I like the way it turned out if I say so myself. There's a little bit of GS needed here and there, but nothing drastic. I particularly like the way the windswept hair and the billow of the cloak follow the same lines - subtle, but it adds to the feel of the models pose.

Damn you, I MUST know how you built that Sergeant.

Ask and ye shall receive!

 

Body/base is the FW Legion Champion

Mk2/3 backpack

Plastic marine left arm with hand removed

Left Hand from the FW mk4 Assualt arms

FW bolt pistol (forget the type)

Right arm and cloak is from the FW Legion standard bearer

Pteruge (loincloth) is from Anvil Industry - hacked off the standard one on the body with clippers, trimmed with knife and filed. Still needs a little GS to blend it in.

Head is from Anvil Industry's bare head sprue.

Looks like the body is from the mk IV forgeworld command set with the chest iconography filed off and replaced with a brass etch ultramarines symbol.  Backpack is another forgeworld piece.  I can't tell you where the pistol or head are from.  I can't place the base rubble either, but dang is it sexy.

Finished. My LPC vow is complete. Somewhere along the way he's lost his lantern......i didn't even notice until i came to post up tonight. huh.gif

Pics aren't as good as my wife is off on hols with the new camera, leaving me with the old one.

I think this is honestly one of the coolest models I have ever seen. Awesome work man.

Thanks, Cap! Though he has long since gone to the great eBay in the sky ;) hopefully his new owner has taken care of him.

 

Chaplain: yeah, the torso had the UM brass etch added. The rest of the parts are listed 2 posts above yours :P

Decided to magnetise the pintle mount heavy weapons on the Land Raider Phobos (which translates as "avoiding doing the greenstuff work on the seams" lol)

 

1: Holes drilled in the bottom if the weapon to accept the magnet. I used some paint to allow me to mark on the hull where the hole needed to go on there to make sure that the magnets lined up.

2: Here you can see the hull magnet. Tricky thing was trying to ensure the magnets were correctly orientated to attract instead of repel. The little buggers are so strong that even putting anything vaguely ferrous near them makes them twitchy!!

And continuing.... The basic blue is highlighted up and washed down. After detailing I'll go back and finalise the highlights with a few line highlights.

Help!

 

Decision time...

 

In your various esteemed opinions, how much of the edging on the Cataphractii should be done in Gold, and how much in a Dark Iron?

Looks like I must be slacking!!

 

So here's an update of a current WiP. It's a monthly challenge on one if he FB groups, where if we wish to participate we all do the same single frame plastic hero. I've chosen to convert this one to add to the ranks of the Ultramarines.

 

Can you tell the base model?
