no problem. :) -
This...is totally going in my "to make" list. That looks better than any of the individual models used to make it. It literally looks like a kit unto itself. SOLD!

I used a large piece of left over plastic card (1cm) for the crushed over wall piece and a piece of citadel movement tray(i think that's what it is.) for the tiles. I stuck the genestealers in one at a time after cutting off there legs. Then i took a crap load of sawdust and mixed it with glue and pushed it in under the downed wall. I would not recommend this last step. I was screwing around and experimenting with different materials. It took forever to dry and now it sucks up paint like no tomorrow. Use a different filler and save your self a lot of headache. I ended up covering up most of it with some railroad gravel i picked up at a crafts shop. The green grass between the tiles is secret weapon ash but i painted over it with some green because I'm out of green flocking. As for the colors, the tiles are astronomicon grey worked up to white, the shading around the feet is done with a Vallejo brown rush wash(for light color models.) The cracks i did freehand with a alcohol based felt tip pen. drawing something like that with a brush is a nightmare, don't even try it unless your a golden daemon winner, just use a felt tip pen. also have a resource pic to look at so you can make it look more natural. smaller cracks and then move out with bigger cracks followed by a few cracks trailing off in different directions. I went heavy on them because well..its a freaking knight and its uber heavy and i wanted the wall to look like it was crushing the genestealers and almost at the point where the foot crash's through it. (stomp attack!) a space marine would not leave that much of a footprint. I'm not a "crack" expert, I just thought it would look cool. The genestealers are painted teal, dry brushed up to white and then I gave them a Vallejo dark Persian blue "wash"(this color is freaking gold in a bottle when trying to paint blues. If you don't have it, get it), and then a wash of the same mixed with a tiny bit of Vallejo black primer. claws you can do with any simple three stage bone highlight out there. It all basically looks the same. i didn't even look, just grabbed some browns and worked up to a white. The blood is straight up Blood for the Blood GOD! technical paint. the reinforcement bars are bronze(any will honesty do) and then washed with some turquoise paint. and rub off most of the wash on the top with my thumb. 3 steps and done. literally takes 5 minutes tops Its all going to get a varnish tomorrow so that i can get some paint in under that wall and not have it get soaked up and then dry brush the hell out of it. Hope that helps. I put a solid days work of painting it, at least 8 hours,An airbrush really helps on the wall section and tile to get it nice and even with no streaks. I was screwing around a lot so may take you less time to do the same thing but if you go big like this, expect to stay at home for a while to paint it and do it up nicely. Hope that helps. -

Update: I tried doing chrome and did a rather nice job of it but I didn't like it at all. So i went back to a steely/platinum blue I have no pictures of that right now. Most my work was on the base today. lots of hours put into this thing. I love it, it looks better than in the pictures. My phone camera is not the best. Its not completely finished but i would say its 99% done. The knee cap plates are a little too pink, i'll go back in and do some shading with the airbrush. Also i did a bit of dry fitting for some of the plates and I super glued the legs back onto the base. Pictures of which follow: should have more up in a tomorrow or the day after. I'm really trying to crank this guy out in record time. -

Except that doesn't check out. With a 5 man squad, at 3 casualties, you have a 1/36 chance of losing 1 more dude. (Only on a 6 with a reroll) If you lose 4, you have a 1/9ish chance to lose 1 or 2 guys. If you high roll, you lose a squad, but still only 1/36. If you lose 5, you don't worry about morale, squad is dead. In a 10 man squad however, you lose 5, and you have a 1/4 chance of losing more dudes Ok, just for giggle. I used an online dice roller to add in the "luck factor" 5 mane squad taking 3 casualties: rolled 20 times taking into the re-roll they get for failed tests. 10 x rolls: 7 fails "without" the re-roll, 5 fail with the re-roll. squad dead or down to the last man. 10x rolls: 3 fails "without" the re-roll, 0 fail with the re-roll. squad is just fine. That being rolled with have 1 or the 2 remaining marines still the sergeant. If he is lost the odds are a bit higher. Your fractions are sound and probably on the mark, unfortunately D6 dice luck doesn't care. The pendulum swings both ways. If it was a D20 or a D100 game i would probably bet on your odds, in a D6 game I would not, the pass/fail distinction is too tight. I didn't bother with 4 casualties because the squad is effectively combat ineffective and can be finished off after or ignored. (Or will he? again dice luck) The days of trying to min max like this are over i'm afraid and i can't honestly say i will miss them myself. Horde armies are going to have their turn this edition. The days of min/maxed unites like this one just as an example are gone. GW did this on purpose to increase sales and to bring back the game for new players to actually get into and not get stomped flat by stuff like this as in previous editions. There will be new meta builds I'm sure, but a 10 man squad is still better(and cheaper if your using power points), it can be split into 2 5 man squads if you really really feel the need to take smaller squads. I know all the above may come off sounding very argumentative, it is not meant to be so, I do not "argue" anything here on the B&C, read it and imagine Morgan Freeman saying it. that always helps. In the end everyone has their own opinions.

Primaris are fixed pose models - does that matter to you?

This is basically what i was thinking in a nutshell, he worded it much better. lol only thing is for any truescale marines I would still not use them because i don't like the mk10 armor except for the helmets. -

The only problem with that is if i seen what you where bringing i wouldn't even play you. In a tournament maybe i would but casual gaming not a chance. That's not fun.

Going with Bright Steal/Platinum. I got to paint up an iron warriors squad anyways, this way I get two birds with 1 stone. -

depends on luck, you can't trust on average, i just rolled and killed one with 3 lascannons. Thats a dev squad in 1 turn possibly turn 1 rhino kill. likely? no. possible? very much so. I'm not trying to argue or anything, i'm just saying its a little more likely than average. I rolled a few more times and it seems even with smoke launchers and in cover the average is actually about 7 lascannons. minimum it took was 3 most it took was 10. that an average of what? 6.5? Granted that is a god load of lascannons. but if you want something dropped with them from what i rolled(and some of them roles where really good and really bad) it takes 6.5 on average. Not trying to argue, just saying that is what my results where. I would save the lascannons for my tanks and vehicles where you can get more bang for your buck, Like a predator or Landraider.
-
i would be worried about failing moral checks. sure you get the reroll but that can only do so much. I think full man squads are the way to go just for the extra wounds and just in case you role bad on a moral check. But that's my two cents.

The eyes are going to be icy blue like the reactor BUT..... I'm a bit stuck on something, the trim of the armor plates. Most the model is already steal metal and I was going to go with a bronze/gold gilded trim...but i'm worried it may mute down the yellows or just look silly. What do you guys think? Gold Bronze dark steal bright steal Platinum? C&C/ advice/ warm suggestions/demands welcome. -

for now, i don't even like the rules for them, they are buffed only slightly more than a standard marine with none of the flexability of modeling or equipment options. For me that equals a hard "no." If they come out with something different and more actual game options then i may reconsider then. Right now, they are just bigger boring marines.
