer TV. Then going on to add some my own, like adding gloss varnish to the wings o make them stand out a bit more. I ended up getting a second Bloodthister in September in 2016? It was just for something to paint during my holidays. I'm aim on getting the codex tomorrow if possible. I've got a few idea. For one of the Heralds, I'd like to try model something like the Slaughtermaster from the Storm of Iron & Dead Sky Black Sun novel. This was Iron Warrior armour possessed by a Daemon & a Imperial Guard. Quote Slaughtermaster - The Slaughterman (original name unknown) is a gigantic Iron Warrior and the conductor of the infernal Daemon Engine known as the Omphalos Daemonium. Towering even for a Space Marine, the Slaughterman carries a long, iron-hafted billhook. He wears an iron-helm from which two burning yellow eyes are visible. A conglomeration of iron, daemon, and Chaos Space Marine, the Slaughterman captures souls for the Omphalos Daemonium and brings them to the slave-forges of the Iron Warriors homeworld of Medrengard. Possessed and entirely under the control of the Omphalos Daemonium whose mission he faithfully carries out, the Slaughterman is more then a match for even seasoned Space Marines like Uriel Ventris, dispatching the Ultramarine easily This way it will allow my Daemons to fit the narrative of my Iron Warriors & also tie in with my World Eater (new Berzerker models permitting). Also got the Warhammer World only Chaos coin's Lord Abaia, Nekro83 and Khornestar 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/296724-iron-within-iron-without-an-iron-warriors-community/page/56/#findComment-4984952 Share on other sites

Or are you going to add a Death Guard detachment to your Iron Warrior army? That second one. My IW army is an amalgam of several forces, manipulated by the Thousand Sons. In small groups, they will be Plague marines with the IW keyword. If they ever take to the field en masse, they will be using death guard rules. Really, I just bought the models as I like it!
