One of my favorite threads I've ever read on the B&C, and one of the main reasons I got into the hobby was @Kierdale's thread for his psychopomps. I've similarly enjoyed @WarriorFish's Sundered and what I've seen of @Tallarn Commander's Warpborn. I'm also looking forward to reading about @Slave to Darkness's Khornate Word Bearers warband. I like reading about you guys' custom warbands and I'm going to channel that energy into my own hobby blog. The warband is still a WIP. I have yet to settle on a name that I really enjoy. But I do have some solid themes I want to incorporate and a paint scheme. I mocked up this digital test model with the app impcat. I think I am partial to the one with the black boots. I've also done up a test shoulder pad to see how the colors actually look in real life. I used the new Mantis Warrior Green contrast paint and then a conventional blue black for the trim. I'm going to have to come up with a method for touching up the green, otherwise I'm going to take some years off my life stressing out about painting so much black trim next to my beautiful, bright acid green. I'm choosing a leviathan's cross for the symbol for a couple of reasons. It invokes imagery of the occult It is connected to alchemy where it is a symbol for brimstone (sulfur) It looks cool Its simple enough to freehand that I don't need to mess around with transfers.

Well OK where to start, some of you might know me from my skulking about around the DA forums with my Red Dark Angels Successors I know Wraithwing from here mainly but a quirk of fate we got to talking outside of here by pure chance (Its not Tzeentch honest). As we talked we both get to talking about our love for the Crimson Fists, I floated the idea of us doing a slow burn project on the side of our other stuff, me with my Ultramarines 3rd Company and Wraithwing with his awesome Novamarines and Wolves. So what to expect from us? Our hope is at least a Unit a month this can be anything from the Space Marines Codex. My plan is for the 3rd Company. My January pledge will be the remaining 4 guys for a 5 man Intercessor Squad to go with the Guy below. Need to get some transfers and tex paint. Now over to my Brother in this journey @Wraithwing

Now that ETL's finally got me to bite the bullet when it comes to painting, I thought I'd keep a log of the Imperial Fists company I've been planning out for a couple of years now. The Imperial Fists were my first entry into the HH, following my first read-through of Mechanicum, where I loved the absolute pragmatism of Sigismund and Camba-Diaz as they bravely flew into the embrace of Mars just long enough to do an Italian Job on the Mk IV armours they'd been sent for. Everything kind of died down for me hobbywise for a few years, until I decided to look at the Fists again, which combined with reading through the section on them in Extermination, made me decide to look at a group which had been one of the detachments most prominent in the battle of Roma, and had kept up many of the old traditions. That waned a little bit, and I had to shelve the original idea for a grey colour scheme with yellow sections in favour of the more traditional scheme. First up is the Deredeo I'm painting for ETL. From the original undercoat of Corax White it's had a basecoat of Averland Sunset and then been airbrushed with Flash Gitz yellow. This was my first attempt ever at airbrushing, so no doubt it shows. I will admit to being a little stumped as to how to break up the yellow in sections, I've tried Abbadon Black on a terminator but it doesn't seem to fit to me. Any suggestions would be most welcome!

ALL BLACK ✵ EVERYTHING BLACK Welcome to the latest Incarnation of Malisteen's Black Legion hobby thread! Earlier incarnations can be found here: Black Like My Soul Back In Black You can also find a few extra pictures on my 40k sideblog on tumblr: Minisception "But Malisteen," I hear you asking, "if you already have two threads, why are you starting another?" Well, partially because old threads include models I no longer own due to losing, breaking, or foolishly selling them away, and partially because they're not very well set up to continue after a long hiatus. Honestly, it's become sort of a habit to me to start a new thread when the motivation strikes, and then when it fades go quiet for a couple years, only to start a new thread when the motivation strikes again. But while I'm playing out that habit again, I'd kind of like to make this thread the last one, so I'm trying to set this one up so that I can just update the first post or two with the current state of things after my next inevitable hiatus, then link to the post where I pick up again. We'll see how that goes. The first few posts of this thread are dedicated to an up to date inventory of models that I have at least assembled, as I work on anything I'll update the inventory posts with current pictures. And next time I take a nine month break from the hobby and come back, I should hopefully be able to pick up this thread where I left off and put a link in this first post to the specific post I'm starting from. Least, that's the plan. I also eventually plan to replace this first post with fluff & general army concept, replace some of the generic names in the inventory with specific names, past in some fluff to go with the pictures etc, but that will have to wait until I have time to revise and re-work my old fluff.
