The yellow is done on the rest of the tac squad.
Starting to pick through the rest in batches.

First up, the sarge and a gooner.

And a little detail that's moulded into the resin base:

Only 13 to detail, and then the decals and weathering....

Beatiful model and good paintjob.

Did you consider a little of battle damage and weatheting? In order to make them a little less Walt Disney and more soldiers :-)

I have  a squad of 20 to do, so once they are all done i am going to weather them in one go. ;)

An update!

Although again it isn't either Fist or Ultra related....

Well, it is, sort of, UM linked as this fella is a UM member of the Deathwatch.

Nice to see you back among us Rider, what kept you so long?  The back pack and shoulder pads are an excellent choice for this mini.  The way you have him posed on the cork base looks tilted a little too much uphill I think.  What's going on with that terminator with lion pelt that Lorenzen was sculpting for you?

thanks Mikhail. just been busy between work and my grandfather's declining health and finally passing away this week hasn't helped.....

he's not quite as tilted as he look in that angle to be honest, odd photography.

the praetor is.... somewhere. i believe Lorenzen has finished him and he should be coming up with AridMonk after the weeknder in march.  so should hopefully see it in the flesh soon(ish).  last pics were rather awesome though :)

I'm very sorry for the loss of your Grandfather, I understand how such tragedy can sometimes make the hobby feel unfulfilling.

Perhaps he looks extra-tilted because there is no other reference point in the photo with him? It could also be my personal bias against large rocky bases as well.whistlingW.gif

I can't wait to see the finished sculpt of the Praetor with your excellent paint work on him. I love how you guys in the UK throw around the "weekender" so casually. Here in the states we would kill to have one locally or even on our continent. Maybe you could remind Lorenzen and AridMonk that the B&C is still here and active, it would be great to have all of you back at the same time and posting your work.

Very sorry to hear about  your grandfather. I mine was very special to me as well.

I know I don't get extra points for this, but I read all the way through your thread last night and was very impressed. Even captured a couple of pics to help me with some helmet sculpting.

Cheers,

thanks Honda.

You can have some extra e-cookies!!

I look back at some of my older stuff and think.... hmmmm - i could do that so much better now. it's really taken me a few years to get back on top of my painting and modelling game. those black templar pics come from me throwing together a gaming army to get back into the hobby and in a way i regret tackling them like that. but them's the breaks and we move on.  i really must finish the BT venerable dread though - i've not touched it since the last photo of it was done, even if it's just to say i completed the thing before selling it on to someone who can make good use of it as i sold the BTs to fund DE which i sold to fund the Heresy marines....

We each take different paths. What is most important is that you end up back home. :)

In away I guess I've come more than full circle - the Imperial Fists commission is going back to the primogenator Legion for my old Black Templars.  On saying that, my first army were marines (BA), then squats, then eldar, then space wolves, then orks, then nids, then a looooooooooong break before coming back to the hobby with the BT.  I've been in and out of this since the release of rogue trader, i guess that list (of just the 40k stuff....) is me showing my age!

thanks guys. got  a lot of other stuff on the tables for painting at the moment, so he's going to take a bit of a back seat.

i've got the rest of the IF squad to finish as a priority, then a savage orc, then in theory finish up 5 UM Cataphractii and a 10 UM man legion tac squad...... then i might get round to getting some paint on him. lol.

Last 4 of the 20-man legion tacticals are about done.

Bolters, bases and decals to do.

Once these are done I'm going to go back through the full squad and weather them up.
