International Brotherhood of Hobbyists

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Well, I've read the first page (the rest will be read in time) and I think it's a great idea! B)

I'm unsure right now what I'll be doing (too many projects in my head, I'll have to get them down on paper and then see), but I would love to join. (I love seeing other people's models and I do like the "helping out" part of the Brotherhood) :P

Anyway, till next time!

Ludovic

EDIT: Is this only for models or for general 40k stuff (such as fan art, etc...)?

Hey Ludovic, glad to have you on board ;) Anything endorsed by this section of the B&C is allowed here, so fan-art etc. is fine.

We're waiting Astador (drums fingers on computer desk.....) Just kidding don't rush something that looks that good :P.

Couple of slightly grainy update photos of the mk III marine tonight, not all that much progress really, painting each armour plate individually is pretty time consuming I can tell you!

http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF8913-1.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF8914-1.jpg

Each plate will be highlighted individually as well. I meant to say when I posted earlier that it feels kinda strange painting something that is technically 10,000 years older than the PA I'm used to painting, but in a nice way :).

Cheers

James

+edit+ PM reply sent Ludovic, Welcome to the IBH. Skirax gave you the right answer there, if it's B&C supported then it can go in here, for everthing else, there's our dedicated forum for which there's a link in my sig :).

Ok, cool thanks chaps! ^_^

I guess, as I can't do IG (B&C regulations), that I'll be doing just a squad of Ultramarines. Dunno when I'll get them but my aim is to get about half the company in about 6 months time.

Cheers,

Ludovic

Hey Ludovic, glad to have you on board :)

Well I hope this works.

and...it did not...

But if you want to check out my gallery I have some pics of a Rogue Trader Landraider I'm making out of comic board.

I hope to get it complete by this weekend or next. Its alot cheaper than paying 100+ for one on ebay...

Brother Anthony

PS I hate PCs. If anyone could clue me in on how post pics on threads, that would be cool. I've read all the BBC code stuff and its all Geek to me. I'm a drag and drop guy.

Alright, I have to apologize for the delay. B&C was doing a server clean last night when I went to post the videos and I fell asleep before it was completed. But now here are the videos.

Thanks for the videos Astador, when I've got some more time I'm gonna watch parts 2 and 3 properly in full but it's kinda late just now .

Couple of pics of my progress with the mk III marine:

http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF8923-1.jpghttp://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p456/pigofsparta/DSCF8922-1.jpg

I should hopefully have all the mid layer red done in the next couple of days or so then it's on to the highlighting :). Incidentally, since I haven't said yet, can anyone guess his legion?

I'd also just like to apologise to those members who just joind for the time it's taking me to go from receiving your PM to updating the members list. I'm on here fairly frequently and try to update stuff as often as I can, but sometimes I get distracted by either other stuff on the forum or stuff in reall life (generally the kids and my other half). If you send me a PM I will reply to you as soon as I can, even though it's not always straight away.

Thanks,

James

Hail, Battle Brothers.

Heh. I've always wanted to say that and have it be accurate and not highly peculiar or out of place. Now that that's out of the way..Hi. I go by a few names when prowling the interwebs, but for simplicity's sake, use my proper name. I'm Hugh, and it's a real pleasure to be a part of what seems to be a genuinely pleasant and helpful group such as this one.

I'm pretty much completely green when it comes to collecting, building, painting and fielding a Space Marine army, and my experience with such matters in regards to any army is sufficiently minute to be disregarded. I've decided to collect a Space Marine army, seduced to the ways of Power Armour by medium of the Horus Heresy books. I will honestly admit I'd paid little to no attention to the Space Marines beyond potential foes for that other army full of xenos scum that I may or may not have begun collecting a while ago but got distracted by life before I could complete.

Fluff, however, is a wonderful thing. I'm a voracious reader, and a lover of fantastic stories, to my very core. I'm a big fan of stories that are warrior centric, and the Space Marines make a pleasant change from the usual swords and sorcery shtick that I've been following for, well, forever.

So now I am brainstorming on the Chapter I shall forge in the crucibles of my mind, and will hopefully translate it from mind, to paper, to IA, to a proper and fully fledged SM tabletop force. I'd be honoured if you guys would help me along this no doubt arduous process, and try not to laugh too hard at the freshling when he makes horrendous mistakes.

I have the colour scheme done for the basic Marines, but I lack several important things that prevent me from continuing. I have yet to decide upon a name, and I doubt I'll be getting any models until the 20th or so. The closest store that supplies some GW items is over an hour away, and being a college student, I haven't the fund to fuel a car, or purchase lots of models. I'll be turning to you guys for advice on what to buy and when, not to mention basic tips on how to paint and what not to do.

Anywho. Rambly introduction aside, my Chapter will definitely be as close combat focused as is possible without being reduced to uselessness. Suggestions on where to start in collecting such a force would be greatly appreciated.

Hugh.

No rush James! B)

I have 2 more videos to upload today, so I'll post them later. But I been working more on Mephiston since he's my video model. Unfortunately I only did the blade and gold on the Tutorial. But now I feel I should have done the cloak. Maybe on another model though.

Well here are the pics!

Rider-75 gets the prize, he is going to be a Blood Angel, good guess though Brother Anthony ;).

@ Deorai: for your first puchases, I'd recommend a couple of troops choices and an HQ. I'll PM you a couple of links that might come in handy :P.

@ Astorath: I'll definately check out your other videos once they're up, that Mephiston is looking beautiful, I love the richness to that purple and the muted gold really works well with it. The freehand swirl on the back is a nice touch too.

cheers

James

Ummm.... you win a nice fresh batch of internet cookies .

Drop me a PM when you're ready and we'll get a thread set up in the WIP section. Or if you like, you can start the thread and I'll add my stuff in a reply to it.

cheers

So I finally got round to stripping that dread, thanks again PoS, but have realised that this guy is really starting to show his age and so I'll have to do some conversion work on him. I've done a couple of sketches so that you guys can voice any opinions before I start a hackin' and a slashin'.

I only plan to do the legs and arms as the body is fine as it is really, here's what I propose:

The Legs are way to stubby for such a large body and so I am gonna need to add an extra joint in somewhere, like this:

gallery_49580_5257_266908.jpg

Like the Legs the DCCW is tiny compares to the body and so I want to enlarge it and possible extend the fore arm slightly, the storm bolter isn't in the pick but will be attached the the back of the fist as it is normally:

gallery_49580_5257_463684.jpg

The Gun (haven't decided on what it is yet) is too small or anything but it does seem too unwieldy where it is so I plan to add an upper arm to it to make it look cooler and easier to use:

gallery_49580_5257_153874.jpg

So what do people think? Good? Bad? Or okay?
