Rider's WiP thread - Deredeo

So tonight I spent way too long doing two of these to have lots of nice detail etc, then popped them into place to discover most of my 3 hours work has gone and disappears behind other lumps of plastic.... Oh well....

I'm back!

Possibly briefly until I get some non-30/40k stuff done and dusted.

@rider - yes where did you get them? Really like your wolves is there a group shot somewhere herein?

Nevermind I quit the mobile version and now I can see all the links to your hall of honor, next question, probably already answered, what colour are you using on your wolves there?

Thank you for your feedback. Always nice to get positive vibes :) There's only the Wolves transports so they may go back a couple of pages. On mobile myself so not easy.... As for the painting recipe, I kept the grey simple:

1) Black undercoat

2) Airbrush The Fang

3) Airbrush Russ Grey

4) Shade the panel lines using Agrax Earthshade

5) Tidy up by brush any overspill with Russ Grey

6) Edge highlight with Fenresian Grey

It was all weathered down with sponging layered of dark brown, then black, the leadbelcher before dusting with some Tamiya weather powders.

Well it's been a while, but gutting the living room, replacing the fire and boiler and then redecorating has taken it's toll on hobbytime availability. Had time to play other stuff, just no time for painting and modelling....

Anyway, started work on this bad boy. He'll gain fluff like everyone else at some point.

Thought i'd go a bit epic on the stance and base, try and give a sense of bracing against the massive recoil of the autocannon battery.

Base. The aim was to try and find some battle field debris that was about the right height to raise the foot and leg to fully bend the knee and allow a slight angle to the hips. Turns out a slightly hacked up twin lascannon sponson did the job. Then added a few more bits of detritus, a bit of pen casing piping and mixed ballast for texture. And yes, Will, the mould lines on the lascannon bits have been cleaned up......

Cleaning in ye olde soapy water, followed by a tidy up of components and then onto assembly. The built of the lower half was a bit of the pain, trying to get the legs, hips, knees and ankles all into the right position.

The upper half was much more straight forward, with everything going together pretty well. the right ammo hopper interfered with the right hip armour very slightly, but a little creative knifework made an easy fit that you'd never known there was an issue. Then it came to the ammo feeds.....

These were a pain, the right one especially as the right leg now got in the way of the original belt loop path. Much hot water and hairdryer blasting was required, initially to straighten a chunk of the right feed and then the reshaping of both. It worked fairly well - there's still a small gap that needs filling with some GS, but nothing that should prove noticeable on the final paint job. And thanks to Doug Todd via my Heresy Trading Facebook group, the Deredeo also has his Launcher system as well.
