Uriel Ventris, Captain of the Ultramarines 4th Company
Domhnall posted a blog entry in Domhnall's hobby goodness
Here is my recently finished figure of Uriel Ventris that I painted because it was March (for Maccragge!). All painted within one month, which is good for me. Painted pretty much following the GW app colours, so nothing really special there. I decided on making the floor shiny, so attempted a bit of 'relection' of the blue armour on it, which works well enough for what I wanted (Golden Daemon winners need not worry!). The Power sword has some zappy sparks running up it, with a vague attempt making the blade shiny. Other than that, it's a basic paint job for the time I had. Also, the eyes... yeah still need improving as I usually avoid them if at all possible but thought I'd better here. The whole model look better in hand (as I'm sure most people's does), but I need work on my camera skills as there is too much 'contrast' showing between layers which is common on my photos. Not that I'm claiming I've got the creamiest of blends, but they're smoother than the 16 bit highlights my photos show! Anyway, I'm happy with the way the model came out in the end, so please feast your eyes upon my wonderous Miniature while I decide what is next on the list!-

OK after so much chopping and changing and being too damn indecisive I am going to do the Ultramarines 4th Company. It will be all Primaris (So i will be taking a few liberties) Uriel will be based on the Brithday Captain (Power Sword and Rifle) Pasanius and Learchus will be based on a Aggressor (Pasanius is a big boy after all) and Conquest Lt I did some test models with red bolters which I will not be doing back to black I think Ishagu did a nice mark with his 2nd Company with the face grill being gold I have stolen the idea but not doing them gold as I am not sure it will work for the 4th. I did think of metallic green for the trims and face grills but I decided against it as I thought it would be too much So here is the current WIP of the Serg So I will be doing the face grills green for them all just to add a little more character like Ishagu did.

Hi Folks, After a bit of a 40K hiatus, I finally caved and picked up the Indomitus box. While I would have loved to add these units to my Novamarines, I couldn't face painting any more units in those colours, primarily because it takes so long for me to complete a squad. Instead, I decided to stick with the Codex theme, and paint a new Ultramarines force. I've always had a soft spot for the Ultramarines, so thought this project will give me a chance to play around with all those fun codex themes that my previous armies never had, such as company colours, veterans, honour markings etc. Below is my first squad, which was done as a 'test' squad to see if I can get the scheme down quick. Quite pleased with how it has turned out: Ended up using Macragge Blue spray, and then a all over shade of Drakenhoff, followed by a Calgar Blue drybrush, and Etherium Blue drybrush and then an all over glaze of Guilliman Blue mixed with a few drops of Lahmium Medium. All in all only took me a few hours (over a couple of days) to paint the squad, which is a massive improvement over my Novamarines, which took months in some cases (mainly due to motivation!). Up next are some Assault Intercessors from Indomitus, and then I am making plans for a Primaris Uriel Ventris conversion. C&C, as always, is appreciated. Cheers, WW
