Indeed it is - though in future remind me to look at the base model BEFORE I decide to do a conversion!

 

There's a heck of a lot of work done, and a heck of a lot of reworking still to do.

 

The left greave in particular is a challenge - the leering face has been cut away leaving green stuff work to rebuild the shape of the plate and the trim.

 

The head is moulded as part of the body, but it came away easily with lots of small shavings and filing.

 

The fleshy tubes that run from under the back pack to the chest had to be cut away and some re shaping of the torso done to fix that. Most of the damage from around the waist that that left can be covered by adding packs, grenades etc in strategic points.

 

The mk5 chest plate had the belt and abdomen cable removed, and the champions waist was hacked up to allow it to fit. The champion is a bit wider (not to mention A LOT taller) than a standard marine so the shoulders/arm joint surfaces were then filed to meet properly.

 

Arms were fairly simple weapon and hand swaps and after taking the tentacle off the left arm a mk3 pad fitted simply.

 

Lots of other little bits were cleaned off and will require little bits of tidying and hiding as well.

 

Turned out to be more work that expected but it wouldn't be a challenge otherwise!

Great Emperor! Over a week since an update? Again? Simply not good enough, I must go chastise myself later.....

 

But first: an update on the chaos champion -> ultramarine conversion.

 

The build is finished which required rather a lot more work than anticipated, but heh ho.

First up a closer look at the left greave where the demon face was removed.

Repair work to the abdomen using greenstuff to build up a belt and buckle and guitar string cables.

The skull on the chain replaced by a brass Ultima. Another brass piece added over the belt buckle. Also he was far too big to look good on a normal 25mm base so I up sized to a 40mm.

After removing the fleshy tubes the rear torso needed re sculpting to smooth it out again. You can also see the use of bits and greenstuff to help meld the model together.

Thanks guys. 1kH - be warned - it was a total pain in the ass of a conversion job. But worth it!

 

There is sn update too. Not much of an update, but managed to get some paint onto the Cataphractii sgt. He's pretty much been a test be for a colour scheme - though I'm still not sure if helmet and pauldron colours for terminators in the XIII during the heresy. I'm inclined to stick with the white for vets. Helmet wise, having cut down the rebreather BA head to fit, I kinda avoided the red for sgt vs red for censure debate..... I'm guessing by the time the UMs have begun to fight back on Calth, after the grid has been sorted and comms restored, the red would have spread.... Or would it? Guilliman states that its ideal for while there's no comms, so how quickly would the practise of switching to red for sgt have spread do you think?

Well here I've hit a brick wall.....

 

So to break on through, what I'm looking for is someone to do a little bit of sculpting on commission. It should be a relatively simple and not overly time consuming job. I need someone who can do me a merger on the lion cloak - blending the lion head into a big lion skin cloak with the forelegs draped one in front and one behind the left chest/side of the model.

 

Anyone able to help, or know someone who could?

That's a great looking miniature right there.  Love your blues, and he looks impressively authentic and the posing just screams action and motion.

Bit of an edit on the Chapter Master / Praetor model.

 

Began to see the big lion head as being a bit OTT, so I've subbed it for the smaller shoulder pad version.

 

The plan is still to add a cloak.

I'll put this in here rather than start a new thread elsewhere...

 

Avoiding work yesterday, I knocked this up without knowing anything about what I was doing, using a cheapy video editor on the work PC. Used some of the pics of my stuff from here, plus some other images I had on file.

 

Don't judge too harshly.... As I say, never used video editing for anything along

The video is quite well done for a first-timer :tu: Of course, some things could be improved, such as quality of both picture and soundtrack, the cropping of certain pictures, etc... but all in all, I highly doubt that I could do a better job myself, so congrats for trying and managing to produce a nice piece of work :)
