Bit of an update...

Arvael is away to get his shiny new cloak :)

And I've started assembling tac squad 2. Got the sergeant and 6 marines built, but I thought I'd show you this one.

Trying to capture the sheer disbelief and confusion at Calth. Hopefully this conveys some of that.

And here they are.....

Legion Tactical Demi-squad Solus.

Slightly odd mix of armours, being 3x mkIII, 3x mkII, 1x mkIV, 1x mkII with a mkVII chest (but its hidden ;)), 1x mkII with a mkIIIhelmet and the sergeants Artificer mkIII.

I think, but don't quote me, that what I've set aside should be a 10 man Legion Support squad full armed with mkIII and wielding Volkite Calivers.

i love the dude staring at the shoulder pad, but why GK?

If you look carefully the sword has been removed to leave only the book. The pad will be a dark granite grey, with crimson edging and a burning book on golden colchisian writing..... ;)

But hadn't the Word Bearers switched to their crimson colours by then? :/

For the most part. Certainly in Know No Fear they are described in being in the new colours. But I chose a little bit of artistic license when I did the one on the contemptors base and went with a split of grey and red. It's a sort if half way house, almost as if they were in the progress of changing livery. The reason in reality was to not draw they eye too much from the main miniature.

For this pad the dark grey will be the underside anyway, with the edge in crimson. The actual pad face is covered in script anyway, which will be done in gold. So it'll be all good ;)

Quick update on the Ultras:

Tactical Support Squad with Calivers assembled, ready to lob some searing doom at the traitors....

And a bit of a side project, the Artscale Minotaur has some basic assembly done... Lots if tidying up still to do and accessories and stuff to add.

Heathen! Traitor! Betrayer!

Although I have to confess after seeing the upcoming word bearer stuff I'm really tempted to do an opposing force of them myself....

Started getting some paint on the Mino.

First couple of layers of metallics and a dev mud wash. Next up is some proper highlights, a bit of a glaze, and some coloured washes for lustre.

Bronze worked up on the head, torso, legs, pack and arms. I'm leaving the shield and shoulders til I can decide on a colour scheme....

The guy holding the word bearer shoulder pad catches disbelief shock and horror in a very touching way, the only way a betrayal by kin can. Perfectly captured! I commend you sir!

Small update:

The non-bronze areas have been black blocked ready for the next phase of project minotaur.  I think i'm going to take a slightly different approach this time to my usual and rather than working on one colour at a time. i'm going to focus on finishing up one area at a time.
