Vadskær
Good evening all, Since it's December, I bring you a little something that is a result of having a squad of Black Templars and not really wanting to paint them as Black Templars. Hence, I've adopted the colour scheme of the Angels of Redemption successor chapter to the Dark Angels. This DIY chapter uses templar iconography which really ties in well with the monastic feel of the DA and all it's sucessors. He's not put on a finished base yet, as I still don't know what kind of base him and his other 9 squad mates (still to be painted) should have. I'm currently browsing Hasselfree, but if anyone has links to other basing sites then please let me know (I already know of Microart and, of course, Scibor) Alright, C&C welcome as always, and I hope you enjoy him! He was fun to paint, and I did some some sharper, brighter highlights than usual, especially on the green side, and on the red icons. /vadskær :)

Pulse
Vadskær - The Angels of Redemption scheme is very well painted, and with the templar icons, seems to go well! Also liking the layout of your 'little' fort.
Vadskær
Vadskær - The Angels of Redemption scheme is very well painted, and with the templar icons, seems to go well! Also liking the layout of your 'little' fort. ;) Hi Pulse, Thanks for dropping by, and thanks for your comments :D This weekend I managed to finish the 3rd member of my Sternguard Squad, and I think he turned out quite nicely! There's a flaw in the sculpt on the top of the helmet which I didn't dare try to correct, so I just ignored it and imagine that he's bumped heads with a particular thick-headed ork before eviscerating him with bolter-fire. The backpack is from the DA Veteran box - otherwise he's straight out of the box. Nice, simple and clean. Regards, Vadskær
Pulse
I hate metal models that don't cast properly, your lucky though as yours is fairly small, and can gives him a look battle damage as you said! :D He is well painted as always, very nice indeed! :D
sword brethren
yet another wonderful model! good use of the DA back pack aswell!

Starblayde
Very, very good. A simple and clean look to them while being brilliantly executed.
MrZombie
Hi Vadskær. I've been following your thread for quite some time now and i must comment on your work. Really awesome paint jobs. That standard bearer, especially the standard itself made my jaw drop =). Every time you post a new miniature i get all inspired and continue work on my own angels (the blood kind) Painted quite a few more models this way =) Keep up the good work PS: Good luck with that fortress. i had no idea it was that huge. Cheers
Vadskær
@ Pulse: Yeah, me too! Plastic you can easily mend somewhat, or change the bit entirely. But a solid metal cast like these Sternguards really put up a challenge to modify with safety. @ sword brethren: Hey, good to hear from you again! I found the DA backpack whilst looking for something suitable in my bits boxes. And since he doens't have a lot of DA iconography besides the colours, I thought a themed backpack would do the trick. @ Terminatorinhell: Trick to the gold effects is, besides proper shading in the recesses, thin layers of 1:1 Shining Gold and Mithril Silver + hit the edges with pure Mithril silver. The skulls on the backpack got a couple of glazes of the pre-mentioned mix. Since the silver comes out so heavily I didn't need to be heavy handed in the application. @ Starblayde: Thanks - a clean and simple look is how I prefer my marines. The dirty ones are my IG footsloggers ;) @ MrZombie: I'm glad I can inspire you to further work. I myself am inspired by your guys comments. It's nice to know someone else also values your work. Thanks to all of you for your praise and comments - they are highly valued ;) /vadskær

AdeptusDavidus
My only complaint about the Sternguard is that I think you should've incorporated the casting flaw as battle damage. A few flicks of a highlight and shadow, maybe a tiny spot of Chainmail, and it would look like it was supposed to be there.
Vadskær
@ pattison: Thanks a lot mate - but who hides behind the avatar? Sound like you know me :) @ AdeptusDavidus: You are right - that's something I'll have to remedy! Also, his pose could indicate that he's quite pissed by having his new, pristine helmet scratched by some stupid Ork with a slugga B) I'm off on holiday soon - yay - and that will mean a golden opportunity to finish some models. I'm working on a little diorama now, where I'm doing something that I never tried before. I hope to show this to you no later than Wednesday. /vadskær
Cloud Runner
Have you received the Templar Knight yet? Can you post pics of the components as well please, as I'm considering getting one and would like to see what's in there and what could be done with it. Thanks,

I mailed the seller and he shipped it about 3-4 days ago. So I don't think it will arrive before Christmas :) Once I get it you'll get plenty of pictures though! Vadskær
Hello all and Merry Christmas to both Loyalists and Heretic scum everywhere :P First of all, thanks for the comment Shadow Captain Corveus - always nice to know that the Emperors psyche can reach all the way to tiny Denmark ;) Alright, here's something new since it's almost Christmas. I'm at my parents, doing nothing else than eat Moms vanilla cookies, exercise and paint all day long (= paradise). So I managed to finish a little diorama that I've been working on these past couple of weeks. I present to you: Blaze of Glory. A hard close combat fight between a Dark Angel and a Khorne Berserker, who's charging over the rampart of the trench, bringing his massive chainsword to bear on the already wounded Loyalist. The Khorne paint scheme was a challenge to paint - not so much the individual colours, but balancing them all to get a nice, coherent look. I didn't want to go all-red, but rather adopted a semi Black Legion/Khorne look which I think looks nice. The Dark Angel is from the GW set with three Space marine casualties. I miss some more detail on the model - ie. a chesteagle or something, so instead I choose to paint the chapter symbol on both his lower right leg and his left shoulder pad. In this way he's not all green. I opted not to paint blood since 1. it's just a fleshwound and 2. Dark Angels don't bleed....period! The base is resin and purchased through a nice internet-store. I can't remember the exact one, but if someone craves the knowledge I'll try to dig it up. Anyway, enjoy the pictures and drop a comment or two. /vadskær

Retributis
There's something about the berzerker... I can't quite place it but it seems to lack a bit of energy or "punch" to it...
SamaNagol
This is why people should focus on learning to paint NEATLY before they try and do all kinds of crazy techniques they read about on CMON. A clean tidy model with a well thought out colour pallette looks better than a poor man's Rackham knock off.
Vadskær
Hey guys - thanks for the comments :D Glad to know you also like this little diorama. I will post pictures with my regular camera once I'm back home. I used my dad's camera, and it's more or less the same, but I had crappy lighting. So therefore I had to tweak the pictures a bit in Iphoto. I look forward to taking som pics with my regular light source. @Retributis: Yeah....I know what you mean....said punch will be delivered by our hero's boltgun snapping a round or two of in his head. That ought to improve his looks tenfold B) /vadskær
cathar the great
There's something about the berzerker... I can't quite place it but it seems to lack a bit of energy or "punch" to it... That's probably the horrible Zerker arms. It's impossible to achieve a dynamic pose without cutting them apart. Very nice diorama nonetheless, Vaedskaer! I like the colors on the Zerker a lot. The base is also great. Not too dull but painted so it does not steal the attention from the minis.
Solid Zaku
Don't be off-put by the first picture, as it really shows off what a bland sculpt the zerkers are. The 2nd picture (blurred DA, focused zerk) is made of win, as the zerker's face is almost scary. I mean actually scary. Yes, in concept it's terrifying, but it is just a 35th scale model, but that shot, combined with some fine paint work, makes it actually something you don't care to look at for too long, but in a good way. Gv0zD
As always -- awesome! :D The next second the Dark Angel's bolt penetrates Zerker's armor and he's thrown away with a big hole in his stomach :D
