Yeah, I had been trying to come up with a way to blend them in more.

Ah well, plans are afoot for the mk1f rhino, so I'll see what I can come up with for that one msn-wink.gif

I did a similar conversion some years ago.

This is how I did it, not very neat, but convincing enough, at least for me smile.png I hope you don't mind me posting a pic here.

I don't mind at all, Batu - in fact quite the opposite! If anyone else has stuff that they think might be useful, inspirational, or even just vaguely relevant, post away! I love looking at other people's work and ways find it useful to see what other folk come up with.

I like your idea for the exhausts - simple and effective..... So much so I over looked it as a way of doing things - d'oh!

The next one I think will probably be a mk1d now, I think. I'm planning to remove the entire exhaust and panel over the side with plasticard before redetailing. Probably even more work, but ah well, it's all fun and games ;)

So my FW stuff arrived and i was like a kid in a candy shop opening that box :D

Got half way through cleaning it all up then got distracted by this beastie!

No bother at all really. Fitting the tracks was the most arduous, but not difficult. Dry fitting the track sections and cleaning them up and filing the back of the wheels as I went along meant it was time consuming but straight forward.

The hull assembly was simple as the bits all interlock or overlap giving plenty of contact points for the super glue to bite.

There are a few gaps on on side between the hull and the track unit and the back wall/ engine block and the track units. Easy fix with a little bit of GS and some LGS.

The lascannons and the ram were slightly warped but easily fixed by softening under the hot tap.

Worst bit really was getting the tracks to be the right length as they are actually a shade too long - again a little bit of creative filing and some forward planning suing clean up made it not too big an obstacle.

Finally finished the last 3 members of tactical squad 1.

Took forever due to the totally UNsuper glue taking an age to grab...

I've got these and a Rhino to paint in about 9 nights....

The Praetor style helms are Maxmini Steam Knight heads

The grill faced open helm is an Anvil industry's Steam Lord Bionic veteran head

The crested Mk4 is a forgeworld - although I have a bunch of Anvil's lateral crests for other officers helmets.

Lol - no worries. I wish my sculpting was good enough to get away with actually doing those myself. Alas no such joy :(

But there are a few choice parts out there from 3rd party sculptors. I struggle to like much of it, but then these odd little gems crop up.

recent stuff what has been going on....

first up, the rhino has a bit of paint:

I'm swithering over colours for the side and top hatches :(  I'm avoiding tac arrows I think in order to keep the rhino multi-purpose.

Next up is a very very work in progress project for my Chapter Master Arvael Leonid, The Lion Of Macragge. Don't expect to see many updates on him, he's going to be a real learning curve as I need to learn to actually sculpt fur.....

Thanks Deus Ruinus. It should trot along nicely as I've signed up to do the local GWs army builder project thingy. Basically the equivalent of £50 worth of stuff a month. The contemptor was lot number 1, a legion tac squad and rhino number 2, and probably the same again for number 3.

In the meantime.....

Couple of bits from tonight's work.

First pic is playing around with the torso/chest of Contemptor No.2 - Hence forth known as Honourable Invictus.

And another Veteran Sergeant joins the ranks. I've been soooo itching to get my hands on the bits for this, it's been in my head for so long. Finally it's realised :)

I like the way it turned out if I say so myself. There's a little bit of GS needed here and there, but nothing drastic. I particularly like the way the windswept hair and the billow of the cloak follow the same lines - subtle, but it adds to the feel of the models pose.

Thanks Ludovic :)

Here's a Small progress report:

I'm pushing it or time now - I need these finished by end of Friday night and I've only got 3 lunch breaks and am out tomorrow night for my works leaving do..... The pressure is on!!
