Looking great!

Really nice poses (although Brother Narsus looks a wee bit like he's scratching his arse with his chainsword hilt from that angle...) and paintjobs all around. You pull off the dirty white look very well.

How about that same Russel Crowe pose, but with a blade (or whatever you might fancy) in each hand and more of a "Come and get me"-sort of pose?

Ahahaha oh crap dude Typewriter you are so right! Well we'll just ignore that.. :D

Do Space Marines even get itches? But anyway I'm gonna test it out and we shall see. Maybe I'll have him launching himself at the enemy with his two weapons like that.. yeah.. the cogs are turning..

@nurglez it sounds pretty decent, but I sorta have an issue with huge whirring chainswords held in reverse, and I don't really want another guy just standing around shooting, they're suppose to be kicking ass! Thanks for the suggestion though! <_<

Interesting work. Nicely painted and inspired poses (cept for maybe that ass-scratcher  ).

As for a 5th pose, this guy screams "I'm sooooo gonna kill you, and look good doing it," but in a calm, menacing way:

I'm referring to the pose on the right of course. A severed head or trophy of some sort in the freehand could be a nice addition.

Not sure how easy that would be with massive shoulder plates, though. Also might be a bit too stagnant without the robes adding movement to the model, so maybe hunch him forward a little bit. Just enough to give him that look that he's about to pounce, but not so much that he looks like "Damn, this thing is heavy!"

Hope that makes some sense, and possibly even helps. Keep it up.

Awesome with so many replies (I guess someone really wants to name this guy huh :D)

@mithril hound, I might be getting some more Assault Marines in which case you better believe there will be a plasma gunner/flamer with that pose.

@ the good sir Firepower, he's a bit too calm for this squad who are all meant to somehow be either in combat or getting there, but I like the pose and it is suitably badass for a place in the 'Black' Company, and I think if I ever get me some scouts, he will be the Sergeant or whatever the scout equivalent is (I've never played loyalist marines. Shhh)

I'm still struggling with inspiration, it's been a slow day, so for the time being, consider it a while until you see some updates.

I'm looking at the sergeant... and I'm thinking Samuirai... And I'm putting the two together....

To do this, you need to use kneeling legs, an open hand (think Missile Launcher supporting hand) and the sword scabbard from the Khorne Berzerkers kit.

Have him on kneeling legs, and push his torso forward with his left ahand flat on the ground, and his arm straight out. His other hand is holding his bolt pistol tucked close to his side, so not pointing but the at the ready arm. A clip, as opposed to a magasine feed, would really, really help. The sword scabbard is on his back, pointing up to his right.

The idea is that he is rolling, or rather throwing himself into a roll. A bit of terrain to one side of him wouldn't hurt although I would reccomend that's it's painted seperately.

EDIT: And you can name him Thirst

  • 2 weeks later...

We shall see Thirst..

Anyway! I need some help, if you guys don't mind. I have undercoated Brother-Captain Batko and am really itching to get to painting on the fella. However, I wanna paint his armour slightly differently from the rest of the army like having a lot less white I think. How would it look with only his powerfist and his right shin painted white? Retarded? Otherwise can anyone help me?

Goose - something like this, for Batko?

I can't put the power fist on the other hand... must ask that of Brother Argos, who is well and truly awesome... That is, to have power fists availible on either hand.

I did add a number of small things to be more in tune with the model and colored them appropiately.

Here are a few pic of Brother-Commander Batko, he's not completely done. Let me know what you think!

The red hair is an attempt to make a bloody drip from his axe as seen in WD340 with Harry the Hammer. I can quite seem to get it to work though, anyone got any tips?

followed by about 3 to 4 layers of baal red wash. And his face needs...something. Warpaint or tattoos maybe? These guys are known to be cannibals, maybe some markings similar to these lines. Otherwise, looks great man.

That face is great!

For the hair, i think you mix PVA glue and red/chesnut ink, and then apply it to the hair to make the drops.

Liking the Black and White scheme too. :ermm:

Its funny because my Loyalist space marines are black and white, and im going to be putting blue tattoos/warpaint on them too.

Opposite ends of the same legion?

Oh FUUU-

You know what this means? IT'S ON!

Aaaaaanywho. Thank you for the comment, I am quite proud of the face too! Which is why I'm worried I ruined it with warpaint... what's the verdict?

Also, I have added more damage to his armour, and made his fist a bit bloodier. Can't have it all clean and pristine when he's been killing himself some Space Wolves now can we? Oh yes. They're Space Wolves heads MUAHAHA - anyway, for your viewing pleasure:

Ah yes, the blood drip is working out by the way, except the damn hair is curved..

C&C welcome gents!

Whoa, I never said the face was bad, you did a great job on it. He just looked a little too albino, that's all, and I was suggesting something to help him stand up. The tattoo works well, it just needs it's edges smoothed out a little, and the tat lines themselves made a little thinner. It does look good though, man. And the curved hair looks great, the curve gives the impression of movement.

Don't worry lol I didn't think you said it was bad ^_^ I painted him a bit albino-y because as followers of Malal their hair and skin starts turning white. At least I remember reading that somewhere and I liked it. But thanks for the tips, I'll try it out.

Here's a thought...a maori tribal tat. The maori were not cannabals, but the tat would work well, i think...

http://crazy-tattoo-designs.com/maori%20tribal%20tattoos.jpg

the curves in the tat are perfect, just add in the 'points' at the edges of the curves, and it'll be awesome. And I didn't know that about Malal/Malice, kinda cool.

@mikhail: Smooth out a piece of gree stuff, cut to shape, place it where you want it, then use the end of a paper clip to push little divots in the green stuff over and over again. Takes some time, but the results work well. I used this method on my Mk. I thunder armor, I was pretty happy with the results.

P.S. Sorry Goose, didn't mean to hijack your post, just trying to be helpful. :P
