Brilliant work here! Extensive use of the upgrade box for your champion I see :) Very nicely painted though. The terminators are fantastic! Using the pauldrons for knee pads is effective and the converted weapons are very Teutonic. As a fellow Templar I salute you! (You make me a touch embarrassed of my own Sword Brethren actually)

Quick progress update.

Basic assembly on the sword brethren assualt terminators is done. Maxmini should (finally...) be getting out the shoulder pads to me by monday.

once they come in i'll do a final clean up to smooth things of,remove mould lines, any extra GS work, etc. will probably add more fancyness to the shoulder pads once there on - thinking i can fit some censors (from the DA kit) and lanterns (from the BT kit) on them, as well as assorted crusader and purity seals.

enough rambling.....

the shoulder pads are here!!

so this is them fitted. done some tidying up too. also swapped a thunderhammer for an elongated sword - it will be a special company relic called the "Sword of Thunder" (ie: it'll be a counts thunderhammer....)

just a final tidy to go then onto undercoating. hopefully get started friday/saturday night with the painting.

started having a bash at true/art/actual scaling some marines too.

the thought is to do Sigismund and his command group and/or officers, immediately after the 2nd founding and the formation of the black templars.

Some progress...

Brought the colour up to blood red over several stages.

Mechrite worked up to scab then worked up to blood red.

http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l8/rider_in_black/dark%20materials%20miniatures/blood%20angel/0BA7F5B0-DCB1-456C-9860-5E981C2BAACA-3398-000004CE5A1D7A8C.jpg

Next stage is to wash it down with Baal red to smooth out the transitions and redden it up.

Once that's dried it'll be some edge highlights with blood red, followed by a slightly orangeier edge at the lightest points.

That'll be followed by the metals.

I'm still torn between:

1) old skool black shoulder trim and yellow chest eagle

2) new skool red shoulder trim and black eagle

3) somewhere between with black trim and black chest eagle

Decisions, decisions.....

A quick bit of work on one of the Grey Knights tonight as a test bed for colours, etc.

I'm not 100% sold on the red storm Bolter casing, and may revert to black.

Really liking the red stormbolter brother, provides a nice contrast. Im not too sure about the Templar Termis with the shoulder pads on their knees though. I also like the red you have achieved on the Blood Angel and kudos for going with the older colour scheme, looks fantastic.

Thanks biohazard.

The Templar termies have had a little work on the legs, but other than that haven't been touched since this posts TWO YEARS AGO...... Embarrassing really.... I'm hoping if/when I get around to it they look better painted.

Im Still not sold on the red SB though. I'll leave it til finished though and see how it sits.

Finished up the rest if the Gk and the red stands up with the other colours on so I'll be leaving it that way. Problem is getting the blue glowing nonmetallic metal to work on the force blade....

Anyway, here he is nearly finished, without the blade done.

And last night saw me build the very funky contemptor dreadnaught.

This traitor scum is only half the Astartes he used to be after meeting Brother-Contemptor Argentius:

The Kheres cannon was a bit of a nuisance, though it looks very cool. The bottom barrel is still very slightly warped.

And here he is assembled in all his pointy finger glory. I love the poseablilty in this kit!

Once the cannon is on the model you cant see the bottom barrel and to be fair its not really that noticeable wen its not on the model. The Contemptor is looking good buddy. The dead astartes must have been a pain to cut?

Grey Knight done:

Though I now face a tough choice....

The Contemptor will grace the Ultramarines Legion around the time of the Heresy. I'm wondering on what Traitor Legion to do the crushed marine. I'm thinking the grey and crimson of a mid heresy Word Bearer around the time of the Assualt on Calth.

Thoughts?

Some progress on the contemptor tonight, he got his undercoat at the weekend.

Worked the base up with a little more detail with a bit if ruined wall and some battlefield debris.

Got some boltgun metal down on the, Erm, metal areas as a base coat.

Little progress on the Contemptor. Washed the metal down with badab black and base coated the blue armour with mordian blue darkened with a little chaos black.

The Contemptor is looking good so far Rider. I would suggest Red for the Word Bearer on the base as I think that they changed their colors for the most part by Calth. I like the look of the metal on the Grey Knight as well can you give us a break down of the colors you used on him?

there was two stages to this colour of silver.

I got 10 of these terminators them from Pig of Sparta - they came based with army painter chainmail, light wash with heavily thinned asurmen blue and badab black

this was looking a little too pale for my image of the grey knights, so I had to think of a way to darken them down.

so the steps went through were:

* gave them a heavy wash of badab black

* drybrush with boltgun metal, then increasingly light drybrushes working up to almost mithril silver.

* few edge line highlights of mithril silver

* carefully applied some slightly thinned asurmen blue to some selected areas.

Work continues slowly.....

Couple of layers of blue, followed by Asurmen wash.
